1000 Knight Marshal
2500 Knight Warlord While I was putting them into the new system I got to thinking, why not have a little contest to pick new names for each level? So let the first maxminis title-picking contest hereby commence! The rules are simple. Anyone can nominate any title name for any level they like. Next weekend we'll put the nominations into a survey, and you, the users, will pick one for each of the 6 levels by voting for your favorites. Fair enough? Please, nominations only in this thread- and be sure to say what level(s) they're for! | |

| Call me silly, but I prefer 7 titles to 6. And, continue to call me silly, I like the breakdowns to occur at other post counts. So, of course, these are wide open to change, and could be modified to fit the existing structure if that's what we're going with.
I'm supposing we can contribute more than one list.

0 : peasant.
25 : squire. (1 star)
75 : knight. (2 stars)
175 : baron. (3 stars)
350 : viscount. (4 stars)
700 : count. (5 stars)
(1000 : custom avatar)
1500 : marquis. (6 stars. No more afterwards)
2500 : duke.
4000 : prince.
(5000 : custom title for those who want to chose their own. But couldn't chose "king" or "emperor")
6500 : king.
10000 : emperor of minis.
Low level ranks might entice newcomers to post more. And we have to create something for the spam machines already over 5000 !
Oh and some more little things could be added for other numbers like rainbow stars (red/orange/yellow/green/blue/purple) at 2000, golden stars at 8000, etc.
And now I'm thinking of it we could disconnect the stars from the titles, it would make even more stages and more incentive to post. (i.e. 1st star = 50 ; 2nd star = 125 ; 3rd star =Â 250 ; 4th star =Â 500 ; 5th star = 1200 ; 6th star = 2000 ; rainbow stars = 3000 ; bronze stars = 4500 ; silver stars = 5500 ; gold stars = 8000) | |

| If I may make a couple of notes:
The original system I set up as it was due to the wargamey nature of maxminis: we're commanders of armies (or skirmish forces at least!) As DDM was the first game we covered, the titles were deliberately mediaeval in nature. (If one checks the AD&D Unearthed Arcana cavalier class, one may see some of my inspiration!)
The number of titles was forced upon me by the previous software. I'd have liked more ranks myself, but we couldn't do it. Custom Titles were set to 5,000 due to the post counts of the time and my experiences on other boards. I have 5,000 posts on EN World, but it took me several years to get there. It's a big number, and I'm not there yet on maxminis!

| Just to be explicit, it's really not such a big deal to me either. The current titles are okay, dragon ages are okay, something else is okay. I do agree that it would be good to find some hierarchy that fits all the different games.

| I would suggest that in any voting that the current scheme (or a slight alteration with some new levels perhaps) be one of the options. I like dragons, but that really has little to do with the other games. The commander theme as Merric mentioned is very appropriate given the nature of the games focused on.
It might be possible for everyone to have a toggle or pull down or something like that in there user ID info page that would give them an option of which scheme they wished to use? Of course that might be more trouble than it is worth.
Regardless have some sort of "names" is a cool thing to do and gives at least some "reward" for being an active member on the site.... | |

Level 1 - Axis and Allies low level commander or fig
Level 2 - Star Wars low level commander or fig
Level 3 - D&D minis low level commander or fig
Level 4 - Axis and Allies high level commander or fig
Level 5 - Star Wars high level commander or fig
Level 6 - D&D minis high level commander or fig
The order is based on number of topics and posts on the boards right now and includes every mini game except Dreamblade. | |
