| Aside from it being a new creature, I don't understand the hatred for the Bluespawn Godslayer. Personally, I think it's pretty fierce looking, and I don't really see the Barney likeness. Y'all do understand that he's got the typical blue dragon "rhino horn," but it's tough to make out because it's foreshortened in the pic, right?
(On the other hand, I'm not really sure what the point of having a double-sword is -- arguments that it's a goofy weapon aside -- if you're going to be using a shield ... ) | | Jeff "Wayne Laredo" Wilder | Email | Have/Want List | Trade Policies | Are You an Ethical Trader?

| Really, I think all the dislike is based on the fact it's using up a precious huge slot. This is only our second selection of 12 huge minis, and we're overly protective of those. The vast majority of us want to see classic monsters, not new ones.
I'm not be the bleuspawn's stanuchest supporter (even if it is a dragon), but I will certainly keep any I receive in my cases, and possibly trade for a few extra. | | Trade & talk in real time on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis SOFTWARE: PC | PC (free) | MAC

| | I think it would look infinitely cooler with clear plastic saliva dripping from it's jaws. I fear it may suffer from goofy grin as well. I can't see enough of it to judge, but I think it'll be cooler than we give it credit. It can be painted red from some nasty looking hellspawn as well. | | | |

I really think this is a production paint job. Notice that there isn't a whole lot of colors and the scales on his back appear washed in grey (not standard for master paints).

That's what I was going to say! It's not that the mini is such a bad sculpt as much as it's a huge slot. | Well, just like any other set, we're going to get some "stinker" Huges. We've had stinker Commons, Uncommons and Rares (for one reason or another). If WotC put out all four Elementals, all 10 Dragons, and the Huge Giants right away, there wouldn't be a reason for us to keep buying their crack--er, minis.
You win a few, you lose a few--but hopefully you win more than you lose!
Of course, at this point, I'd consider the Celestial Trike a "win". [:o)] | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

Good point. The Behir ended up looking a whole lot better 'in the flesh' than it did in the picture. I think everyone's point on this is that there are only 12 huge slots and they have only rolled around once a year or so. A crap huge (especially a rare one) lasts forever, while a new set (every few months) gives 24 rares so that the good outshines the bad in a quick way. You can say, "Ok, we got x,y,and z so it isn't a big deal we got z's ugly little brother with a mole," with a regular set. This way, I'll look at Ol' Blueface there for a year before getting any huge relief. Grrr. | | I am a leaf on the wind...Urrk!!--Wash, "Serenity"

| Oh, I understand the complaints. I really do. I'm just trying to balance out the desires of the community with the reality of the business world.
Sometimes I do a better job of that than others.
Personally, I'm not exactly in love with my Nightwalkers, Fiendish T-Rexes or the Warforged Titan, but I understand that A) Those fit very well into SOME campaigns; B) The "stinkers" are as important as the proven hits and; C) Sometimes you gotta take chances on unproven concepts/figures.
It's a side-effect of the business model, an attempt to continue interest in the game, and an attempt to build the game. In order for us to keep gettin Huge sets, there must be more Huge monsters (and especially more DESIRABLE Huge monsters) for us to go nuts over. It's just the way the world works--for good or ill.
As for my uses for Blue Barney--I'll keep a couple and the rest will go to "trade stock". Who knows? In thirty years he might be worth something!
