| ##EDIT## I just had someone mail me regarding the webcast and tell me that they hadn't posted feedback since it was just a duplicate of what other people were saying. PLEASE POST, period! Its like a signature on a petition. If you enjoyed the webcast, please add to the post count either on the wizards board or here. Its your feedback that will help determine the future of webcasted events.##EDIT##

Hi folks,
If you could take a moment and provide some feedback to WOTC on the webcast, it would be much appreciated. If you don't have a WOTC account, please post it here... but it would be nice to get all the feedback consolidated in one place if possible. Thanks! | | Thanks for the memories. :)

| excellent job by both the mods and Rav.
It was my first time on IRC I followed dariustad instructions and had no problem.(Patients was appreciated when I asked what turned out to be a pretty dumb question about why I couldn't post.)
It was fun and informative, well sort of Shoe did talk around a few things but non disclosure agreements will do that (and I think he like to mess with our minds a little [:)]).

| | It worked pretty well. A few lighting issues early in the day with heavy shadows making it hard to see some details, but the shift to another background and location improved things a lot. The side cam was a nice touch, but often the mini was not well positioned to get a great deal of detail. The second cam was very amusing to watch while it was focused on the participant of the IRC at the Con end and the changing expresssion with each update. If another webcast happens, I would suggest a few things for the shots, perhaps turning the mini in 90 degree increments to show all sides. Little things like that. It is easy to get greedy when offered such wonderful diversions. I think a measure of the success can be made by looking at the number of people who will never get their saturday back from the webcast....thanks. | | Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project.... http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Zenako last updated 29 May 2006 Set Status: in a nutshell = all of all In Process trades 0), (Sig last updated 05/29/06) 300 plus Completed Trades -

Good feedback, Zen, and stuff I was aware of and wish I could have improved on at the time.
1. I wanted to bring along some canister lights, but I was out of room to pack them and had no time to purchase them. The hotel was able to supply a table lamp for me later on. The camera (a standard webcam) does wacky things when light conditions are different. If I had it to do over, I would have used a higher quality cam with auto-focus (and maybe zoom) to allow me to give better detail.
2. The side cam (a Sony clip cam) performed very poorly. I should have used one of my other cameras, but they were mistakenly left at my hotel (I wasn't staying at the Hyatt and had no time to return once the webcast was underway). Needless to say, the Sony won't be used for detail shots again.
I was also a little limited by the figures. I purchased all the remaining pre-release tickets I could get my hands on to show off additional figures, and then grabbed whoever was walking by so I could borrow their figures for a shot (fortunately I had some extra rares on me to give them for bribes/compensation for their time). Random distribution makes it difficult to get a complete set, and I was pretty much resigned to not getting a shot of a Dragon Totem Hero until Kiddoc brought one by.
Taking stills madly was nice, and provided great detail, but also resulted in some out-of-focus shots that could have been corrected with a live view. If I had a "gopher" with me so I could keep working while they tracked down and borrowed the appropriate miniatures, that would have been ideal.
Anyhow, keep the feedback coming. We didn't have much time to plan this one, but I think there's plenty of positives to work on and only a few negatives which could easily have been eliminated with a little proper planning and more time. | | Thanks for the memories. :)

Great Job to Rav for posting, providing, picture taking, and not sleeping (there a p-word for that [:p]) You ar truely our savior of WF.
Great job to the mods for putting up with record-setting attendance. Standing room only and you guys did a great job at controlling us and our insanity. Much thanks to Darius for being able to put up with swarms of PM's everytime the word MODERATE came up.
Thanks a lot to the WotC staff for taking time out of their probably busy day to come and answer a few questions here and there. Thanks for showing active support of possibly your most avid supporters [:)]

| RAV,
The webcast was completely incredible, I just wish I could have joined in while at Winterfantasy. I had so much going on with getting the Maxminis event prep and getting killed in my events, that I never got to head over.
Everyone who went over to chat said it was great, so maybe next time I'll be able to participate.

DariusTAD, Glumag, [and crew] thanks a ton for all the time and effort you guys put into actually moderating the IRC chat and making our guests feel welcome. | | The webcast portion was great. The IRC thing had a high learning curve and was a bit frustrating at times. I don't know how many IRC comments I made that were ignored. After a while, I pieced it together that while we had a visitor, only the moderators comments appeared for everyone else to read. I did send in some questions to the moderators, but I guess my questions weren't as good as some of the others, since there was not any response to those. Now that I know that this is what IRC is like, I will know more what to expect and won't be as frustrated or confused next time. A big part of that frustration/confusion was due to how tired I was since it was so early in the morning for me. Overall, I think good questions were selected by moderators to ask the visitors. Overall, my appreciation for the help of the webcast crew and IRC crew is a lot higher than my frustration. Thanks, guys. | | "Look to God and live." | I had a great time attending the webcast and IRC session. It is always good to have face time with the designers and it was obvious that they pay close attention to the things that the community says.
I was very impressed at how consistently active the event was – there was not a lot of dead time, there was always something interesting happening (“guess that rare!”). This took a lot of effort on your part and I appreciated it.
It’s not nearly the same as attending myself but it was the next best thing. Awesome job. I look forward to next one. | | Champion Of Hydras

| A few thoughts.
I liked the concept of the webcast - it gave those of us who didn't get to go to WF a chance to participate in some of the excitement of the new minis (and something to do on a Saturday morning). I also liked that there was a bit of a contest (even though the war troll let me down in guess the rare).
One thing I would've liked to have seen was a chance to look at all of the minis. I know WOTC usually has a display of minis in their booths (well, they did at Gen Con and Origins). Perhaps getting pics of that could be possible.
Also, one suggestion for when the pics get posted - cropping images is a wonderful thing to those of us dinosaurs who still use dial-up. ;-)
I'd love to see more of these in the future, both for minis (although I don't buy in the quantities that some do) and other RPG product.

During the webcast we did run into a couple cases where people on slower connections were not able to receive image updates before it was time for the next image. If I wind up doing this again, its actually pretty easy for me to set up a second webcast feed which would send lower-resolution shots... not reducing quality, just cutting down on the extra views. This would allow slower connections to keep pace with the rest of the attendees. I'm sorry it was a frustrating experience for some of you... I did what I could at the time to mitigate the issues. | | Thanks for the memories. :)

| I enjoyed (what I saw) of the webcast and IRC. It was pretty neat being able to "chat" with the guys at WF. I'm glad someone was also able to log the chat so that people who missed it could see it later.
One possible suggestion (and it may not be entirely feasible due to time) is to keep the unasked questions saved and give them to the designers after so maybe they could answer them as well. | | "Today is gone. | I really enjoyed participating in the WF webcast event. Even though I couldn't be there it was the next best thing. Definately worth getting up early for.
Viewing the webcast was as easy as clicking on a URL-- even a techno- gorilla like me can follow that line to the banana.
I think Rav and everyone involved in running the event deserve two thumbs up-- they did a great job. Even greater when you consider that they made it happen in less than a week!
The only thing I'd change is that the lighting was a bit dim for the figure reveals that I saw which made it hard to see some of the finer details. Again I feel like I am splitting straws here.
