As the Champion of all Gem Dragons I must speak up and say this is what it looks like to me as well! Slight chance of it being a Sapphire Dragon as well but the hooks along the lower parts of the 'wings' would most likely rule it out.
Cornugon would be cool as well, but it just doesn't look like it IMO.

| So, looking at the Retriever's RPG stats and I've got to say it's oddly close to that Eviscerator thing in some ways ... and from what I can tell of the MM4 pic they could proxy for RPG.
Here are the pertinent stats.
Retriever - huge construct AC 21, HP 135 4 Attacks +15(15) Special: eye ray (fire, electricity, cold dealing 42 points of damage, petrification ray)
Big difference is that the eviscerator is large and the retriever is huge. If we're getting a retriever it'd be in this set or we'd be waiting another year or so right? Or has Wizards told us when the next huge set would come (is there one in the works)? | | Triangle DDM Skirmish Group | My Email | 45-ish trades and counting | Stuff for Trade * * * Show your brother some love and click here * * * | |

Hmmm... ya know, your right. This is the first time I've felt this, but looking at all the rampant speculation (I haven't seen teh pic's...), the majority of these critters are never going to show up in my RPG game. I'm still angling for 4 total cases, but this might be the last set for which I do that. I may start throttling back to what I need for skirmish, and grabbing extra off Ebay as needed for the RPG.

Yep. I only RPG, so I have only bought singles from all the sets. But even so, my purchasing has been tailing off with Underdark and War Drums; and not because there is anything particularly wrong with those sets - they just contain so many obscure creatures.
I can see the reasoning - bring in creatures from Monster Manuals II, III and IV and make use of templates to support the D&D range and to drag out the release of the main MM I beasties. It keeps our interest in the DDM line going.
However, a creature can be in a 'mainstream' D&D text (like MM IV) and still be fairly useless for RPG. If you are running a 'mainstream' adventure (e.g. RttToEE), virtually every creature is from Monster Manual I, and the players will probably be choosing races and classes from the Player's Handbook. So if you have everything from Harbinger, say, you are hardly any better off for having the War Drums set as well. | Guys guys guys, we're all wrong, and I think I finally figured it out.
Other than the Dragon these are 15 images of a new race that will be outlined in MMIV.
Fiendish Chromatids
Clear Chromatic Elementals from the Rainbow Plane, these beings are seen as nothing more than shapes of colored light. They tend to travel in packs harboring one being from each color in the spectrum. They come to the material plane in the form of rainbows and the color spectrums found when light passes through crystal.
These creatures are not agressive, nor do they fight when attacked and as such they have no stats. But gee they sure are purty to look at huh?

And WotC has taken their shots from different angles than most of the purloined shots were taken from, making it even harder to match up or fully guess what some of those critters might be. As the count mentions, many of them were still WTF's after viewing, so any and all guesses could be right.
I will be watching to see if they have any pattern to their unveiling of each new mini. Will it be based on how good the community has narrowed it down on this and other boards? Leaving the real unknowns until last?
