I love the Shadowfell product.
I like the presentation with the folder, the maps, the booklets.
I have however experienced some smearing, as others have mentioned.

I saw the PDFs of the Core books, and was unimpressed.
I mentioned I'd not purchase them.

I loved Into the ShadowHaunt.

I had some Store Credit, and took home the Monster Manual 4E.

Does that make me a Bad Person?

It has pretty pikshers, dammit!

Stephen, you crack me up. I really liked the artwork in the 4e MM, though the handful of pieces that were recycled from the 3.5 MM were rather disappointing.

yeah, recycled pictures = FAIL. but there weren't too many, and seeing how everyhting has an illustration now i can see the need for it.

I guess that if you're really starting to play you'll want to buy all the core books (so much more handy & comfortable), but otherwise I don't see any reason you should.

I don't mind a few recycled images as there isn't much, but I'm worried about that smearing... How bad is it? How easily does it happen, how bad it makes the text/images? I wonder what will happen if you happen to pour your soda on the book... Is the page content gone instead of page just being damaged.

I haven't had time to find out yet, but trust me, I will. I've been gaming for years and I have seen a definite decrease in quality, from the miniatures to the books. My AD&D books that's 25 years old is still in one piece whereas one of my 3.5 PHBs is missing the front cover.

I haven't had time to run the 4e books through the abuse test yet, but I will. Trust me, I will.

As for recycled pics, most I like......... The Dryad though? Why isn't it a naked girl? Why has it gone from elvish looking to a plant? And it's type is now plant too......

And finally, page 36 of the PHB, the female dwarf has a 5 o clock shadow lurking about. Female dwarves were bearded ladies back then, remember Gimli? ;)

Seriously though, the pictures are great and their recycled pictures are fine too. All except for a few discrepancies from original lore, myth, and the earlier editions of DnD. I love the Blue and Dragon by far the most of all the other pictures... Ok, the Orcs too. :)

I always try to send through delivery confirmation, and I expect the same. It's only 55 cents extra, so it's just a little more than a pay phone call, so just do it for the Kai. I prefer to trade with people in the US and Canada, sorry everyone else.

I noticed the Wyrm mage thing as recycled from Call of Cthulhu.

What about the Pseudodragon? It seems to have been turned into a puppy now? ADnD, that poison was save or die. Then it became a powerful sleep poison, now it's just damage?

From dragons to reptiles... And also making them rather potent, 1d8+4 damage per hit? Ouch...

Actually, it's the 4e version of the 3.5 worm that walks (from the ELH). That is one case where I DO wish they'd used the older artwork.

They've also invalidated the Blue Dragon Lair map too...unless that's beach sand
