All right - here's what you've got to do in order to get your makings to the world map.

First, you must have some place online that allows other sites to load stuff.

Second, go to http://www.iki.fi/~twilek/rpg/create_map_js.html . Add your location's information there. Click 'create' -button and copy the text that appears to the last textarea.

Third - create javascript file, add all the location information you create with the tool above there and put the file online. Post the url to the file here (For example http://www.iki.fi/~twilek/rpg/test2.js

Fourth, to to the world map: http://www.iki.fi/~twilek/rpg/worldmap.html . add your url to the textbox in order to load it to the map and click the button. Check that your script works, it's no good to post non-working scripts/links here!

Note that this organization is only up for map development. You can change the information in your own scripts when you want. When everything is ready, scripts will be collected to a single file. I'll still leave the loading feature there for GM's own campaign informations.

The list of location scripts comes here:

Test files: (copypaste the url's below to the textarea in the top left corner of the map)
http://www.iki.fi/~twilek/rpg/test1.js
http://www.iki.fi/~twilek/rpg/test2.js

I've made the system using Firefox and haven't had time for much testing. Bugs are possible or even likely, and there's still many rough/missing features. Still, I think this can already be used as a tool for development!

Sean-khan, it is a good idea and i like what you have done so far. I think it would be great to have the map online like this and would benefit the project in a lot of ways.

The only request i have so far with it is if you could make the clickable options a floating box. I have my res at 1280 and still cant see the entire map. If i see something and want to turn off the grid lines or towns or whateve ri have to scroll back up to the top left.

Thanks for the comment, Daunte!

My plan is to make the control box floating - I'll have to do a little research for it as I haven't done it before. I don't think there's a monitor that can show the whole map in that size [:p] I'll see what I can develop. My idea would also be automatic scrolling if mouse pointer is brought to near the edge of the screen - although I'm not sure how I can manage that. If anyone knowledgeable with Javascript knows please let me know [:)] Miniature -map at the control -screen would also be good.

Has there been talk about the scale? How long is a side of a grid square? I believe I got the grid size right now, can someone confirm me?

Look in the populating the world thread. It has a map with the scale bottom left or look on the website for it, the map is there as well.

Darned!!!! I got involved and programmed half of night, just to realize that my homepage went down and I can't put the version I made for development tool up there. Well, soon...

In the meantime - if you don't have places where to put files online, try to find one!

I've made a tool that lets you enter information of your locations and turns it into javascript - when you put these javascripts online, you can share the url and load all the urls when initiating the map.

I'll inform you...

Repaired few bugs and tested the map with IE. One new small bug in IE but it's only cosmetic. If no-one is using the map I won't waste any more time for seeking bugs and developing the system. So if you want to use the map but have problems with it, please tell me.

IE doesn't seem to replace line breaks in JS creater - if you're using IE, you'll have to remove line breaks manually.

Good job on that S-K!

I'm looking to get involved in the project though I have a lot to look into first.

Thanks David! Nice Avatar btw [:D] (So you're addicted too!)

Updated - Added place for username, so if some place causes trouble you can address it's maker immediately. If you already had made JS files, you'll have to add username -field there manually. Also fixed the .js maker IE problem.

I don't know what everyone thinks of, but I'd like to see what's going to be on the map. I don't know yet if I can do dynamically borders of the countries, but what would be a quick thing to do would be adding names of countries and other larger sections to the map.

If you do, please remember to send the .js -links here so they can be seen by everyone! And if anyone is having trouble, please ask for advice!
