The Sahuagin Empire
Two small Islands are all that is seen by the Land walkers, two small islands that are hated but necessary part of the Sahuagin Empire. These two islands know to most sailors as The Devils Thorns are the source of Gems, Gold, Iron, Brass and weapons for an empire of shark like humanoids that rule the ocean. The Sahuagin use these islands as a slave colony to mine natural resources and to forge weapons in a way that is impossible under the sea. What the Land Walkers don’t realize is that there is a vast Empire of vicious underwater predators that is below the surface of the ocean, and they hate anything from the surface.
I: The Devils Thorns:
The Devils Thorns were discovered over 1,000 years ago by the Sahuagin. A young male by the name of Ku-tr-rk wanted to know what was above he walked on the land for half the night near drying out completely. He Found a Small village of Elfs there he saw weapons that could be used to Kill his enemies and win him glory in battle. After a few days of planning he Struck the village killing the those who could fight and left the weak. They had axes and swords weapons that were forged and had never been made below the sea. He gathered these weapons and took them back to his clan. They found the weapons useful for a short time before the sea salt corroded them and made them unusable. The Clan of Ku-tr discovered that they could keep a supply of these weapons in exchange for not killing off the entire Elf community. This made clan Ku-tr the strongest in the region and after 1,000 years they have perfected the arrangement with the land walkers.
Now what was clan Ku-tr has become a royal house. Weapons can now be forged in the depths of the region in the Volcanic Forges below he water. The weapons forged here are not affected by the salt of the ocean however the only source of the raw materials needed is on surface. The Devils thorns are Rich in the Natural resources needed to make the weapons they need. The Sahuagin have forced a symbiosis with the Land walkers on the Devils Thorns. The Sahuagin demand ore and gems from the mines on these islands in exchange for not raiding them. They also bring Fish and other foods to these people because only a few of the communities have become strong enough to farm. When a community becomes strong enough to fight back against the Sahuagin it is destroy, the strong are killed and leaving the women a children to rebuild. About 50 years ago a hurricane destroyed most of the people on the Islands and the Sahuagin had to find a new source of works. The Sahuagin traveled to away from the Devils horns and away from their home city and found Ships traveling the Sea. The Sahuagin have been taking these ships Killing off the leaders and making the rest work the mines. Now with a diverse population on the Devils Thorns the Sahuagin have new and better weapons, Like dwarven war axes and Elvin thin blades all capable of long turn use in the ocean.
With this much power in the hands of a dangerous Empire who can challenge them in their own realm.
II: Life in the Sahuagin Empire.
The Sahuagin live in a brutal male dominated society when they men are the hunters, fighters and Warlords and the women are the Religious leaders, educators, and scholars. The Sahuagin once lived in an unorganized clan structure each clan killing others for dominance in the sea. Until Ku-tr-rk lead his to take over the sea. Now the Ku-tr control the Sahuagin keeping the other clans as generals in the grand Army. Each clan controls their region of the sea. Each clan reports to the Ku-tr clan and Emperor Ku-tr who has the largest and strongest army under his personal control.
Each Clan has a slightly different structure however each one have a Clan leader normally called a ShhCk (Sharks tooth) and Ckt-Shv-bun (she who has been taught). Ckt-shv-bun are the clerics and shawmen, they are the ones who leaded the religious Ceremonies, study the power of the sea and teach all Sahuagin.
II: The Sahuagin Religion: (using concepts that are Open gaming content from Slayers guide the Sahuagin)
There are 3 Gods in the Sahuagin Pantheon: It That is Eaten, He Who Eats and She Who Teaches.
In the beginning there was only water there was not up no down no day no night only water.
Three Eggs were created, the first to open became It that is Eaten. It That Is Eaten was all forms of life Spreading out in the ocean into many forms.
The Second egg to open became He Who Eats in the form of a Huge Shark. He ate It That Is Eaten time and time again. It’s apatite never quenched. Each time It that is eaten Kept multiplying
The Third egg to open became She Who Teaches in form of a Sahuagin Cow, She Watched It That is Eaten and He Who Eats in their never ending struggle. She Understood the Role of It that is eaten and Hunted it as well understanding and Respecting the Sacrifice. She attempted to avoid being Eaten by He Who Eats and Many times she Succeeded. However When she was eaten She was reborn.
One day It that is Eaten came to She who teaches and asked how she avoids He Who eats She Explained each of their Roles in the universe. She then went on to tell hit how it could hide, use camouflage, thorns and speed to avoid He who eats. It that is eaten was confused and wanted to play it’s role in the universe However it also wanted to be free of He Who eats So it Split creating the Sky and the earth, both the earth above the water and at the bottom of the ocean. The other part stayed as the ocean and the life within it.
He that Eats was now confused he went to see She who Teaches and for the first time used Language and intelligence to ask what happened. She Explained that It that is eaten Split the Evil part fled to dry land when Nether She who teaches or He who eats cold go or else they would dry.
