Well... the other shoe finally dropped.
Without preamble or holding anything back it's pretty simple:
Effective November 30th, we will no longer hold license with Wizards of the Coast to produce data sets of any kind for any program.
Wizards of the Coast has declined to extend our agreement, initially citing no reason. Then, after speaking with our contact at-length, we got this explanation: "Because of Future Product Considerations."
Whether this means 4th Edition is looming, they're doing things in house, or they've decided to give a license to someone else, we simply don't know

| Care to propose another reason why WoTC might pull their product license with Code Monkey? Can't see why they would farm out to someone else the e-tools rights....
Maybe WoTC is simply going to develop and market their own electronic tool set again? Could be cool... | |

| I swear everytime some passes gas at Wizards people begin asking about 4th ed. I think this means that Codemonkey was charging to much or wanted a sweeter deal for the rights and WotC probly figured they could do it cheaper in house.
BTW isn't this a DDM forum? | |

| 4th edition will eventually come but I don't think that this is a harbinhger or it.
More likely it occured to someone at WOTC (or even more likely it was suggested by someone at Hasbro) that since they are part of a large company there is probably someone else within their own company that could do it for the same amount of money or less. That would increase the sales within Hasbro instead of giving the sales to someone else. | |

Yes, and many of us wouldn't buy the mini's or be part of these boards if D+D didn't exist. Discussion of the D+D roleplaying game is a valid topic.

| Hello,
I have to agree with Merric here. CMP seemed to be working out all of the bugs with E-tools over time, but I have to admit it was really slow gong in my opinion. I kept thinking I might buy the tool to help with DMing duties, but further promises of improvement were always around the corner.
We will see what WotC does now.
