| I'm curious with all this naysaying over the coming edition (as well as excitement) is anyone still playing 3.0 in this community. I remember a lot of folks swearing they wouldn't switch then. How many of us stuck to our guns.
I kinda regret switching. At the time I was playing a druid/shifter and I got burnt pretty bad when the DM switched the rules over (actually Derek houseruled a lot so the character was still satisfying). I've liked 3.5 but it wasn't really a huge improvement over a game that was already satisfying and fun. It was just errata run large.

| | I use a combination of the two. Mostly 3.5 with some 3.0 mixed in. I guess it's 3.33e | | You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com | |

| Seeing what they're coming up with for 4E, i guess i'm already at 3.55. Skill system is hybrid, planes and tieflings are similar, alignment appears to be hybrid too.

| I use 3.0 core, with 3.5 supplements, and some stuff from 2nd wherever it hasn't been converted to my satisfaction, and using adventures from Classic D&D (Isle of Dread, Keep on the Borderlands, Blizzard Pass, Endless Stair, Blackmoor, etc.). My 3.0 wizard still runs on spell points from P.O. Spells & Magic. Has done so since I converted him from 2nd.
My entire group has vetoed 4.0+. When the prices drop on the 3.0/3.5 books we'll grab 'em on the cheap.
I remember people saying that they weren't switching from 2nd when 3.0 came out. I thought that was kind of silly at the time, seeing all of the great improvements that they made to the game (yay for positive ACs!) I guess its my turn to get old and stodgy now. | | Harbinger: 80/80; Dragoneye: 60/60; Archfiends: 60/60 (Thanks, Meds!); GOL: 72/72 (Thanks Bonepinhimer!); Abberrations: 60/60; Death Knell: 60/60; Angelfire: 60/60 (Thanks Eprosen!); Underdark: 60/60; War Drums: 58/60; Rebel Storm: 60/60 (Thanks Ebay!); Clone Strike: 47/60; Revenge of the Sith: 56/60; Universe: 53/60; D&D Promos: 2; D&DB: 16/16. Won't make that mistake with 4.0 I agree with you completely here. I was a player instead of a DM for much of 3.0 so I was keen on all the stuff that boosted my heroes. I went into 3.5 mostly DMing with the positive attitude created from playing supplement enhanced (Adventure ruining) heroes. It didn't take long for the varnish to wear off.
For me 4.0 is a chance to start over. I'm not sure it will be any real improvement over 3.5 (all 3.5 needs was a few small changes and not an overhaul) but I'm definitely going into this with a far more restrictive attitude. | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

| I've not played 3.0 or 3.5 for a couple years now actually. Lately I caught the Pulp bug and have been going with Call of Cthulhu and Adventure. When I return to playing D&D again it will likely be the 3.5 core rules, Conan D20 or that Monte Cook Unearthed Arcana book.
