So has anyone actually sat down and made a monster using the new DMG rules? So far I've worked with the templates here and their for various critters, but haven't just sat down and worked one yet that hasn't been placed in an MM or won't. Just curious on what you have done or come up with.
If I kill off a 5th level party with only 3 kobolds that were based off Spartans, have I failed or succeeded at my job as a DM?

Since I'm pretty lazy I just use the DMG guidelines for 'fudging' monsters. Pick a monster from the MM which has stats close to what you want, change the description of the creature, voila...new creature. This also strongly discourages metagaming players from memorizing MM stat blocks.

Nope. I haven't even had time to really start reading my books. It's been a bad week.
I'm looking forward to it though. My whole campaign has always been rather customized, so I'm glad that there are guidelines.

I'm considering looking through CoC D20 and doing a few conversions, but there's a bit on my plate right now.
Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void - without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe - anything at all - you would have hidden from it in terror.
