Ummm....huh?
Spend lots of money on a CCG. Spend lots of money on a ps3. Spend even more money on the new eyetoy. So you can then play the CCG.
Granted, the "monster on the card" trick is pretty cool, but I think this is going to have to be a "pass" for me. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Champion of Dwarven Thunderlashers Knight of the Large Dire Chicken Have/Want List Trade References

| I've gone through to many set rotations on CCG's to ever get into them again, let alone something that requires all that $$$ stuff. | | Pathetic Earthlings. | Video games and collectible games don't often go together very well. Especially if you're spending money on the things you're collecting. Plus, if you decide to get out of a collectible game, you can always sell some of your old stash for cash. It's a little harder to do on a game console, however.
Neat idea, poor execution. I'll just stick to collecting DDM and playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma, thanks. | | Champion of the Elf Duskblade

| | I've seen this at some conventions. It's a neat idea and the systems they had hooked up worked like intended. Not sure how well this will go over, but then if you can't find anyone else to play with.... | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

The concept is intriguing, but I think it'll be too expensive to be broadly appealing (appealing enough to keep itself afloat). Considering that the ps3 is not selling terribly well in comparison (roughly 4.5 million units) to other consoles, it seems like an odd choice for a non-crossplatform game which will depend on broad-based consumer support to keep alive.
I'm particularly interested to see how many players can play at a time. If it's single-player per console, it's a definite no. If it can handle local (or LAN) multiplayer, it could be worth picking up. There is a serious lack of split-screen multi-player/split-screen co-op (a la Halo franchise) with the current generation of consoles.

| I also saw someone suing Sony over the PS3 on slashdot a little while ago... interesting, they didn't seem willing to negotiate, and, IIRC, demanded full recall and destruction.

| Bleh. That's just a bunch of patent trolls trying to get rich quick. If they actually managed to win the lawsuit, Intel/AMD would be next on the chopping block since if the patent is widely defined enough to include the cell processor (which doesn't work quite the way the patent is worded) it's broad enough to include dual-core/quad-core processors.
EDIT: I would contend that if you file a patent lawsuit in the eastern district of Texas, such a suit should be automatically considered fraudulent (especially when no party involved is based in the eastern district of Texas and you're just filing because the judges there have proven to be sympathetic to patent plaintiffs). Cherry-picking circuit courts is just downright slimy.

(emphasis mine) Quoted for truth. I expect to see it go down the tube, but it nonetheless looks bad to an investor or potential customer.

I dont see anything about pricing, other than the cost of a ps3 of course. I dont see anyone buying a ps3 just for this game. If I owned one I would buy this game however. | | Champion of (Aspect of) Kurtulmak Trade References

| | it was shown @ comic con like 2 weeks ago, as for the ps3 lacking anything, you know its only a matter of time. heavenly sword looks real nice and the graphics are awsome. im not sold on lair, but FFXIII will sure bring ppl over to it. as to the nature of this CCG, it really should just be a CG, but i guess the fact the PS3 has online capabilities means easy access to a larger audience. now what i do like about the idea of this CCG though is the automation of stuff so theres less chance of a wierd rules or interaction issue as the computers gonna handle that. | | WotC boards SN: Randolph Carter

Yeah, it's the PS3 price, plus I expect large card pirces. It is a collectible game, after all...
