Seems WotC don't agree that the growth is decent...
With official support for tournaments being severely reduced. I'd expect dreamblade to die fairly rapidly.

| Bad news for sure.
Still I think there could be a chance if Wizards continues to support it with the Edge tournaments. I think the flaw here was they tried building from to top down, starting with big cash tournaments rather than building grass roots support at the local level and waiting for the demand to grow. Perhaps that scared some people away. | | | |

| I think JacksonM hit it on the head. Magic took what, 3 years, for a Pro tour to develop?
I have hopes, but it will take time.

Yeah, 3 years, exactly... Now here's the funny thing, WotC wasn't Hasbro at the time, now it is. Hasbro expects things to just jump big in no time flat, they can't afford to wait and see if the popularity of a game will build. When WotC was fully taken over by Hasbro, there were many games that were mediocre at best, and all those games died horrible deaths. Vampire, remember it? I do. I liked it, but Hasbro would have none of it. Netrunner was better than Magic IMHO but it again fell to the mighty axe because it wasn't bringing the money that the rival game, Magic, did. Pokemon was for a time, bought by Hasbro/WotC, and was given back when sales fell off. What about MLB Showdown, L5R (Yes, WotC got that from AEG and sent it back after they killed it), and a few other games? All these new games that were developed that had fascinating rules, that were fun, wasn't making enough money so within a year they were given the axe. The average lifespan of a collectible game is actually 2 years. Things that make it longer usually stays, usually.
So, what games are hot that corners the markets where they are?
Magic the Gathering, every other CCG lives only a year or two with the exceptions of Decipher's SWCCG (WotC SWCCG is pretty much dead everywhere), STCCG, the original AEG's L5R (which is still in its death throes thanks to WotC), Pokemon (pre-WotC), Redemption (some Christian CCG that's still popular in the Christian community even though you can kill heroes with Lucifer and Jezebel) and a couple of others I fail to name...
Miniatures games, pick your flavor:
Chainmail (Before Hasbro got the idea of plastic, this type of play was one of the best) Warhammer (All types) Wizkids (Pirates, superheroes, and Mageknight) Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures
What others are there? Oh yeah...
Wyvern, which was a blantent ripoff of Magic that it died in less than 6 months. Towers in Time, I could never understand this game Middle Earth (Not to be confused with Decipher's Lord of the Rings)
God... Let's just say it, over 150 collectible games out there, all die within the first 2 years. How many games did WotC have that belongs in the vault of the dead games?
1? 5? 10? 20? Would you believe it that almost 20% of the dead games belongs to WotC, and only because of Hasbro? WotC didn't ditch all the games they had, Hasbro did it after they fully took over WotC. That doesn't stop there though... Look at the history of Hasbro, look at all the board, card, and video games they have.. Look at the trend of what happens to the games that nobody plays. They don't get published again... That American edition of Monopoly? That made it only a few months in 2002. What about all the different Bob the Builder and such? It's popular with a child for like, a month? And then it goes to goodwill or the trash. Hasbro keeps coming up with new and interesting ideas that generates fast sales and once it goes through its cycle it dies off the market. Anyone ever play 1313 Dead-End Drive? Did you like it? What about Dragon Strike? The list just keeps going, if it doesn't sell to Hasbro's expectations, the game gets dropped. That's final.
So... What will happen to Dreamblade, SW, and AAM? I don't think any will make it. Why? Because it's owned by Hasbro.

| SWM will definitely make it. It's selling just fine. AAM I don't know about, and dreamblade I think will stay around. It's a solid game, and as long as the edge tournaments start getting some decent support, It'll survive.

| Vampire:tES from White Wolf sells good and it's a fantastic multiplayer game.
I think SW are going to survive, it's one of the strongest brands there is. Especially if Lucas decides to do the 3 sequels he planned to do long time before.
LOTR from Decipher is collapsing, but Hobbit movie will help it, but then it will die off for lack of material, I guess.
Isn't there Harry Potter minis? I knew there was a card game, but that got killed.
I have always thought AAM is safe and selling good. Plus a lot of sets are ave gone out, so it looks stabilized.
I'm sorry that SWM SSB didn't make it, WOTC/Hasbro didn't care about it, just released something like a stand-alone, there was much potential in it
I also saw somewhere that L5R is building up, maybe official site, a new set coming...dunno. | | 2007 & 2008 Czech Republic Champion 2008 Czech Republic's Player of the Year

Yeah, Harry Potter CCG, WotC, dead... LOTR, sad... I always liked the quality of Decipher, but they always seem to jump at everything that may be short lived.. Dreamblade has no backbone support that it will need to survive SWM isn't fairing well in some places, but that may be because it's overshadowed by DDM, which seems to have died everywhere in North Florida completely.. Mega Comics and War Dogs gives no support to either... L5R is still going to sink... AEG's trying their hardest, but it's a lost cause... | | Just a simple traveler from the swamps of Dagobah otherwise known as Florida. Also known as Hurricane Alley! | | The Decipher LOTR's quality is great, the design, mechanics, very good. But I see no way to go forth with the game, the rules for Middle-earth are set and they can't change them and invent another story or something, I guess. | | 2007 & 2008 Czech Republic Champion 2008 Czech Republic's Player of the Year

You can say that about any game, but SWM is doing really well, especially in the US. They'd make more of it if they could, as I hear from multiple locations as soon as it gets on the shelf it is bought. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

| Still rather lively for the state as a whole. Locally, DOA, but other parts have good showings.
