Anything that's heavy on 3.5 "crunch" will NOT find its way into my buy pile.

Anything that's fluffy enough for me to use with 4E will at least get a look.

I'm not likely to switch editions. I'll still be buying 3.5.

You know, I keep thinking that after the new design team gets done with D&D 4e, D&D won't stand for Dungeons and Dragons anymore, because well, that's just not fun. It's old and stuffy. - Originally Posted by BabWryter on Kenzerco.com

I sure hope so... I still only own the 3.5 PHB and until I (well, my DM really) make up my mind on 4e, all new purchases are on hold. (including minis)

I will probably not buy any more books until 4e. I may, possibly, drop a few bucks for a 3.5e book if I can find it for a really, really good deal somewhere (such as $5 for Bo9S or MMV, for example).

I will not be buying any more 3.x books, period. I have more than enough unused material on my shelf to last until 4th edition comes out.

I will continue to buy 3.5.

I have no intention of switching to 4.0 no matter what the product is like. I made that decision 3 years ago when I started investing heavily in 3.5.

The fact that everything I have seen on 4th edition doesn't appeal to me makes it vthat much easier to stick to my decision.

I just picked up Expedition to Greyhawk Ruins. I plan to pick up Fortress of the Yuan-ti.

Generally speaking, though, I'm not terribly impressed with most of the Q4 3.5 lineup so I doubt I'll be buying much else (well, Inn-Fighting looks cool but it's a separate entity). Q1 '08 will be intriguing. I wonder what they have planned to "WoW" the D&D audience between death of 3.x and birth of 4.x?

I think because Ghendar and i have the same first name, we must have the same brilliant thoughts.

I'm exactly the same way. FR stuff I'll get, and good fluff. Rules Compendium, not so much.

Well a friend borrowed my Complete Scoundrel a few months ago and it's now MIA. The character that I'm running is using some stuff out of that book so it will likely be replaced.

After that - I don't know. If they release a book with something in it that I know that I'll use within the next year I might buy it. I might buy something with substantial fluff . I won't buy a book that has some cool feat or PRC in it that I might someday use.

They've basically put an expiration date on their current products.

I haven't seen any books on the release schedule that have interested me, even before 4e was announced.  I'm not sure if that was intended or an indirect result of WoTC being limited to making edition neutral books.

Of the current releases out I'm on the fence about the expedition series.  I still am working through Expedition to Undermountian, if I like it I may get others.

One thing that the DI may do well is expand on books like the Expedition series that really aren't well contained to a book (or two box sets and various modules if you are old like me).  World's Biggest Dungeon probably comes the closest, but since it's encounters could only be derived from OGL material its telephone book size was probably smaller than what could be made with all the available DnD material.  With the DI, an Expedition book could be expanding content that receives frequent updates that map out/provide encounters for more and more of the dungeon.

I'll be picking up a 3.x book here and there as I have been all along, though mostly sniping cheap ones on ebay now. I'm not making the switch to 4e, but with all of the books I still want to get eventually, it'll be like they're still making new books for me for some time.

The year: 1994. From out of space comes a runaway planet, hurtling between the Earth and the Moon, unleashing cosmic destruction! Man's civilization is cast in ruin!
Two thousand years later, Earth is reborn...
A strange new world rises from the old: a world of savagery, super science, and sorcery. But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice! With his companions Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel, he pits his strength, his courage, and his fabulous Sunsword against the forces of evil.
He is Thundarr, the Barbarian!

I'll still continue to buy adventure and FR region books. Chances are anything that's too 3.5 rules heavy will now be given some distance. At least until we know just how compatible/incompatible they are, since D20 is still the rules set they're going with.

A couple from our play group are forward thinking types assuming that 4e will be worth switching to. Others are slower to change, and hesitate to place another big investment into a new system. So, the jury's still out over here.

I have just (literally 2 days ago) gotten Drow of the Underdark and MMV. My only other 3.5 purchases wil now be, Rules Compendium.

Why? One of the groups I play with is sticking with 3.5E... so I am keeping at most 3-4 of my 3.5E books. Expect alot of books to be placed on my trade thread as 4E gets nearer.

Well since I exclusivley run Dragonlance games I'll continuew to support Sovriegn Press and the incredible 3.5 Dragonlance products they produce. They still have two new products comming out before Wizard's yanks their license in Jan or Feb 08. Especially since I won't see a Dragonlance 4E book until 2-3 years after the initial 4e rollout according to WotC....If I see one at all. That all being said I won't be switching over to 4E unless they start working on DL products.

Miniature gaming is an addiction....Just say no.

I want the Greyhawk adventure and the Yuan-ti adventure.

I want to flip through the rules compendium just because it could be a good laugh. I still laugh at the idea of a Rules Compendium. It's a poorly worked game system that needs a rules compendium to be printed after core books are out that are supposed to have all the rules you need to run a game.

Since I am not planning on getting 4.0, I may pick up some additional 3.5 books if they get discounted a lot.

I am much more interested in well-made adventures and long adventures than in splat books.

I think I will be branching out to third party publishers for adventures. The problems are, I can't really look through the adventures much unless I will be the DM, I can't look through adventures I don't see in person (and a lot of 3rd party stuff is sold over the internet).

It could be a good thing. The only problem is, I really don't like the formatting of the Dungeon Crawl Classics. It isn't easy to read and isn't very good, aesthetically.

Nope, I stopped buying 3.5 books over a year ago.  I wasn't terribly interested in the setting specific books, nor the character guides.  My last purchase was Heroes and Horror I think.

They planned on making many of the new books released between now and 4th ed more fluff than crunch. Look at some of the titles and descriptions. It's an effort to bring "timeless" books that have little connection to editions. We'll see how well it goes.

I for one am going to be getting several of the newer books, especially Grand History of the Realms. That one should be fantastic.

I've been picky about the books I've gotten for the past year, so I'm going to be even more picky now. I don't really like the idea of a 4E, expecially since 3.5 is only 4 years old. I think it's cheap on WOtC to put this out so soon. I'm also not very keen on the new online versions of Dragon and Dungeon magazines. However, I have enuf material to play for the next 50 years, so I don't know how much more I'll get. MM 5 looked pathetic, so that was an easy choice to leave alone.

I'll be extreemly picky before buying anything new until I decide whether to go the 4E route.  Even then, it'll take a good module (do they still call them modules?) to convince me I need to switch.  The only think 4E has done is convince me not to buy MMIV and MMV.  I'll never get any use from them.
