Well, I have to say I was surprised to see this, echoed as it is throughout the thread.

#11, a gnoll. The legs seems backward-bending; that's fairly typical of gnolls.

#14, not a spell caster; it's charging forward and the right hand has a sword, not a staff?

| Thats what I find amazing. So many people have seen the pics and then go and tell people that they shouldnt be looking, etc. How many of the mods or other ppl who saw the pics would have honestly not chosen to look at the pics? I dare say very very little, and then they are yanked off and everyone is told that they shouldnt be looking for them or looking at them if they come across. It is very easy to say so when you have already seen the pics and know exactly what the peices look like.
Everyone else i sjust as eager, but now they must wait and see the pics one day at a time. Which wouldnt be so bad, but then you have others coming on here and then practically throwing it in their faces that they already know. It really is quite frustrating to ppl who didnt get the chance to see the pictures. And then to have the ppl who did see it tell them they shouldnt try to be looking is kind of a double standard, etc.
Now its fine if Lidda, Shoe, Ian, etc come on here and like to tease the maxminis folks. But is it right that fellow fans are privvy to knowledge that the community as a whole doesnt? I think this is very messed up and very counter-productive. The great thing about the community was that basically everyone was on equal footing. Everyone knew at the same time about certain figures, etc. But now it has become lopsided. Some ppl have seen a lot of pictures, others have seen the 16 released, others are hinting they know stats, etc. Kind of imbalanced, but hey I guess thats life right? Well maybe, but then that causes frustration and annoyance. And a lot of the people who are the ones who say "Live with it, you dont need to know everything" are the ones who already do, or know more. Very easy to do so in this case.
Showing the pics 1 at a time was a clever and interesting way of doing it. But personally making ppl wait over 3 weeks to actually see every single picture is kind of messed up. Especially since the ppl who have already seen basically keep mentioning it. If I didnt think I'd get in trouble for doing so, I'd definately put up a link to all the pictures just so most ppl were back to "equal footing" as I call it. But then I know the ppl who have seen all the pictures would complain and moan how Wizards doesnt want everyone to see them. So I guess I'll just hang out and watch the speculation.. =/ | |

This is what I think (I understand many people disagree with me):
It's nice to have a good relationship with the seller.
But it's their job to keep us happy, not the other way round.
We pay them money, not the other way round.
We as conusmers and hobbiests should look out for eachother first.
Maxminis and similar sites were created to share the gossip and hot leaks as they occurred. Pics of minis have always been linked and posted before WOTC has released previews of them (eg. pics of origins displays, pics of upcoming posters, etc).
The material (ie. pics) is no different this time, just the source (an anonymous poster).
I understand that maxminis probably had to get rid of them due to potential legal trouble, but for everyone to be silent about what they saw because WOTC wants them to is just silly.
I WANT to know what the pics contained. Some of my fellow gamers KNOW what they contained. So why not tell me and everyone else who wants to know?
I understand some people don't want to know (that's there business).
What I don't understand, is that some fellow gamers DON'T want me to know. Huh? Why are we fighting eachother?

| I would say it just comes down to a person's character. I'm betting that if I wanted to see the pics that a good amount of people saw I could. I know people that did see them and was even teased a little about them by others. Part of me does want to see them and part of me doesn't. Since I know they weren't legal images and having pleas from people at WotC that I respect as well as the mods here I am keeping honest and won't go seeking the pictures. Still I know that I'd much rather know the game stats than just have some blurry pictures of minis that I have no clue what will do for me playwise anyway. Ooooh it's a Gem Dragon that does.... uh... Dragon Gemmy stuff. Sure I like to look at cool minis but all it does is give me a picture without anything else.

| I actually did make a page with all the leaked images, but decided against revealing it to the public after lurkinglidda's plea. I then removed it from my web server to avoid any chances of people accidentally stumbling across it.
I really fail to understand the preorder drama. I didn't get to see the pics until three days after they were first posted, and, quite frankly, I didn't expect to see them. Seeing them didn't change my mind at all about the WDQ purchase, despite the fact that several minis I was really hoping for apparently aren't in the set.
It's all about trust. If WotC people hadn't come here and made honest statements about their fears and their disappointment, I likely would have made my page public. However, after they did, it would have been... a REALLY impolite thing to do.
It's just like it was during the development of Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound (RIP). I was "in the know," yet I was very careful about what I posted about the game. I didn't want to betray the devs' trust, because I knew how much they cared about the game.

| I've just put the minis in perspective somewhat by making all their bases the same thickness. Maybe this helps in identifying the figures. I have no idea how to insert a picture here, but it would seem that the minis belong to the following categories:
huge: 1, 8, 10, 11, 13 and 16
large: 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14 and 15
medium: 4 and 6
Not entirely what I expected... I expected 2, 9 and 14 to be medium... but there you have it.
(Of course, this is assuming that the whole bases are shown in the silhouettes.) | |

It makes it hard to 'let the subject drop' as has been requested, when those who have seen the images continually reference the fact that they have seen all - and they're not sharing.

Nope. Compare the dimensions of the base and you'll see that only 6 of these are likely to be huge (see my post on the previous page) | |

| Gotta remember that the last preview said how WotDQ has a special emphasis on the yet-unreleased MMIV. Odds-on some of the ones we poor spoiler-deprived souls can't guess (like #4, for instance) are out of that book...
Anyway...
#1: who cares? ;) It's a huge dragon that'll do nicely as a bad guy. (Can you tell I'm an RPGer and don't skirmish?)
#2: There's something a little bugbearish about the posture and ears, but the feet don't jibe with that. Really don't know.
#3: could be a greater basilisk, but the pose looks a litte wrong.
#4: If it had two arms I'd say a bhut for sure, but as it is I'll go for some sort of plant critter
#5: Not an owl, the wing profiles are wrong.
#11 has to be some sort of hairy monstrous humanoid with digitigrade feet - those aren't boots he's wearing, and the line of the thigh is a big giveaway. Normal humanoids (and eldritch giants, for that matter, have knees
#12: I reckon whoever it was who guessed the amethyst dragon is spot-on. It's the wings.
#15 is a slaughterstone eviscerator, sure as eggs.
#16 has a mounted Frost Giant (woohoo!) Even regular elephants are Huge, and scale-wise that makes the rider far too big to be an orc or anything else Medium. And I should say, I picked this, back in the 'Huge Ones Speculation' thread! | |

| I like this way of revealing the upcoming miniatures. It adds a bit of mystery and also encourages almost endless speculation.

Yeah number #15 is definately that Slaughterstone Eviserator with the off-chance of being the Lord of Blades.
I don't know why but it feels like there should be an Umber Hulk in there somewhere, though I know that's not the case.
So do we get mini #2 today then? That's one of the ones I'm most looking forward to knowing what it is. Let's at least hone our speculation down a bit to this one.
