I don't even know what Ultimate Spiderman is, so maybe it was a flop for me.

Honestly Wraith, you're one of the people I'm talking about.  Your ability to be upset about every single detail involving 4th edition apparently extends so far that you have a knee jerk dislike for something that you only know about because it was an example of how internet naysayers can be out of touch with the buying public.  It is very difficult to take a critic who hates everything seriously.

Do you like games John?

I never liked the ultimate books very much because they take place outside normal continuity.

They've made it clear that they're not turning D&D into some weird hybrid MMO or something (they're holding that "feature" back until 5th edition).

I'd really like to believe that isn't true, but I have my suspicians. I think you said it in jest but...............it might be closer to reality than we'd like to believe.

Yes, I said it in jest. I truly don't think that D&D will move away from the "people sitting around a table with pens and paper" model, even if they offer online/electronic options.

they're looking for a hypbrid, not a full switch. there's no reason not to have the technology of today be a useful accessory.

Anyone here played Vassal? WotC just wants a piece of the digital pie.

I don't hate everything, I just haven't heard anything that I have liked yet. If I do, I'll be the first to say, "Hey, that's a neat concept." Unfortunately, that hasn't happened yet, unless you count the combat example where the dragon breath catches someone on fire....That was cool.

I took a lot of similar flak when I bashed Unhallowed, but I thought the set sucked...still do. I then had inherently low expectations for Night Below, but was pleasantly surprised as it turned out to be one of my favorites and I said so on many occaisions.

As far as Spiderman goes, I'd never heard of it and was balancing a hungry baby in one arm and a bottle in the other hand while reading the forums....I wasn't in a position to type out a response about having never heard of it and not seeing what it had to do with the price of cheese in China, so a QFT had to do.

Hey Woman, Hey Woman!! Listen here. Since your ol' man ain't got no heart, maybe you'd like to see a real man. I bet you stay up late every night dreamin' you had a real man, don't ya'? I tell you what, bring your pretty little self over to my apartment tonight and I'll show you a real man!

Well you took my lighthearted comment very seriously and then you turn around and bash Wraithborne for taking everything seriously.Â

Just because information is available doesn't mean everyone cares enough about every topic to research it with the precious internet before carrying on a conversation.  Sometimes comments like that point out that, hey, you are bringing up something unrelated to the theme of this message board and assuming that everyone knows what you are talking about.  However, not everyone knows what you are talking about, so your comment isn't doing as much good or communicating as well your intended idea as you might think.  You could have taken the opportunity to politely inform me what Ultimate Spiderman was instead of giving a knee-jerk insult in response.

A more correct response from me would be that the Spiderman world isn't interesting to me, but it's fine that you are interested in the Spiderman world.

As far as Superbad is concerned, I have zero interest in seeing it.  The title itself pushes me away.  And please don't instruct me to take the time to find out what the movie is about before making a judgment--part of Hollywood's marketing job is to create titles and movies that appeal to people enough to generate their interest.  They failed with this title.  If the concept is anything like what the title leads me to think--a bad superhero--then I have no respect for it.  It takes much more strength of character trying to do good than to do bad.  If you wish evidence, look at the shear numbers in the world today.  If it were easy being good, then there would be a lot more people doing a much better job of it.

I'm in the same boat the only thing that I have seen good for me in 4th ed. is the Gcube and the A0O changes so far, hope they do the same for Turn undead as I find it too over powering in 3.5. I have zero interest in anything DI as I work on a computer all day and once in awhile chat on this. I don't want to game near or on one! I like having beers with buddies and using minis and 3d setups to game. Glad too see its still a option but the option for the DI part is more of turn off just knowing its there as a option. Turns me a away from 4th Ed. I dislike power-gaming, I dislike WOW and I love old school feeling of D&D so I will be most likely sticking to 3.5 or lower even later on. Will I check out 4th yes prob read through the PHB to see the changes, am I excited from what I have seen from 4th ED. Not At All! I don't want my game to be faster damn in 3.5 you jump levels fast enough...even too fast in 3.5
Theses are my opinions and I'm guessing some of the others on the board also.
As for the FLGS I have 3 near me in the grande city and they are all upset about the change. Numbers also count for research not just search engines. Read the final editorals in the last Dungeon and Dragons magazines to hear more sad stories. It almost brought a tear to my eye and my girlfriend (and she's not a gamer from a long shot).
p.s I'm a Spiderman fan.

You're right, not everyone bothers to know what they are talking about before giving an opinion.  That doesn't mean I have to respect it or let it slide.Â

It's been about a week since there has been any heated discussion, and the jokes continue. The continued jokes are a bit silly by now. Whatever discussion there was ended.
