| | I want a huge set every 5 sets, with distribution similar to this set except 9 packs in a case. That way, it's exactly 1/2 of the rares from the set in a case like a normal set, and we can be guaranteed a full set of commons and uncommons, also like a normal set. This should make pricing for a case very similar to normal. This should aleviate people complaining about price differentials. | | Completed trades: Gausse, Mazra, Pagansexy, Galerians, Lord_Raven, Drakkengi, Temujinn x2, Random Sasquatch, elf_ranger, Azuretide, Hung4treason, Griffrat (face2face), Nasamonkey Carpe Forum! | |

| I don't think one set in three is too much to ask for.[:D]
And I think they could probably increase the Icon production also - perhaps produce 1 for every set of minis they produce. [:p]

| I think every four sets is good. More often than that, and I won't be able to afford it. Less often, and it becomes too long in between and we'll "never" get the Huge Elementals and Dragons taken care of.
Only once every four years would there be a year with no Huges, and that won't be so bad. | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

| Every three sets - definitely more often than at present.
I like Dariustad's idea too.
My big problem with the current arrangement is that the slots don't come around very often and it is becoming increasingly clear that a fair few of them will be filled by things that will see very little use. So from my (RPG) perspective, that might mean only 7 or 8 useful huges every two years! That's not nearly enough for me. | | Champion of the Bodak.Knight of the Aboleth.Squire of Gnomes. | Every 3-4 sets and preferably 3. I don't think the volume that they are selling now is sustainable beyond the next 3 years (and likely less if the Core:Niche ratio continues to slide) and the number of huges I still want is more than a set's worth.
3 years is another 9 sets or twice the current number of sets (another ~540 models).
And if WotC tries to drag it out by delaying marquee pieces, it is just more likely that the line gets shelved for a few years (to let the market recover) before we see them.
I'm not saying the skirmish market is doomed to failure, but the sustaining force of the RPG sector is not a sure thing. At some point enough is nearly enough, and metal and custom sculpting/proxies will become just as satisfying.
DK, AF, UD, and War Drums nailed a huge section of the remaining must haves. So far while there are a few marquee figures in WotDQ it is starting to be diminishing returns for the RPG buyer with limited funds (~$200 per set). My current concern isn't spending X0.00 more dollars on a huge set occasionally but on spending X000.00 more dollars on painted toys over the life of the RPG game. If I have 5 bookshelves full of figures now, I don't need 15 six years from now, or even 10 shelves 3 years from now. | | Called Shot: Against the Giants -- Aboleth Called Shot: Demonweb - Large Whip Spider Another Champion of the Aboleth

| quote: With Huges being more rarely used in RPG and being restricted to Epic play in Skirmish, I'm happy with the current scheme that they have been going with.
But what is there scheme... Originally we had:
Starter (100 pt) Blended set (100/200 pt) Standard set (200pt) Extreme Set (Huge)
Then we got: Starter (100/200 pt) Standard Set (200 pt) Standard Set (200 pt) Expanded Set (200 pt with Epic cards)
Now: Starter (200 pt) Extreme Set Blood War (200 pt with Epic cards)
I don't see much of a pattern.
Frankly, I like the idea of Starter, standard, Huge, Standard. Rinse Repeat. That breaks things up nicely.

| tough question.
the huge minis are great for kids and others who like the really cool minis. However, they are not cheap. I think some kind of mini-huge set (as suggested above) would make sense every year. Throw the barmaids and other wierd minis in there (tables, chairs, mimics, commoners) with a huge (maybe 2-4 other minis) and charge $12.99. This would be quite popular with many RPG folks, I think.
Since that is unlikely, I'd go with once every 4 or 5 sets. 2 years is too far apart, but every year is too expensive for me, I think. | | Fastest dropping DCI ranking on record! Champion of Juiblex

| | Never unless they are gonna start making 2 SKU's. One huge and one normal. I think for the most part huges are for roleplayers. Maybe these ones will be priced right but I doubt it. I'm done mostly anyways besides maybe picking up the Eberron stuff and maybe some of the good faction stuff. Which from the numbers isn't looking really big for this set. | | Champion of Jarlaxle Sets: Star Wars Year one complete,44/60 Champions of the Force,0/60 Bounty Hunters | |

Very true.
However, the laws of supply and demand come into play here. As the quantity of older minis relative to the number of current players drops, the price for those older minis will increase. As the price increases, more of us who have been collecting since the beginning will begin to "thin" our collections.
This is a dynamic system, and we are not meant to hoard Clerics of Order, Tielfling Captains, or even Displacer Beasts indefinitely. Some of us will undoubtedly do so. But most of us will probably begin thinning the collection when the price to keep it becomes higher than the cost of obtaining more minis (including storage issues). | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

| | As stated earlier in this thread there will be a limit to what RPG players want. I think it would be great if they slowed down production to 2 sets a year with 1 being a huge. They have covered most of the core monsters at this point. I have purchased and completed every set and buying less as each set comes out filling in the rest through singles. After WotDQ (already pre-ordered my cases) I will only buy the minis I want and will stop completing sets. There are to many other "Disposable Income" purchases which I have been putting off to feed my DDM addiction. | | Champion of the Rust Monster Proud Member of Team Amish | |

| Every 2 years - if they cut out crap like the Dinosaur or mounted huge whatevers.
Every 4 sets if they insist on including crap suboptimal minis.
The separate set would be the best option, but then they would have to abandon the stupid "limited SKU" argument for randomization (if it sells, retailers will MAKE THE ROOM) so I don't see that happening...

| | 1 in 4 sets would be nice. In addition/alternatively I wouldn't mind having some of the "D&D Icons" series be much needed huges (such as additional huge chromatic dragons, huge gem dragons, a Nalfeshnee if it doesn't make the cut for WotDQ, other huge elementals, etc.) If the Icons line is strictly gargantuan and up, its RPG usefulness will remain limited. | | Champion of the Bone Naga (There's just so much roleplaying to be done with a large skeletal snake!) | |

| Every year would be better. As WotC insists to give us oddballs like the Blue Barneyspawn and Mounted-Minis-we-will-never-use-in-RPG we need more Huge sets. The chance is higher to get what we REALLY want then
