| I thought I'd kick my random number generator a bit and figure out what some theoretical pulls of WotDQ would look like when purchased by the case... I assumed that the huge rares would be paired in a case like the GoL Huge Rares were (my hunch - if the Spectral Wombat is a huge rare in a case, it will always be paired with the Golden Snitch huge rare in a case), and I assumed no repetition of normal rares or uncommons in a case (per Shoe's earlier comments)...
Putting aside the details in favor of more useful summary info:
* After 3 cases, you're likely to have ~12 or 13 of the 18 (normal) rares in the set. You're likely to only have 1 rare in triplet.
* By buying 4 cases, you're likely to get ~15 of the 18 rares in the set.
* You'll likely get a complete set of huge rares in 5 cases or less, although ~1/3 of the people will find that 5 cases will not get them all of them. If the huge rares are not paired in a case, but are randomly distributed, this number skyrockets to needing about 10 cases to get a complete set (although there is a huge variation in the number of cases it took in my sample ... between 4 cases and 22 cases). If WotC thought about this at all, I think they'd pair the huge rares to keep the masses happy. If the rares are paired, buying by the case will drastically effect how long it will take to complete your huge rare collection without trading.
* It will likely take you 3 cases to get a set of normal uncommons, although it will not be unusual to take 2 or 4 cases to get the complete set. It will be rare for it to take 5 or more cases.
* If you try to collect a complete set without trading, it will likely take between 7 and 13 cases (median ~10, average ~11) to get all the normal rares.
* Common, uncommon, huge uncommon and huge rare sets are likely to be completed well before a rare set is complete via single booster purchases.
* If you buy 4 cases, you'll likely need to trade for 2 huge rares and ~ 3 to 4 normal rares to complete the set.
Edit: Personally, I am buying 3 cases, plus 4 boosters on prerelease weekend and 4 boosters to use up a gift cards. Then, I'll trade/buy the remaining figures I want or need (although a complete set is not something I care about). | |

| Maybe just one case this round for me. I love the Purple Worm, Fire elemental (they are uncommon)and the Dracolich so far but the rest are just ok. Too early too tell but nothing has hit me like the Red Dragon and all the giants from GOL.

| I probably won't be buying any cases at all at this rate. What I'm more likely to do is order a Booster just for fun, then buy Singles. The reason:
I only play CG (main) and LG (secondary). CE/LE have no value to me except for trading to Zozo or other people. And since this set is shaping up to be Evil-weighted, I'll simply buy Singles to get what I want.
I like what CG/LG pieces I am seeing, but they're distinctly in the minority, so this saves money. | |

| I had 60 cases on order for my store, but also coming out of that is the figures that our group keeps as well. I more than likely will be bumping that to 80 cases given what I have seen, despite the haters on the boards, I think this set looks to have some awesome figures in it, and the huge fire elementals so far are pushing towards my favorite, but I'll have to wait till I start cracking them all open.
Official Release date is July 7th correct?

So far the dracolich and huge fire elemental are ones I really want. I could use a couple of huge spiders, though I could also get (and have gotten) plastic spiders from a toy store to fill that need. I'm still holding out hope for a couple more RPG useful huges, like a chromatic dragon (one without a rider, since the black with a rider is useless to me), a huge water elemental, nalfeshnee, aboleth or hydra. | |

Same here. I have 5 cases order but I'm thinking I won't need that many at all. Tiamat would've been better served as a member of the icons line instead of a huge...she could've been beautifully
gi-normous! Especially on an 8x8 base.
I do like the worm, the elemental and the dracolich. The dragon, without a rider would've had me excited. The spider is not my first choice, but useable in numbers. So unless they unveil something gripping, then I'll probably be reducing my purchase. Here's to a huge white or green dragon, huge water elemental, and a large uncommon frost giant!
BTW:
how come we aren't seeing any commons? Anyone else worried by this?