This creation Myth shows Much about the Social structure of the Sahuagin. How men are dominant and strong however Women are a strong part of the society including and all education comes threw the women in the world. The Myth also show what the Sahuagin think of land walkers and how the land walkers betrayed the perfect order of the universe bye running to the dry ground.
Most women are ether Servants to then men, Educators or Priestess to the gods.
Most of the men don’t recognize the gods. Not because they don’t believe in the gods but because they don’t feel the need them. Only few men have ever been able to channel the powers that the women do in their ceremonies. These were raised entirely by Those Who Have Been Taught and don’t have any contact with the men. They are taught the power of Knowledge and Still have the instinct of a fighter (they become paladins). They are know as Shtrk-plut (sharks that have been taught).
III: Sahuagin in the Ocean:
When the Sahuagin were nothing more than warring clans they needed to keep moving in order to not kill everything in their region of the ocean. Now that they are organized by the empire they have created food farms and other ways of feeding themselves so not to strip the ocean. However this left the male part of the culture craving the Hunt. This is what led them to strike out in small Hunting parts they strike shipping passing ships and communities on the coast. Some Hunting parties travel for away from their home for years striking distant Land walkers. Normally this Hunting parties consist of 10-15 Male hunters. If their numbers ever go less than 8 they go home to replenish their party. They only time women go out are on Imperial missions witch can also take up years these normally have 2-3 of Those Who have been taught, 1 or 2 Sharks that have been taught and 20-25 Male hunters.
Other creatures that live anywhere near the Sahuagin waters have had to build defenses against their raids. Even thought The Empire has other ways of feeding and quenching the hunting desire many Sahuagin especially the young hunt the local creatures.
The Imperial Center is a Large Coral Reef that has never been seen by any Land walker (at least none that have every lived to tell about it). This Coral Reef have been constructed into a large fortress and city center. The outposts and other citys that the Sahuagin control have either underwater caves along the coast or Coral Reefs in strategic locations.
IV: Wemon and their plan
Being the Enlightened creatures that they are the Sahuagin women have come up with a plan to have control of the Sahuagin Empire from with in. They have started influencing the Cheftens of each clan by showing them power from the gods. The Person they have not been able to get closes enough to Ku-tr-rk however he seems to have some resistance to their powers of persuasion.
The Women have been experimenting with creating the ultimate Sahuagin warrior through magical means. They have created a warrior with 4 arms able to all wield weapons independently some of them have come up with other abilities some spell like and some regenitive and some resistant. This process is not easy and has spawned some horrifying creations that have turned on them.
V: Slavery and the Rebellion
When the Ku-tr Empire started enslaving land walkers to do their mining operations they needed to establish a control system. So they took all food and other needed materials from the slaves they caught. They then forced a triad market between the Sahuagin and the Slaves. The Slaves could only get Food and other needed material from the Sahuagin in exchange for the gems and ore that they mine.
Their have been cases of slaves attacking or trying to escape form the islands however the Ku-tr clan controls this area of the ocean exclusively and with the strongest Military power under the ocean in the area Rebellions have been easily squashed and any escape attempted has been hunted down and destroyed.
However in the last 10 years there has not been a single escape attempt or attack on the Sahuagin. This is not because their hopes have been squashed in fact it is the greatest threat to the Slavery operation ever. They have organized a rebellion with their headquarters deep with in the mines when the Sahuagin can’t go. The Dwarfs that have been captured created Forges and the few mages that are on the Island have created magical weapons and ways to fight the Sahuagin. In fact the largest project is a magically protected Ship that is being built to travel fast and secure away from the island but this is an on going project that will take years to complete.
Will the Sahuagin find this rebellion or will the slaves be able to escape and go back to their families.
VI: Adventurers in the Sahuagin Empire
• The adventurers could be attacked by Sahuagin and enslaved in the mines and have to find out
• They could have to get information about a lost artifact and the last person that had any info about it was on a ship traveling west and has been missing for years. In searching for him they find that his ship was wrecked and taken into slavery, they not only have to get on the island but then off.
• They Adventures could walk into a small costal village staying for the night as a Sahuagin hunting part comes into the village at night as a strike on the land walkers. After the strike they find that several costal villages have been hit in this way to the south it the strikes seem to be moving north on the coast village by village.
• While enslaved by the Sahuagin (or just on the island) Deep in the island far away from the coast they run into a Large Sahuagin with 4 arms Smashing thought the forest island not seeming to care about the dry land. What is this creature did those who have been taught find away to destroy the land walkers? What other creations have they come up with? What can they do about this?

