Being a DM and seeing how important encounters are going to be. Has anyone found a good way to figure out how long an encounter should go or when to seperate encounters. I want my players to be able to get good use out of their encounter powers but I dont want to make it to short or too long. Has anyone had problems with this?

You just kind of have to feel it out. It'll vary from party to party.

I haven't played 4e enough times to know. But, given how specific the power of adversaries are supposed to be for each party level, it seems that there will be rather natural break points.

I would guess that we'll begin to see a bell curve for how many rounds a typical encounter will last. I can only make wild guesses right now, but I'd be surprised if there were too many more than 12 rounds in a typical encounter. Solo monsters might be different.
