Would a figure with sidestep that activates adjacent to an enemy figure within 6 squares of Shuluth draw and AOO if it flails the DC?

Per card. Sidestep “Sidestep (On its turn, if it moves only 1 square, this creature can make all its attacks and does not draw attacks of opportunity)”

Shuluth CE per card “Disorienting Presence (Each active enemy that activates within 6 squares must move at least 1 square at the start of its turn; DC 16).”

Part B who decides where the effected figure moves?

Subpart b: If said figure with sidestep after moving the 1 square still make an attack if a valid target is present.

Part C since sidestep does not specify ether ranged or melee would a ranged attack be allowed.

Opps did I do that

This is a skirmish topic.

Anyway, Shuluth only says that the creature must move. Other details can be decided by that creature's controller.

About sidestep, I'm not sure, but I can't see why it couldn't be used for ranged attacks.

I think you can move after failing the save, because sidestep is a one square move.

Yes, on a failed save the creature could use sidestep to move one square (chosen by the owner - not the Shuluth player) - satisfy the move requirement for Shuluths Commander Effect - and not take AOOs from any enemies basing it. Also, it could make its full attack (even ranged if allowed by circumstances). So, basically a figure with sidestep can avoid the biggest parts of the nastiness caused by Shuluths CFX, and they would usually only be inconvenienced a little bit by being forced to move one square.

Interesting. I'll have to find someone to playtest Shuluth v. Artemis. He's about the only guy with Sidestep that I'd be willing to play.

eh Artemis usually isnt the best peice to use in 200 pt. With things like the Helmed Horror and Marut running around, you'll have some hard times of trying to Backstab or Sneak Attack. Also 80 hp sucks ass for a mini that costs like 89 points. I dont think thats such a great tactic to try to get around Shuluth.

Might want to just try to use a bunch of peices with high saves, or a CE warband with a Wardrummer.

Yeah, I'm not talking so much about really making it work in the larger sense. I'm just sort of trivially interested in how effectively Sidestep would work for dealing with Shuluth's CFX.

Oh well, in that case, yea it'd work out pretty well I guess then. Even if you had to sidestep, you'd still be good to go without any AoO's. Hopefully we'll see more units with sidestep.