| Wow.
Some good ideas here, but your grammar (as stated by you) is atrocious. Possibly so bad that people won't post on your thread.
If you give me the go-ahead, I'll clean it up for you in another post and you can copy and paste it back to your initial post.

| | the idea is that the Cleric women are gaining control of the society. Men, control the military (witch is a huge aspect of their culture), The Hunt, and the average household. Women have knowledge (which is how they have gotten so strong) the average Sahuagin woman dose not have any power but the clerical ones have a huge amount of power. | |

Various metals, such as: gold, iron and brass are just a small portion of the natural resouces used by the shark-like humanoids to forge weapons for their civilization.
The Sahuagin use a slave colony to mine the natural resources of the islands, and also to forge high quality weapons that they themselves are unable to create beneath the ocean depths. What most of the Landwalkers don’t realize is that the true heart of the Sahuagin Empire is not on the surface, but actually lies just below them.
I: The Devil's Thorns:

I kind of like the idea of the Sahuagin developing a liking for dragonspice, then finding out that there are some odd side effects.
First off, the 4-armed Sahaguin mutants are a pretty spiffy idea [^]
How the Sahuagin choose to deal with these "outcasts" could be very interesting. Do they become the mighty champion elite shock troops of the Sahuagin army? Are the relegated to hidden enclaves where they are viewed as cripples or monstrosities? Are they sold to the yuan-ti as slaves? Sold to other empires/regions as slaves/warriors/sideshows?
I haven't really decided exactly how to use dragonspice (other than as a narcotic). It could work to bring out temporary arcane abilities in the imbibers (gain limited access to Sorcerer spells as long as you have a steady supply?). I imagine that if it worked like this it would have to remain very expensive and have some downsides (permanent -2 con representing the addiction, take damage daily similar to a geas if you don't have your spice, etc). Suggestions would be welcome.

| The Yuan-ti have spies everywhere and will not put up with anyone muscleing in on there drug trade [:)].
As to how the dragonspice might effect the sahagin,of any one else for that matter, maybe continued long term use changes your type to dragon and you can add the half dragon template to imbiber but only as long as you continue taking it,withdrawl would be a painful and often fatal as your body tries to change back to its weaker form. Or maybe this might happen in only 10% of the cases and the rest just mutate like the 4 armed Sahagin making taking it a crap shoot. | | | |

| If the dragon spice can produce temporary arcane powers mostly the wemon would be messing with this stuff. This would also expain why there would be birth defects sometimes producing 4 armed sahuagin.
Because only one clan will have access to the dragon spice (mabye a few others when they sink ships that might have it but not a steady supply) this clan would see the 4 armed creatures as somthing they must hide from the rest of the sahuagin empire. However They would traid them into being fighting machiens for the day that they will take over the empire.

| Zohran would like to trade for dragonspice. Likly we would offer slaves. Would the sahuagin be open to doing this covertly of course or should we trade directly with the dragons.
Can the dragon spice be cut to lessen the side effects of long term use. I would want it to be as substainable a narcotic as possible.
