| Worst paint job award EVER, goes to the Frost Dwarf. Great sculpt, frickin aweful paint job!
Arcane Ballista, love em. They look awesome lined up, I have 4.
Wemic, ugly with flimsiest weapon in history, but I still want more.
Epic cards are red on one side, but blue on the other. Never noticed this before.
5 cases, only one missing was the Khumat (as in zero).
Highlite Pulls: 5 War Trolls, 4 Hill Giant Warchiefs, 4 Ogre Warhulks phew...
Lame Pulls: 4 Snigs, 4 Warforged Barbs, 4 Aspects of Hextor, 3 Warbound Impalers...
Wanted More: 3 Wemics, 1 Chimera only...
Seeing as tomorrows tourney should net me a few more minis just by playing, I guess I'll post my have/wants saturday evening or so.

| Nice pulls. I'll take those extra Snigs off your hands. I'll look for your trade thread on Sunday.

| | I think the wemic looks pretty good. EXCEPT: yeah his weapon is a joke, the pole is so flimsy. The biggest problem with him is he has the soft curves. I think he was done by the same sculptor as the dark naga, flind, and tanurak. for one thing the paint itself doesn't look good, the 'blue' is really odd shade for ice or frost. The axe is the exact same color as his skin and beard. The paint on the axe and hand has bled over onto his cloak (at least on mine).
basically the entire mini is two colors periwinkle blue for the beard, axe, skin (and part of the cloak) and a dull gray for all the armor and cloak. If you look close I guess you can see some silver highlights on the armor.
There is a lot of detail in the mini but its hidden under all the same colors. I can live with and even learn to like the paint job on the armor but the beard/skin/axe color is just horrible to me and has a slop-n-go look (KOTDT reference [:)]). | | | |

It is really disappointing, the skin face is caked on and unfortunately very think on the face. The sculpt is great as it looks like a mini fros giant but the paintjob is thick all over and makes this a candidate for paint removal before repainting...something that some of us know is almost impossible to do unless you feel like playing with brake fluid.
The Wemic's weapon is a joke indeed, flimsy and all that but the award to flimsiest should go to the Skeletal Legionnaire, holy crap, they are actually very soft to the touch, almost rubbery in the legs, a couple of mine look like they are doing the limbo. | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! | I'm awaing my order from Auggie for my frost dwarf, but in the meantime I'll ask.....
Has anyone contacted WotC customer service to complain about a messed up paint job and request a new mini with a fixed paint job? After all, if it' horribly painted (compared to the poster), wouldn't that qualify as a defective return?
If everyone does that, perhaps they'll get the hint that their manufacturer is doing substandard painting and work to correct it.

There's no way that will happen. People can be so picky about any little thing and guys love to complain. I can imagine a wave of people sending minis back just because a minis red belt had a spot of black paint on one side. Or his Deep Dragon's wings didn't have as nice of a purple tint as a guys he saw at a tournament. | | Miniatures for sale *more added 11/26/08*: Click here I will buy your unwanted D&D WotC minis collection (DDM only). | I must say, other than a few select figs, I'm REALLY happy with this sets distribution 16/21/23! BIG FAN. I feel like very little was a waste. (hunting cougars, wood elf rangers, inspired lt., orcs, and girallons aside)
I'm thinking little frosty jr was a last minute addition to the set... I mean - it's an uncommon and there are many commons better painted than this. Anyway, I would like at least 3 War Trolls, 2 Hill Giant Chieftain, 2 Chimeras, 3 War HUlk Ogres,... Would 6 cases be enough for that? Ended up with duplicate Arcane Ballista, Sand Giant, Aspect of Moradin, Snig, Chimera, and King Obould.

wow, that's lucky! with three cases and a starter coming up, I hope I will get somewhere shy of 4 miniatures to complete the set. hope for multiples of HGB, HGC, OWH, and the Wemic. keeping my fingers crossed.

| We haven't gotten our cases yet, but picked up a few boosters and a starter pack from the FLGS and I gotta say... that frost dwarf really does have an freaking horrible paint job. I can't paint for jack and I think I could do a massive improvement of a paint job. Out of 3 boosters and a starter though, we got 2 Aspect of Hextor's, an Arcane Ballista, and a Chimera!!

| Nice pulls greyhaze. I'm glad you're happy with 4 arcane ballistas. If I pull more than one they go instantly into the trade queue.
I'm actually kind of happy to hear that the Frost Dwarf has a good sculpt + bad paint job. It'll motivate me to repaint the mini Frost Giants (assuming I pull one or two when my cases arrive).

| Hehe.. you should see my snigs.. one of them has almost no yellow to him at all so he is almost completely the black undercoat colour.. he looks like he's in night-camo makeup or something. My second one is really nicely done except that his worg has quarterback grease marks under his eyes for some reason.. maybe snig pulled the ol' trick binoculars gag on him or something. And yeah.. frost dwarf blue = bad (if they were white, with a hint of a dry-brush of that blue, it would have been 50 times better).

| | I'm one of those who thinks the paint quality has deteriorated from Underdark. I was very happy with the paint jobs in Underdark thinking it couldn't get any better. I was right, it got worse! What happened? With the frost dwarf, warpriest of Moradin (what's with the dirty head), Inspired lieutenant, Lion of Talisid, and Flameskull, the uncommons have taken a dive. I showed these to my RPG group yesterday and they couldn't believe these were from the new set. They looked like they could have been from Harbinger. Some of the commons (terror wight, quaggoth slave, and derro) looked better than these uncommons. Especially when you compare the derro to the frost dwarf, big difference in quality. I like the paint job on the Arcanix guard, but it looks like she could play for the WNBA (she's a little tall). And who thought we needed another earth elemental type? We just got the loyal earth elemental, what's with the wall? Some of the choices for this set were not that great. Of course it all isn't enough to keep me from buying the damn things. I got like 12, plus 3 repaints, they all seemed pretty good (except some of the faces sometimes).
Maybe they put the primer on and then ended up touching it while all wet still, ended up rushing through these.
