I'm looking to build a optimal halfling brawny rogue. The flavor would be to melee strike and then move away. The character is 2nd level. Im thinking of taking the rapier proficiency as one feat in order to do the most damage. Can i take 2 weapon and attack with 2 rapiers? If not what weapons can be used with 2 weapon.

Unless you are a Ranger, you have to use a weapon that has the 'Off Hand' Classification in your off hand (Such as a Dagger, Sicle, or a Katar). That being said, unless you are planning to get the Two-Weapon Fighting feats, having a second weapon in your hand is virtually useless, except for possbily being able to throw one (like a dagger or something).

Rapiers are the most Damaging weapon's for the Rogue in melee; you could go with a Rapier/Dagger combo, and, since you're Second Level, if you WANTED too, you could take both two weapon fighting feats (& use a short Sword & Dager for now). That would give you +1 AC, +1 Ref, and +1 to damage with your main weapon. I don't believe that's a feat bonus, so that would technically stack with other Feats like Weapon Focus.

However, if you are wanting to simply deal as much damage as possible, then it's probably best to stick with taking the Rapier feat and Backstabber (Which turns your Sneak Attack damage from 2d6 to 2d8--a net gain of +2 average damage per shot. That ain't nothin' to sneeze at.

As for powers, well Riposte strike is an obvious one for damage dealing, since Str will likely be your second highest stat. Deft strike is all about darting two squares before attacking--that's what you had described as something that you wanted to do.

If you want to be able to retreat hastily, then Tumble would be your Utility power of choice.

Another way of maximizing your damage would be to take the Multiclass Ranger feat. then you could get a Hunter's Quarry once per encounter on a BBG for an additional 1d6 per shot; that would make your base damage on a sneak 3d8 (rapier & Sneak) + 1d6 (quarry) + Str mod + Dex mod (at possibly +4 each). That's an average of up to 25 dmg per shot, not counting any special attack you may use or Magic weapon. That's pretty darn brawny all right!

Are you set on a hafling for a brawny rogue? A dragonborn seems to fit in very well as a Brawny rogue too. And the new starter will have a mini for him.
