| CLIMATE: The land is temperate and the weather ranges from ragingly destructive winds to deathly calm quiet.
The land is in a perpetual civil war between a powerful deathknight lord, who controls a large fortress on the northeast side of the island and an ancient lich mage, who operates out of an underground temple which has an extensive cavern system that branches out from the western part of the island.
-NOTE- The entrance to the cavern system is highly sought after by the deathknight lord, and he and his army of dreadguard and lesser deathknights search for it day and night.
Both sides utilize the same recruiting method. Sending out their cadaver collectors to amass a small collection of undead. The collectors then return to their respective undead lords, who resurrect the lifeless bodies (even if they once fought for the enemy)
and thus, the war rages on. One old sailor tells a tale of stumbling onto the island by accident in his younger years and seeing two of the behemoths battling one another.
Both powerful undead lords are constantly trying to enlist the support of an undead pirate captain who controls the western coast, and a vast armada of undead pirates. *SPOILER* The pirate lord is secretly the true leader of the island and can at any time, summon an army of unmatched strength from the depths of the ocean. These undead march across the ocean floor day and night from any deep-sea shipwreck in the world. Some are still trying to reach the island after the pirate captain sent out his call over a century ago.
What would draw adventurers to this pit of desolation and death?
First off, a slew of powerful artifacts and magical items (both good and evil) are hidden in underground catacombs. They were sealed there to be studied by the lich, who, has since forgotten about them.
Secondly, there are tales of a gem located in one of the fortress towers that harbors the lifeforce of a deity which was destroyed during the 1st age of the world. The gem will confer 1d3 wishes to any living creature who touches it and also teleport said creature to a destination of his choice. Lastly, somewhere on the island, the pirate's treasure horde holds not only unsurmountable wealth, but also magical items and ancient knowledge for which kings would give up their kingdoms for.
So, be wary couragous adventurers and do not forget the information which I have imparted upon you.
