I know that this post doesn’t really belong here, but this is the only place that I think that this message can be announced.  So mods, please let this message hang around here so it can receive more traffic.

Back in the day the New World project was thriving with many new posts every day.  Well now the project has died.  It is time to get the clerics to raise it from the dead.  This time, although, we will take a different approach to the world.  I have set up a series of pages for this project.

I know some of you may be mad with this and others may be happy, but the “I claim this land” idea has to go.  Everybody gets a say to change any part of the world.  I have divided the world into areas with names that relate to what is in the area.  This will hopefully save time in the creation of this world.  These areas will then be broken up into kingdoms, towns, buildings, and so on.  We also want to remember to not get super detailed to a point where things get to long.  I have set up many interactive features for this world to keep people interested and to keep everyone involved (I’ll talk about these later).  To sum up the new approach, we will start small, focus on one area at a time, and expand out to other areas.

Many of you have already made excellent ideas for areas in the world.  I would never ask you to throw them away, but you may need to reduce its size (In most cases this shouldn’t happen.  For one, we will be using the same map you guys voted on here at Maxminis.  As we go along we will hold polls to change the world as we create it so all ideas have a chance to be put to work.  I also noticed that many people felt like they were swamped with work.  I hope that with this system a person only has to post up their idea and help it progress as others give constructive advice. ¼/P>

I have added a few things to keep people involved too.  Each area will have an official Survivor’s Guide.  These guides will give people all the information they need to know to survive in the area.  Every person that visits the site can write an entry into the guides.  All the entries will be written as if the person was a citizen or traveler in that area.  It is kind of hard to describe, but it can be a very good way to spice up an area.  You can also post and discuss your ideas with others in the forums.

In conclusion, I hope you are all willing to give the World Project another shot.  I hope to see many of you post your ideas and help create a world.

You can find the world here.  Click on the D&D link, and visit the map and forums.  Be sure to sign the guest book if you want to be a part of a unique world building experience, and it would be great to have a site like Maxminis behind the world builders.

I've been a part of this from the beginning. I'm currently the moderator of this, and have been for sometime trying actively and then passively to get this going. I use the map and a few other things in my campaigns. I have all the photos in my photobucket. And I'll always help make this bigger.

I'm with you Chuckles.

Since I last updated my 2 areas, I've come up with at lot of new info. I at least want to see my areas through. I'll talk with Acolyte and see if he's up for finishing his land too.
