Last I heard the event guy around here (Steve Feral) wasn't going to run anymore minis events because attendance had become unreliable at best. Sometimes we might have 25 people, one time we had 4 show up(for the sealed qualifier last fall.) The store where we ran the events can't even cooridinate getting our D&D minis games DCI sanctioned because of previous lapses in the MTG game. Until I get moved back closer to town (which is coming up at the end of April) I think KC is pretty much out of the picture for any organized play. I do intend on bringing the city back into the fold once things settle down, but I don't think we will have anything organized before the WotDQ release. Might even be as far out as the sealed qualifiers in the fall if Organized Play gives our area a lot of grief about getting sanctioned. Store owners who only care about GW games really put a twist on running anything else.

yeah I called Steve, he seemed shocked that he didnt get one, but with the turn out at KC last year and then what you say im not surprised. There seems to be alot of stores losing them, more so than what is being shifted to Canada, so there is a good shot at some new locals/stores getting those. | | Im out- find me on Hordelings if you want to chat.

OK, Keep us posted... If he doesn't have one, ask him if he was contacted by WotC, or if he knows/understands why he doesn't...

| | My friend Jim spoke to the owner of Games and Comics and Stuff in Glen Burnie, Maryland and supposedly we will be getting a Qualifier. We have good turnouts at pre-releases and with the success of Winter Fantasy, maybe they decided to reward us Marylanders. | Pasttimes in Nile Illinois is the Illinois store that always seems to get qualifiers (even though they host no DDM events except qualifiers and pre/release ones)
I assume they will again.

Care to give them a call to confirm? Other locations which have held Qualifiers are out of luck this year...

It would be nice if it were being held at a store that actually runs D&D Minis tournaments (other than prereleases), but at least there is actually one in Texas - and that is WAY better than having the Texas qualifer in Kansas like last year.
Any idea when?
Tentatively, June 3.
The owner, Mark Hay, is out of town this week but will post a hard date on his return. I'd say come Tuesday next you should see the event posted here...http://www.thecomicasylum.com
There is D&D Minis every Thursday night there. However most of the mini's regulars around here are married with children so most of the Thurs night events are very small. Rarely is there more than 3 or four. I'd like to run more events there on the weekends - I'll keep you posted if I succeed. | | Champion of the ??? I was at my FLGS on Saturday, but the owner wasn't there (I heard he was sick...). Ask LOTS of questions, and see if you can't pin down your own store, or get a sneak peak at the list and tell us who else you see on there!

Damn.... not much time to practice, that's memorial day weekend, that might boost attendance, though the Canadian's won't be too pleased.

Yep. Ed at GCS told us at the War Drums release he has a qualifier. He had not set the date however. I believe he is trying to coordinate it so as to avoid dates with other qualifiers that would be considered "close by". I'm just hoping it is before I move to NE.

Well, they gots to pay for DB somehow. [}:)]

J/K. I seem to recall Ian saying they weren't going to reduce it from last year, so perhaps something was lost in the translation when they posted the prizes.

The info we have is purely from people who have been in touch with stores that did, or are having Qualifiers... We simply haven't had any of our members from CA post about events.

I had heard that it was 10 days ago (or so).
Ian said in another thread that we'd find out on April 1st, but being that that is a Saturday, I'm not so certain... He's quoted in the April issue of (Dragon?) that the dates are on the website, so I suspect we will learn either this Thursday, or the next.
