| I think folks are losing sight of that. Maybe they are not; maybe this means more to them than it does to me.
Don't get me wrong ... I'm a HUGE FAN of these games. I love them all. They bring me great enjoyment.
I participate in these community discussions because I ENJOY it. Once they turn into more drama and work than fun, I'm not going to enjoy it AT ANY SITE.
Whatever happens will happen ... I'd just like to take a bit of time to refocus everyone. Yes, I spend alot of money on this ... but I'm not paying anything for the privilege of being a member of this website (or others) related to this hobby.
Maybe it is more important to you than it is to me. Maybe it is "a big deal". I'm not going to tell you that you shouldn't fight for what you believe in ... if it is serious, by all means.
But I am going to state again that I'm here for the fun. This is my distraction from life, work and all the other drama and responsibilities I have.

I blame myself totally. All my posts are fun, and I just don't post as often as I should.
I do read a lot of the stuff posted here, but a lot isn't even worth dignifying with a response. It's just not fun [:)]
I'm going now to read the stupid, non-fun stuff people write. I am so glad that this DDM is only a fun game for me.
In between the fun stuff and non-fun stuff, I hope to find many useful and informative posts by the mainly dedicated, serious fun type people who inhabit this site.

| Well that would be why I've been Warhammer free for several years now. That and pre-painted minatures.[:D]
I've had the recent good luck to find some people at a local flgs who are currently playing. I may now end up breaking my collecting only habit too.

| Aye, what bothers me is the drama between some of the members is creating a rift in the entire community. If you ask me, some of the people behind the whole mess should stop for a moment and think of the damage they are causing. And this applies to both of the sides. Stop pointing fingers at each other, playing tug-of-war with the forum goers and act like adults.
I play DDM for fun, but IRL. I can easily "pack my stuff" get the hell way from this wreck of a community and continue playing to my hearts content. But right now, both Maxminis and Hordelings offer great places to discuss the hobby outside my local gaming circles and I appreciate that. Thats enough to keep me staying, on both sites. | |

Because I don't care about other people's drama.

| As my meager post count dictates, I spend most of my time just enjoying the discussion and using the new ideas to try on my own. When the fun of learning and discussing goes away, the rampant speculation isnt lighthearted, and the drama becomes too much, thats when I'm gone.
Props to Chris for the thread. I think people do lose sight of the fact all we're doing is manuevering plastic around a flimsy(though often laminated) fold out map. | |

I'm relatively new here, and to be frank i have no idea what you're talking about. Maxminis appears to me like a very friendly online community. People are very polite in their posts and email exchanges in the vast majority of cases that i've witnessed. I've had some members go out of their way to help me out in my first trades, and i've had some email disucssions around trades (although not necessarily about trades) that were really fun.
If turmoil presently exists, well i hope that my post will help you remember that you still project a pretty darn good aura from my new member standpoint [:)]

The subject matter is a game.
The people here are friends (or potential friends). If something gets under their skin, even if I think it is ridiculous, idiotic, innane, stupid or creepy... I try to acknolwedge their view, even i I disagree with their stance.
I think a lot of people take this game entirely too seriosuly. I'm often critical of their harsh response to minor problems (NOTE - I am not saying that every problem we've seen is minor), and I often criticize people for the way in which they respond to an issue... but I try to be respectful of their opinions. Unless their name starts with a G... then I unload with all my fury! [)] | |

So I was thinking, Axis and Allies should probably come before Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures because "A" comes before "D" and it's always nice to alphabetise.
But then again, the Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures forums have more posts. So maybe we should sort them by most popular?
Shoot I don't know...this is why I get so giddy when I visit the site each day...what new & crazy layout will I see next!

Seriously, i've been an implicated member of another online community for a number of years now. Several years ago, we've experienced a rather strong storm that saw half of our members leave the community, which lived on to return to its old peaceful and pleasant situation. I think it's too bad that some people left. Perhaps they lacked (as most of us did) a bit of perspective on the situation when it occurred.
Here, Chris appears to be sending the message to take a step back to refocus or, in other words, to regain some measure of perspective, which appears to me like a good reflex. I do not claim to tell others how to handle this (or to know how to go about it), just to recall amongst the presumably heated arguments (that i haven't seen myself) that this is a nice place with nice people where fun stuff occurs.
