| I didn't know they played Dreamblade on Mount Celestia. I guess I'll just be happy with the angels I already have and my wallet will rest easier with yet another race of minis that I'll never need to buy again.
Here's a link to the article.
http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dramp/20071121&authentic=true
And the pertinent passage:
Second, this set showcases the first of our updates to the look and feel of D&D monsters. Now, when a monster looks just great, we've left it alone. But in cases where we felt we could improve the look of a monster, we've taken this opportunity to do so. Our new look for angels, for example, debuts in this set with the Angel of Vengeance. It's otherworldly, looks powerful, and has just the right mix of awe-inspiring and creepy to better define these servants of the gods.
If only the second sentence were true. | | Hey Woman, Hey Woman!! Listen here. Since your ol' man ain't got no heart, maybe you'd like to see a real man. I bet you stay up late every night dreamin' you had a real man, don't ya'? I tell you what, bring your pretty little self over to my apartment tonight and I'll show you a real man!

| Someone at WotC R&D must think these "dreamblade" style angels look cool... Personally I think it looks like the artist attempted to disguise a lack of skill or competance, by bluring the appearance of the figure. And if WotC check back on sales of dreamblade they might guess that a lot of their customers don't like this style of "art".

| I am indifferent about the new angel. It might be used at some point, but probably not.
This has been the case for plenty of minis in the past, so I am not particularily concerned. | | Champion of the Aspect of Gruumsh Nemesis of Gnomes and Warforged

| | Sorry but I'll be sticking with the Reaper Angels from now on. They may not have pretty clear plastic. but at least they don't look like an escapee from a surrealist painting. | | Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul | |

| | Yeh, I'll throw in my dischorde. Changing the concept of angels sucks about as much as making tieflings core (which, imo, is a whole bunch). Looks like I'm going to be writing a whole lot of homebrew campaigns and fluff in the future - assuming I convert. | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | Since I don't use many (well, any really) good-aligned outsiders in my campaigns, I consider the Angel redesign a good thing. My wallet is happy since I can reduce my miniatures purchases even further. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? | | the angel of vengeance isn't an angel, it's a phantom creature I can use as an evil encounter. | | Just a simple traveler from the swamps of Dagobah otherwise known as Florida. | I'm a little trapped in the Judeo-Christian, Greco-Roman, Milton-inspired notion of angels too. But, frankly, I don't dislike the Angel of Vengeance, and I don't mind them taking some Dreamblade-like directions with some of the minis. I'm sure I'll be up in arms about something eventually though.

| | WizKids had the look of the new angles long before Dream Blade was even created, take a look at the Solonavi in Mage knight and compare them to the Angle of Vengeance | | | |

| | See I like the Solonavi. Their warriors have that interesting energy slug face going. I thought the solonavi in turned look like something out of one of the Final Fantasy games.
Anyways, if Wotc made a Solonavi pc or npc race I'd be cool with that. Taking angels and making them look decidly non-angelic is not cool with me. | | Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul

I don't know anything about Mage Knight, but I couldn't agree with the last statement more. I think they achieved more of a robotic look than an ethereal one. The lack of a face reminds me of the faceless robot zombie from an old episode of Scooby Doo that walked around dragging one of it's feet saying, "Coin....coin!" over and over.
Hmm....perhaps it's a new Warforged Angel. | | Hey Woman, Hey Woman!! Listen here. Since your ol' man ain't got no heart, maybe you'd like to see a real man. | I really like the Angel of Vengeance. At least how it should look anyway. I think the pose is a little flat but the idea is great. I've always wondered why in the multi-racial universe of D&D angels are all either human, elf, or beast shaped. Where are the gnome, dwarf, halfling, etc Solars and so forth. Or were those gods served by human-like angels. The angel of vengeance has a true otherworldly look to it and a DM can inform players that the "aspect of the otherworldly being before you resembles whatever the hero expects a divine agent to look like". | | Robert Rosehart Champion of the pixie

Warforged need a heaven and a deity too...
Makes me wonder: If deity's are made by faith (see decree of AO) then, if enough Warforged believe, could they make a construct Deity? See the legend of Tchazzar for more reference...

| Sean-Khan, that's a very nice looking angel mini - about as close to canon as they come.
But, back on topic. I'm in the minority because I actually like the look of the Angel of Vengeance. I like the older style celestials too, so either way, I'll be happy. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.
