How can I straighten some bent SW Starship figs? The plastic they used are somewhat different compared to DDM it seems. Like how do I straighten an Imperial Star Destroyer that looks like Donald Duck's bill that's pointing upwards? And how can I make an X-wing's laser cannons straight, aside from making it look like it's s-foils are open? Thanks!

I'm afraid to do anything to damage the minis. The most disappointing thing about SSB is how many ships are damaged or bent. I'm afraid to damage them more by "fixing" them.

Try dipping them in hot water to soften the plastic, straightening it and then running it under cold water to harden the plastic again.

SSB has presented some interesting challenges in correcting the bent sculpts with the tried and true heat and cool methods.  Particularly the TIE Fighters large flat wings are very difficult to  make look correct.  Another situation unique to SSB is that the huges seem to be hollow and are difficult to evenly heat and cool in the correct position.

The TIEs can turn out with the wings curling so they are shaped like x's.  WoTC attempted to protect the TIEs with cardboard sleeves but they were inadequate and require at the very least some tweaking to make them look good.

Won't the paint fall off or the plastic melt when I dip it in hot water? How hot is hot? Does it have to be boiling?

Well, I used the "hot water method" with DDM effectively.

I boiled water. I had a bowl filled with ice and cold water. I put the part of the mini I wanted to shape differently inside the boiling water for 8-10 seconds, holding the mini with pliers (my fingers didn't like it when I left out the pliers). I then pulled the mini out, shaped it quickly, and put it right into the ice water for 10 seconds. I pulled it out and set it down to let it dry. After a little while, I toweled off the remaining water drops from the mini.

I don't know how well this works with SSB. I am reluctant to try it with SSB.

Thank you for the tips everyone. I may try the hot water method. Hope it works for SSB.

Paint on these minis seems to be immune, even to boiling water.
I have successfully streitened the "tailplane" of Invisible hand with this method.
But I havn't managed to get a Tie Fighter correct yet...

Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

I don't know why they won't use a slightly harder plastic, it would make the warping effect a lot less... Every Tie fighter I got looks [horrible].

Very poor quality minis if you ask me...

I always use a hair dryer to heat up as I find it offers better control for heating particular areas of the mini.  I always cool with a bowl of ice cube filled water holding the mini with my fingers as it cools in the correct position.Â
I have never seen a mini melt, but I have had paint flake a bit.
