WOTC_IanRichards: Hey everyone
DariusTAD: Hello Ian
glumaniac: welcome Ian! :)

WOTC_IanRichards: I'm Ian Richards and I head OP for Minis and the RPGA
True_Blue: hey Ian

WOTC_IanRichards: Glad to finally get to meet some of you guys!
WOTC_IanRichards: Anyway I'm sure you've been updated from here so lay the questions on me

ktatroe: Will this upcoming championship season be Triad or Assault?
WOTC_IanRichards: Great question and one we're keeping in our back pocket just now *-) I've been asked that about 100 times this weekend already.

ktatroe: The Epic cards for older minis are great for old hat players, but they're not great for drawing new players in, which the tiles and maps were. Any plans for incorporating maps in OP (other than the corrected Broken Demongate), or for other items that can help draw new players in?
WOTC_IanRichards: We're always working to bring in maps and other meta materials to add that dimension. The Epic cards will soon be for current minis in the sets that are recently released so they can get the minis right there. Long way of saying 'yes' 8-)

True_Blue: Do you like the process of 1 a month?
WOTC_IanRichards: It's not viable for us to make a different map a month. We'll continue to make them for the championships etc (like we did last year) and then include them in kits. I'm not keen on getting them into just 1 month only as there is limited numbers of those kits and that may result in them being unavailable to newer players or players at stores who are unfortunate not get a kit

herschel: How do you decide which minis to repaint for the retailer kits? Is the color scheme from the artist's alternate work, or internal?
WOTC_IanRichards: It's decided by me based on me seeing the first sculpts. Obviously we can't alt paint a skeleton so we look for something interesting and useful to both minis players and rpg players that is recognisably repaintable. Oh and I spell like a drunken llama so please ecuzze *-)

WOTC_IanRichards: It's an effect of auto check on computers now *-)
WOTC_IanRichards: it's my excuse and I'm sticking to it *-)

Sammael: What is the extent of WotC support for the European DDM championship this spring?
DariusTAD: I will add: alepulp is very curious about this.
WOTC_IanRichards: Right now none. It's something that a player decided to organize themselves. I saw it after you guys brought to my attention so...
WOTC_IanRichards: Needless to say I was pretty much straight on the phone talking to my Country folk about getting involved

Toxic_Rat: Would there ever be a "best of epic" supplement made that had several cards all in one, available for retail?
WOTC_IanRichards: It's too early to say. OP tends to pioneer these issues and we gauge how they are from there. which leads me to...
WOTC_IanRichards: The internal league is my test bed of wacky ideas for DDM development

Amator: Question for Ian: I know you guys have to create Warforged minis for PCs, but why is it we have as many warforged in this set as we do gnomes in all 9 sets?
WOTC_IanRichards: LOL that's a great question and one for Jesse... Jesse went on record for loving Gnomes and since that Dragon article he's produced just 4 Gnomes

robbdaman: Origins seems to be getting less WotC and RPGA presense this year, why is that?
WOTC_IanRichards: That's a company decision due to a lot of factors and I'm not certain of all of those. We're working with Brad Shrugg and Peter Lee to bring a comprehensive amount of tournaments (all sanctioned) to Origins even without my ugly face being present

Mindtrick: Can we expect to see 4-5 uniques in each set or will those numbers increase as the rank and file MM are burned through?
WOTC_IanRichards: Sadly again that's one for R&D folk...

Ghendar: will we have a vintage tourney at gencon indy?
WOTC_IanRichards: Hah! If only I had an endless supply of Harbinger

WOTC_IanRichards: Just a heads up... I'm a Looooooooong time minis player and have played in the UK competitive minis for more years than I pretend I actually am. Sadly arriving here at Wizards I get little time to be competitive outside of the company
I will state I had the pleasure of getting stomped by him this weekend.

I spoke with him about the 20 minute speed rounds I ran at my FLGS a few weeks ago.

Horray.. I touched a famous person. :P
ps: I love this game.

Note that where he said they have the 2nd championship starting at Indy in 2006 and said Limited, I'm pretty sure he was actually referring to the Epic championship.
