| I pulled a rather exceptional case of WD, no need to detail that... but I got a promo combat medic instead of an uncommon one - AND a standard uncommon one, so I know at least one of them is not regular. Exact same mini, but it has a D&DC36 base instead of the WD uncommon one.
Other than that, I apologise for joining the rants over WD on the boards: this set is good, really. A few ugly ones (frost dwarf...), that's for sure, but the overall selection is rather great. I would have loved to see some heart-warming stuff previewed, like the ogre war hulk for instance, instead of some cr*p we got. I think that Shoe's previews articles were great (lots of details, RPG- and skirmish-wise), but his selection was not optimal - at least with a view to hyping the set. Well, in MY book anyway.
Great set. Bought one case, can't wait to buy a second one (tomorrow hopefully !)

| The Combat Medic, labled D&DC36, was the repainted promo handed out at the Wardrums Release tournament this past weekend. Not sure why the number jumped from D&DC31 (Trog Captain from March 06 RPGA kit) to D&DC36 though.
There have also been reports of people pulling the Mina, Dark Cleric promo, DVD1, out of a regular booster box when Anglefire came out. She was never released as a promo if I recall. | | **overlong signature deleted. Please see posting guidelines**

The Mina Promo was released on several occasions. It was supposed to be part of the book tour for Amber and Ashes, but the author became very sick and had to cancel it. It was available from several sources: dragonlance.com, several conventions, my FLGS, etc.
I thought the DVD1 figure was Mailee.

| My son and I couldn't play in the release tournament, but we were able to make a little time to stop in and watch a little. The fine folks at TJ's (Massachusetts) gave both of us one of the Combat Medic Promos. It is in fact blue.

| Yes the promo combat medic is blue (looks really nice btw) so if its blue you got lucky and enjoy. If your combat medic is red then you just got the promo base with the regular mini.
It happens from time to time almost every set someone finds a promo base on a regular mini. Sometimes in advance of the promo's release so we get to know what a future promo is going to be.

Al - would you rather have all the "good" pieces promoted and have almost nothing to look forward to on release day / when you crack your case? I was very jazzed by the Ogre War Hulk.. he looked cool and was very nifty in practice. and was a pleasant surprise. | | Minis... | | Its nice to have a few peices that you didnt know were in the set. The Ogre War Hulk is a good example, as was the Wyvern in Aberrations, in my opinion. I think we get a good look at a lot of figures and know if a set is really good or not early enough, buts nice if there's still a few peices that wow you when you see the poster, open the booster up, etc that you didnt know were there. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka

| Guys, my "promo" Combat Medic is a genuine Combat Medic ("almost" red robe) on a promo base, not an actual promo.
I assume it is therefore much more difficult to find and worth a chase rare and I welcome people to send me their offers (nothing below an Umber Hulk, please).
Just kidding, but feel free ;-)
Anyway...

Having the repaint galary updated would help a lot for me decided what I want and need to track down. Some of the pictures havent worked for awhile now.. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka

| | I would much rather have Shoe preview a lot of the less exciting minis. They are still do the job of generating excitement over an upcoming set(for me anyways). I think there would be a very negative response from the forums if after Shoe's previews were done we got the set list there were no cool minis we hadn't seen yet, only orcs an man-at-arms types left. | | Champion of Aspect of Juiblex (with Oozemaster) and Aspect of Skurmsh! | |

| Guys, sorry to unearth a dead post, but I have some pics of the aberrant mini I found in my quarterly dose of minis... Problem is, I don't know where to host them... if anyone can help, please send me an email and I'll send the pics over.
That guy is up for trade, by the way... see my trade thread if interested.

I'll hazard this guess: They usually do about 5-6 repaints (D&DC repaints) per set. They decided on the order of the repaints early on. Later, after the bases were already made, they decided to release the Combat Medic as the first repaint instead of one of the others they made for War Drums. The next several repaints should fill the gap between the Trog Captain and the Combat Medic. | | "Look to God and live."
