| And so Merrics Law is maintained.
Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed that the price is that high. Even if they are spectacular, mass produced prepaints aren't going to be as well painted as my own, and if I can get cheaper crappily painted minis, I will. It's not that hard to get a plastic regimental box of gw skeles and in four steps (base, white paint, silver paint, dip) have a set of twenty to thirty skeletons. 2.00 for a skeleton? | | The prices don't seem to bad to me. If you go by booster cost rather than secondary market prices D&D figures average out to be around $1.90 themselves. Not all that much cheaper. The price point on the Reaper Minatures isn't going to make or break it with me, rather it's going to end up being the quality and variety of the line. | | Pathetic Earthlings. | | I'll end up staying with DDM exclusively. One little benefit that does matter to me is that it's nice to have the "official" product when playing the RPG - especially when it doesn't cost any more. Usually, generic brands sell for less than Heinz ketchup or Coca-Cola. Why not have the real thing? | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

Where did you find pictures of them? I searched the reaper website looking for the metal equivalent of the different mini's. They have metal versions with the same exact names - I'm assuming that the sculpt will look the same. It would be silly not to use the molds that they already have.

| | Reaper will probably not use the same molds for plastic figs that they use for metal----In production, most molds using metal are "spin cast"---All production plastic molds are injection molds | | | |

They may be still using the same minatures. Much of the old Mage Knight line was older Ral Partha and other fantasy minatures that Wizkids bought the rights to. | | Pathetic Earthlings. | It would be nice if they were actually covering things we don't have yet with DDM. But so far everything is already well represented. No use to me at all considering the size of my current collection. If they ever get around to plastic versions of their town folk or some of their interesting human figures (not enough chainmail bikinis in the DDM line) I might pick them up. | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

Have to agree. The style of the sculpts seem chunky to my eyes and not very elegant. But that is just me. The paint jobs do seem nice though, I'll give them that.

| Considering the secondary market prices of Troll Slashers, I'd say the Cave Troll is relatively cheap. Likewise, Harbinger Orc Archers are a little on the ridiculous side. Spend ~$10 on one or ~$7 for 3. The prices are pretty close to inline with metal miniatures without having to assemble and paint. If the plastic takes paint as well as the DDM line does, these will be excellent for repainting.
Until better pics are available it's hard to pass too strong of judgement. Overall, for those who have large DDM collections (or metal mini collections for that matter) there doesn't seem to be much to rev the engine about. However, for DMs who don't already have a pile o' DDM it looks like Reaper is offering a reasonable selection of staples.
Out of everything in the pic I'd be most tempted to pick up the minotaur. Granted, I have ample supplies of orcs, ogres, skeletons, and trolls. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Granted, I have ample supplies of orcs, ogres, skeletons, and trolls. Two points I'd like to extrapolate on. This is a good idea for people who aren't already buying DDM. RPG DM's on a very low budget, perhaps. But if you have any sort of local tarding market, or collection, these aren't anything but a new alternative. I realize not everyone has Harbinger, and for them, Orc Archer's are awesome.
Second, as I said before, there is nothing here that isn't or wasn't already made by WotC, and which I don't have an already ample supply of. Again, other's may not, but personally, and I think a lot of skirmishers share my thoughts, until something not already DDM made comes out, I don't see me doing much purchasing of this line.

| | If I absolutely had to buy one of these things, it'd be the Ogre Chieftain. I happen to like this mini very much and only $5. Sure, there's shipping and handling, but that is why it'd be justified by me buying other minis (the ones I have to personally paint, of course) that I'd really, really want anyways, so the total price may be raised but I'd be quite content with the overall results. | | Champion of the Prismatic Golem
