Rav950's message got me thinking, and I didn't want to hijack so I've started this thread. It was stated there that gelatinous cubes could be a possibility for clear plastic minis, but I think you're missing out on some really good (and for wizards in the you don't have to paint them as much sense) opportunities.

What about clear or translucent plastic elementals? Fire, Water that sort of thing. Would be pretty cool IMO.

Or what about the Crystal Dragons? I mean, you can paint crystal, but it would look a heck of a lot more like and Amethyst Dragon if it was all see through and tinted a color, or even a translucent color.

What other minis would you like to see in clear plastic?

Would you use clear colored plastic to represent a will o' the wisp? I really want these but can't figure how to make a good mini for these.

Maybe clear plastic with sparkles in it?

I know that this conversation has taken place on several threads, and it always leads to the same conclusion, some people love the idea of clear minis and others hate the idea. I'm sure we will see some of those posts again.

I do hope for a clear G-Cube though.

There are a few cool minis that I'd like in clear plastic. GCube is on the top of my list also - but Water, Fire and Air Elementals also.

One of these days WoTC will update their tournament page when I'm in the top 5... they never seem to do when I'm in that bracket :(

Gelatinus Cube and....even more importanly...The Hellcat Devil are monsters that need to be clear.

Gem Dragons are not clear however. Their scales may glitter like jewels but you cannot see though one...They still have opaque bones, organs, muscles ect.
So for Gem dragons Id just like to see shiny paint like on the Drow Riding Lizard or the Shauagin repaint.

Water Elementals, Air Elementals and Ghosts would be sorta cool...But our old elementals and ghosts would seem silly that they werent clear.

What alot of us DONT wanna see is clear plasic becomming a gimmick.
-Clear flame in a wizard's hand.
-Clear swords representing magic weapons.
-Clear lightning...or clear rods of plastic representing ray spells shooting from wizards hands.
That junk would be LAME.
If done right it could look real cool (Emperor Palpatine from Rebel Storm set)..Or it could look real bad (Count Dooku's blue potholder mitten from Clone Strike)

That reminds me of antman in the heroclix line. Just a base. I think they did an invisible woman also like that, but I liked her clear/half painted version better.

It all depends on how well they do it. Take a look at the Mage Knight figures with clear plastic - some look great and some look like doo-doo.

I agree with the Count, spelleffects would look cheesy. I don't think we need figures with effects shooting out of there hands. Weapons on the other hand if done right could look good, a soulknife with a clear blueish soulknife could look good. The problem is 'could' and right now I don't think I want to risk how a gimmick weapon would look, i'm thinking of current painting problems.

However I'm onboard for a gcube or an invisible stalker.

I want to see a couple of human / elf / etc characters that are "clear" to represent INVISIBLE characters for our RPG games.

Especially if there were to put out some specific characters that were painted normally, and then had invisible versions of them as well.

So instead of an "Epic" character where it had two cards and one figure, it would be an "invisible" character where it had two figures and one card.

I think that this would be fun and something that they could add into Skirmish even. i.e. Invisible characters cannot be attacked until they break invisibility, etc... but could be attacked by characters with SEE / DETECT invisible.

I'm also for an invisible rogue or mage, incorporeals, and elementals. Clear spell effects tend to look cheesy (eg. SWM Palpatine).

Gelatinous Cube, Hellcat Devil, and Lantern Archon all beg for clear/tinted translucent plastic.

For Invisible Stalkers I've always liked the idea of just a base [:D]

That said, I certainly hope the designers don't go hog-wild with clear plastics. I'm with the Count: spell effects, magic weapons, etc. would be a terrible waste of time, energy, and talent. Dragon breath weapons if ever made should be detachable (like the CRD).

I will second Username on the idea of using clear plastic for an Entombed.

I'm not sure why some people are against clear plastic. I see it as an overall improvement to the minis line, which gives the artists and designers more flexibility.

Well most that i want are already told; My vote goes for Gelatinous Cube, Invisible Stalker, Entombed, and clear fire, ice and wind elementals.

The Cristal dragon is a nice idea but i would love more a Amethyst one. [:D]

Why's it yellow? Did the guy inside piss himself or something?

Doesn't hold a candle to Peter Lee's g-cube. He offered to sell me one but I couldn't afford it. Not that his price was unreasonable, given the quality of the piece and the work he puts in, rather my budget simply didn't allow it.

It is not that people are against the use of clear plastics, they just want it doen right.

I think that if we got a few clear plastic peices that looked great, all the negative talk would die out, and on the flip side, if wqe got a crappy looking spell effect in clear plastic all the negative tal kwould double.

I'd bet the G Cube will be our first clear plastic piece for DDM.

OK, let the rampant Shoe speculation begin: What Ice/Cold based figures would be in a Blood Wars themed set...

So this means we are either going to have some "tiny" rares or we are going to have non-rares with clear plastic. I can imagine which option most people would prefer. [P]

Heh, I feel silly talking about what Shoe said when he's reading the thread. But... at Winter Fantasy, the topic of small rares came up, and Shoe empathized with people opening a booster with a Dromite or a Champion of Yondalla in it and saying "where's the rare?" When asked if he could guarantee no small rares in further sets, he almost said yes, but then thought about it a while and then said that he could think of one more possibly coming up.

So, is there something small, and possibly clear that you would want as a rare?

Remember, just because clear plastic is being used, doesn't mean that the entire mini is going to be clear. They could easily just do the clear wings like the CRD.

Granted I don't think the Pseudodragon will have translucent plastic on it either.

No way the Pseudodragon is going to be translucent. Would make it look like a miniature gem dragon. Not that it would be a bad thing but it wouldn't look accurate. I'll agree with the Count in that with BW we'll see a Hellcat.

Wonder if we're getting minis of all sizes in WDQ that we'll see one of the elementals everyone is pining for? A water elemental done right would be very cool.

Geez, people, "on all sizes" doesn't guarantee a tiny, it could just mean "on all sizes that are in the set."

Sometimes the Talmudic scholar approach to Shoe posts gets a bit excessive. [)]
