| You know I have thought about this for some time. I wonder if there is a way to change the color of the stars to reflect the number of "completed positive trades". I have no knowledge of programming so it might be to difficult. But I know there are tons of folk that don't post but trade out the wazzu.
This would give a quick id of people that are good traders and still the custom title would give folk a reason to still hang out and contribute to the community....

Heh, yeah I'm also curious as to why you're in such a hurry to get to 100 trades. I've noticed you don't really need any miniatures. And 100 trades isn't going to make you any more accepted than you already are.

I'm not even close, but then I'm not going for 3 complete sets or anything like that. Matter of fact, I've got tons of commons and uncommons for trade if anyone wants them... [:p]
On a serious note. We do have it set right now so someone can see how many trades you've completed, so I'm sure if someone was curious they could go and look at your trades.

| I understand that a person if so inclined could check a member's creditials on the trade interface. I know whne I want to make a trade I check the "Disputed trade Thread". I know these tools are here. I was just thinking of a "cool" factor that would reflect the work that a person has put into building a soild trade rep.
They way that I am looking at it is there are really two sides to the site. There is the posting side and the trading side. The posting side is where we have all the discussions about the CRD and the spoliers. This is a large sense of the feeling of community and "knowing people" that we might actually meet at a Gen Con or WF or even the little local event. [:D]
The avatars and titles distinguish this sense of community and "belonging" Granted it is almost a club state of mind. I mean remember the excitement and the joyss of reaching small mile stones dealing with post counts? I remember thinking that it would take me forever to reach the 1000 post mark. The 1k post mark is something that helps distinguish you from others in the "post to much club" as we all call it. [)]
The other side of this great site is the trading. The main thing the site has to offer is trades. I came to this site because I wanted to get rid of the stuff that I knew I was going to get in each set. What better way to exhibit the adage, "one man's trash is another's treasure." than here at a great trading site. [:D]
Yet, there is really no way of honoring the hard work and effort that it takes to make a good trade. I think making a good trade should be recognized at least as much as psoting. When I make a trade I put a little bit of work into it. The commnications, the e-mails, the packing, making sure that each trade is correct (cards with the right mini, right minis going to the right person) and then going to the post office. This is all more involved than posting.
Maybe this is just me.....but I have thought about, a couple of times...[:D] | |

| Giffrat, that is an excellent point. Maybe there could be a second row of stars under the one for postings. This row of stars could be for trade count. Maybe something like a star for each 25 trades. They could change colors once you hit 100 trades, and then again once you hit 200, and so on. This would help set a part the members with the huge trade lists from us with the smaller lists (put still growing).
So from a programming side, is this even possible? | |

That would be a question for the "Mighty" and "Thoth". As I said before I have no knowledge of these matters.
But I would think that with the automated trade system that it wouldn't be that hard. But this may be like asking some monkeys to write a new hit for 50 cent.....or something like that. [:D] | |

Wasn't there at one point a talk about a feedback type icon for trades? That way those with disputes would also be easily recognized. The thread got lost in the limbo we had but I even recall DarkFather coming up with a good system for it. | |

| DF’s idea was in response to how to rapidly id a bad trader/disputed trader if IIRC.
I was thinking along the lines of a color linked to the stars that would ID someone for the work and effort in making good trades.
I sent Jai an e-mail about this thread and asked for technical guidance if this is something that is possible. I know I have looked at traders in the past and seen they haven’t posted very much. But then I would go to the trade reference and they would have like fifty trades or something crazy. And this was back before the new trade interface was in place. Meaning, at least to me, these traders were highly active in trades but not active in the posting and other reindeer games of the site. [:D]
This may be a bigger can of worms than we really want. But it is something that I think might be worth looking into. As it has been pointed out by Dr. Science this is fun!!!

As to my goals, I love trading, especially the negociation process.Milestones make it even more fun...
And yes, as I have said before, I was one of the original lovers of the WTF before the mention of them being in MM4 and a reference to our community in it. I doubt Runelord would just give away a great painting effort just like that...
P.S: If a trade milestone tracker, stars or colors are used, I would make the first 3 requirements 5, 10 and 15 since many of us wait until one of those guarantees before we agree to ship simulatenously with that person. | |

| lol well I'm all up for some kind of recognition for it, but I know I wouldnt reach many of the milestones quick. I wouldnt trade away figures to get other figures I dont exactly need and pay all the shipping each time, just to get another star. But some people would, and others just naturally have reached those milestones by trying to trade off the rares they dont want for ones they need.
So some kind of recognition wouldnt be bad, especially for new people who want to trade. It would be easily identifiable. | |

But in regards to actual mini trading: I prefer to do fewer deals for more figures. Why pay $3 X 20 trades for shipping in 20 trades when you can pay $5 X 3 for 3 large trades? Why go to the post office 10 times when you can go once or twice?

Point is that if someone wants to make a ton of good trades then more power to them. I am not going to say that it is wrong. I have a wife, a boss, and a graduate advisor to tell me what I have done wrong lately so I am not going to start in on someone else.[:D][)]
I would think that if the icon for the milestone was set at a high level or at a stratification similar to what the titles are then it would work itself out over time. Granted, you will have the outlier, which in this case is a person that trades to trade. But I would think this is the exception to the rule. Like I said I have been wrong before and this won't be the last...[)]
True_blue, I like the idea of a "specific" icon for the number of trades. If Jai says that this is something that is that can be done and the challenge is going to be undertook. I feel this would be something that could be very cool. Perhaps something like the beholder icon for the maxminis in the favorites.
Going with that theme I am sure there are tons of recoginizable monsters from the MM that could be used. Thinking about the same size of the icon it would have to be small but yet something like the beholder's head. Perhaps the same size as like a smiley. I don't know but something like a skull head for the first 10 trades. Then something like an medusa head for the 20th trade (a green face with snakes like the beholder). 30th trade a mind flayer (an upside down medusa that is like blue) 40th trade could be a mummy's head (all bandages and two red eyes), 50th trade could start the order of dragons and each ten after 50 the dragon would change color. So, like fifty would be a black dragon, 60 green, 70 blue, 80 white (just the outline), 90 red and then 100+ would be a gold dragon. Cause at that point you would be "golden" since that number of trades is a milestone.
But like I have said I don't know if this is even do-able. I am just setting in a chair and drinking diet coke and thinking about cool stuff...[:D] | |

I like the idea of monster icons. griffrat made some excellent suggestions for the icons we could use. We would just have to come up with some reasonable milestones and an appropriate icon for each.

| We are all in this one together. Through all the ideas we all throw out there the site gets better.
I mean I have thought about something like this but it wasn't until sulco and sir bozak said things in two totally unrelated threads that I thought of the little icons and stuff.
This sharing of ideas and polite banter, IMHO, is what makes this place great. I mean really great. Since, we all have a voice and we all have a vested interest in being nice to one another. As being rude alienates you from potential trades. In a very ironic sense it is the golden rule in action.
