| OK, I posted information about the Winterfantasy Maxminis event and informaiton on the Gencon 06 event in the tourmaments threads. Please takes some time to go and add, comment, or sticky (Chris [)])

| Just to let people know, we are now at 23 interested in playing in the Maxminis event at Gencon.
We will set the event up so people can register through Gencon for a ticket to this event. This will garuntee us space to have it in the minis hall.
What this also means is that once we announce that the event is up for grabs, even people who don't know about Maxminis may join it. We will need o give it a wierd name so many people will skip it over and let more Maxminis players join first.
I'm thinking we will need 64 slots. | |

If we wanted to prevent others from jumping in before those who have "pre-registered" here, can one person just buy up all the slots and then get reimbursed by those who are supposed to be in? | |

| I'm sure my best friend Dave I mentioned in the tournament thread will be interested in playing too as long as it won't conflict with any Living Greywhathaveyou game he's been playing for the past couple years in. I'm not even sure how he keeps a character sheet for that long without losing it.

I don't "think" there is any need for some so drastic as these idea's. We'll probably put a cap on the tourney of 64 or so (20 more than last year), but maybe even higher. With the right notifications in the right places, we can make sure the the MaxMini's people know that they need to buy their ticket early. It worked just fine for WF (from all I heard). At the same time, making it an open event does help increase interest for the game, and this site!

I'm not sure we will have to many people jumping in to play in an event called maxminis draft. Unless they know what the heck the site is and what we will be doing. Remember there are a lot of minis games and DDM is only one, maybe one of the best but still only one.
Ack, thanks for the bump. As more people are signing on after a long weekend of gaming or chatting, I know many people missed this orinigally.

Very true. So I would rather shoot for 64 slots and have a few left over then limit it to 32 and have people not get to play.
We will have people drop, but we did get several people who had not signed up show up to play. | |

nice idea but it wouldn't work because GenCon event preregistration only allows you to buy 2 tickets for a specific event, except true dungeon and true heros which lets you buy 7.

| One problem with running the evnet and not having it an official event at Gen Con is space. The first year we held it in the hotel, but we had only 12 players. Last year we used the WotC tables, but we were just taking up space.
If it is official we will have space and we will not get bumped for somethingelse that is happening. It is a danger that we might get some other players, but we need to weigh the pros and cons. | |

The real problem will be making sure folks not familiar with this site or the tournament know what is expected of them. Basically we don't want people showing up without the materials needed to participate, i.e. not having 2 sealed boosters and some sort of prize with them. | |

This is actually not a problem. There is a description of the event that will instruct people to bring boosters, and "prizes to be equitably distributed" amonst the players with a value of at least $15.00. Value is subjective, don't let the price scare you. But what it WILL do, is serve as a deterrent for those who are casually interested ($6.00 in tickets, plus boosters, plus $15.00 prize? for a 4 round unsanctioned event?).
As I've said, with propoer notice here on the boards, I'm not worried about the event being taken over by "outsiders". Even if 5-10 people from off board come, guess what: I bet they come check out the site when they get back from the con!
