| JUst wanted to see how many people would be interested in a sperad sheet that would figure out trade value for you.
Thinking about doing one but not real motivated. If other people wanted it there would be more motivation for me to do it.
Basically just a spreadsheet with all the mini's and Z's prices for them. Column for outgoing and incoming, simply plug in the numbers for both sides of the trade and it would give you a total and in whose favor.
If this is something that would interest you post and if enough people are interested to motivate me i can whip one up without too much trouble. Add it to my pricelist/checklist and also make it a stand alone as well.

| So would this be linked to the numbers that Z uses in the far left column?
If for instance a D-beast is number XXX and it is in the trade and I am trading a LSD (number qqq), CRD (number www), and a million kua-toa Kua-toa number aaa). I would then enter in the numbers for my figs and a value would then be spat out?
XXX for qqq+www+aaa*1,000,000 = value +/-
It sounds really interesting... if I am making anysense at all...[:D] | | Ambassador of FUN!!!

Will it be a live update that is downloaded or a webpage or a link that is updated every once in a while? | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. | For fairness, I think it is a bad idea, and it would probably negatively affect the amount of trading I do here.
I dislike Zenako's prices (though I respect the time and effort he puts into maintaining them). The whole fact that he bases his prices of what people are asking...not what is actually being sold...is indicitive of the flawed nature of collectible pricing.
I have about thirty trades, all positive. Many times I have recieved less then the Zenako value, sometimes more. I don't worry about it. The second and third and fourth Chimera I pull is worthy a rare, because I don't want more of them. I've actually had people turn down offers because they felt I was being too generous and didn't want the stigmata of being a trader who "rips people off"
I got my Drizzt from a kid at a local comic shop for some heroclix-about ten-fifteen dollars worth. Of course, I paid thirty dollars for an Umber Hulk but I value it at an incalculable amount because it's my favorite fig. Too much emphasis on "price guides" removes the hobby aspect and makes this too much of a business.
Just some thoughts. | | | |

There are many here that share that sentiment. I also don't trade much anymore, but this isn't the entire reason. Often the folks that don't see your POV have commented that we are among those trying to trade crap rares for good ones. Trying to dissuade the use of this tool has thus far been a waste of breath. Just an FYI.

| | Well it wont really affect me one way or another, I dont use Zenako's price guide either, so I wouldnt use it. I use a combination of Auggie's BIN shop and ebay. But for people who actually use Zenako's guide religiously, I'm sure it would speed things up really easily. Remembered it'd need to be updated every month, but that shouldnt be too hard. | | Anyone who wants to do that can do so pretty darn readily already by just pasting the data from the post into excel. If that is too much for someone, then they should not be worrying about doing deals to that level of detail either. I mean I don't even use it like that. When doing a trade I run up and down the list of the trade and assign rough values based on a) the guide price, b) how much I want the mini, and c) how easy it will be to trade the mini in the future. Thus I would discount something like the Dire Chicken a bit as well as Giant Frogs and Taers. Got bins of them. | | Built the addition for this addiction, now on to the "gaming table" project.... http://www.maxminis.com/hw_list.asp?user=Zenako last updated 29 May 2006 Set Status: in a nutshell = all of all In Process trades 0), (Sig last updated 05/29/06) 300 plus Completed Trades -

| OK, first off let me clarify one thing here. Most of the reason im thinking about doing this is because im anal. I just like to know as much as possible about everything. Personally it probably wont play a big role in my trades. I am more interested in finishing sets then the real value at the moment. Do I still figure out the value, sure, I don't want to trade $300 for $20, but am I going to worry about $130 for $90, probably not if its what I need to finish sets. I do know however, just from some of the trade proposals that I have gotten, a lot of people do use Z's prices, simply from the fact that they even include them in the trade proposals to show its an even trade in their thoughts. Some people may like a spreadsheet that figures this out for them. Its not going to be anything special, its just going to be a spreadsheet that gives the total. Nothing miraculous and most of its already set up with my price guide/checklist. As far as it helping to ruin the hobby and trading, I totally disagree with that statement. People who want to figure out Z's prices and go by his checklist religiously do it no matter what. Will it make it easier for some people, sure. For the people who said it would make them trade less here, why? If people want to use Z's guide to base there trades there going to anyway. They do it now, the only difference is that they will be able to reply a little bit quicker. Now as far as what it will do, its basically just going to be a spreadsheet that you enter what your trading and what your getting and at the top it will give you a total plus or minus in your favor or not. You also of course have the option to change the prices if its worth more or less to you and it will still figure out the prices. But a few people want it and it gives me something to do while im at work all night so I do plan on doing it. Ill post it when its done and I will update it monthly as well ;) | | Ha:19 of 80! | I use something similar currently.
I copy and paste a potential trade from the maxminis H/W list in 'compare' mode, into my Excel spreadsheet. Then I have a formula that looks up the values of each mini in the trade on Zenako's Guide.
It saves the minor effort of looking up values when I'm trading with someone who values minis this way. | | Have/Want List || Trade References

| | Hey if it helps even one person, go for it. I mean, as you already said, if ppl are using Z's guide religiously, they look it up now anyways. All it would do is save time. | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka | |

| Daunte, Vrecknidj,
Please go ahead with the project. It would help out a guy like me who trades a lot. And it would help to protect newer traders who aren't yet attuned to the relative value of their minis. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades.

| Yeah, none of the formula's were hard or anything and was able to pull most of the lists formatted out of the checklist/price guide. Most of the time spent on it was delete things from the list/guide that i didnt need in it, then throwing the 3 formula's together and that was pretty much it.
But it kept me busy at work while it was dead for about 15 minutes so that is a bonus. | | Ha:19 of 80! De:43 of 60! Ar:24 of 60! GoL:60 of 72! Ab:59 of 60! Dk:58 of 60! Af:60 of 60 Complete!
