| Hello,
Ok, so by the best estimates we now know ten of the twelve huge minis in WotDQ, with an eleventh pretty much identified as well.
Breakdown:
Know Uncommons
Bluespawn Godslayer Huge Fiendish Spider Huge Fire Elemental Mountain Troll Purple Worm
Known Rares:
Aspect of Tiamat Sorcerer on Black Dragon Aspect of Bahamut/Unidentified Dragon Dracolich
Revealed:
Eldritch Giant (Uncommon?)
Outlined:
Mammoth & Rider (Rare, likely)
So, we still have space for a Hydra in my opinion.
That said, if the Mammoth and Rider are Rare, and the Eldritch Giant is also rare, then we have an uncommon slot available. That would leave space for a Huge Water Elemental.
Hmmm ...
Which way will it go?
Cheers [:)] | | Successful Trades: 77 * Pending Trades: 0 * Bad Trades: KONG (B.W.) Trade History * Trading Thread * Sales Thread * Winnipeg Meetingplace

| | heh I really dont think we need a Hydra right now because I personally think the Tiamat is a wonderful stand-in. But I've been informed by glumag and others on irc that they are no-where near the same and we absolutely *need* a hydra hehe. So I wouldnt be against it, since everyone would be happy. But I find it easy to just use the Aspect of Tiamat, and actually give it a use in rpg =). | | Champion of a Knight of Takhisis/Knight of Neraka | |

| I dont want to sound like a downer...But all the classic stuff we really wanted doesnt seem to be being made. The most requested Huges were all from the original MM. They were the 4 Elementals, Hydra, Remorhaz, the other 9 Dragons, Nalfeshnee, Bebilith, Monsterous Spiders and Aboleth.
Looks like out of 11 known slots only 2 of those things were satisfied.
I hope the 12th unkown slot goes to one of the ones mentioned above...But Im losing faith. | | Champion of the Skulk Vindicated Champion of the Twig Blight

| I'm betting that the Eldritch Giant is rare, which would leave us with an uncommon slot left, and I can't see the Hydra being uncommon.

| I can't predict whether the Eldritch Giant is a rare or uncommon. If it were uncommon, one would think it would be included in today's preview:
quote: Shoe said: We knew uncommon giants would prove popular, so we continue the trend in War of the Dragon Queen with two more Uncommon creatures that share the giant type: the Huge Mountain Troll and the Ogre Skirmisher.
That doesn't exclude any other uncommon giants, but it doesn't make it seem very likely either.
So I was leaning towards uncommon with the Eldritch Giant, but now I'm thinking rare.
I agree with Dooku's list (although I still like the huges, especially the Dracolich!). I'm hoping for an Aboleth (not likely), Uncommon Huge Elemental, or a Nalfashee. If rare, I think it will be tne Nalfashee, if uncommon I think it will be the elemental. If it's not on Dooku's list, I'll be disappointed.

| I would bet that the Eldrich Giant is a Rare, just based on his RPG stats. If they were working to keep the Mountain Troll under 200 points and the mountain troll has 200ish HP, how many points is the Eldrich Giant with close to 350 hp?
So I guess that we need to see one more uncommon. As cool as it would be, I can't see them putting two elementals at the same size in the same set. They have nearly the same stats! I don't know what the mystery huge is, but I'm betting against a huge elemental. Not because I don't want one, but because I don't think it's likely the designers would put two creatures in the set that are so similar. | | Champion of the Rakshasa. | A hydra? Not in the same set as Tiamat. They'd be too similar, and they had trouble making the tiamat mini the first go-round, remember? That's why it ended up huge. I'm betting a hydra will also be equally difficult since the necks would be even smaller and have more points of contact, which could weaken the mini.
I'd like to see another huge elemental, but I'm not too optimistic. | | Trade & talk in real time on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis SOFTWARE: PC | PC (free) | MAC

| | Sad face. I'm pretty sure at this point that there will be no hydra, and frankly I'd rather have that than Tiamat. Tiamat is cool and all, but a hydra would probably get more play, likely costing less points and still with some cool abilities I would imagine. The hydra is just a classic monster that has been a long time coming, and so far I think they could have put one in instead of a few of the Huges we've seen. | | "I am created Shiva, the Destroyer; Death, the Shatterer of Worlds." - the Bhagavad-gita

| | Although I would love a hydra, I wouldn't be overly excited with us getting one considering the the Aspect of Tiamat is already included. Not the best proxy, but much better than anything I have to sub for an Aboleth. This thread has given me limited hope that maybe we will get my biggest hope form the beginning a Huge Aboleth. What are the chaces about 1% [:(] An elemental of some sorts would be ok I guess, but in my dim hopes of getting an aboleth I cant get excited about anything else for now. | | Give me more MIND FLAYERS! | |

| Another Huge Elemental would be awesome, either Air, Earth or Water. I agree we need a large water elemental first, but I'd like to see both.
Or maybe another huge dragon?? A White perhaps? Or a Brass?
I'm not so much waiting for a Hydra figure though, won't complain either if there is one.

| | No way are we getting two Rare Multiheaded draconic types in the same set. My bet is the Huge Water Elemental. There's a crazy demand for a large (or Larger) Water Elemental, they just got clear plastic in the set, and the set is based on War. | So what, we've got an uncommon slot left?
A hydra would be a wingless Tiamat with more heads and a simple paint job.
So, it'd have more joins in the complexity-of-assembly department, but less paint steps. Dunno ... still sounds like a rare to me.
Nalfeshnee I could see being as complex as a Mountain Troll or a Fomorian ...
A Retriever would be excellent, but we've already established that Chris likes constructs; the Huge Spider could proxy reasonably well. I wouldn't object to the other Slaughterstone (Behemoth) but I'm sure the community would lynch me for suggesting another MM3 critter ...
D-Beast Pack Lord ... not sure if that'd be rare w/ the arm thingies ...
Dragon Turtle would be a simple sculpt and simple paint ... it's like a Bulette but different. I could see that being uncommon.
Huge Water Elemental could be clear plastic but uncommon.
Frost Worm (wyrm?) would be too similar to the Purple Worm. It would/could be very similar in pose, etc. Purple Worm can proxy for now I think. Still, it'd be a possible uncommon.
Nightwing would be a simple scuplt as well it seems.
Remorhaz ... well ... all those legs ... but could proxy as huge centipede (or vice versa) ... I'd like to see this, but not sure it'd be uncommon.
Tendriculos ... huge plant ... simple enough sculpt and paint.
Titan ... again, could be a simple giant (but BIG)
Let's face it, sculpts are easier to do these days. A Truly Horrid Umber Hulk could pass for uncommon possibly. Who knows? Shoe knows ... I suppose ...
Yrthak ... well ... I'm not sure on flying things. Heck, I'm not sure on Yrthak's anyway. Other than punish-the-party gimmick, I've not seen them used much.
Huge undead a possibility - Zombie or Skeleton.
Vermin always an option; huge centipede being the most desired I think after spider.
Bronze Serpent is huge, could be simple enough (and could proxy for a huge snake).
Catoblepas is huge ... except for the head it's darn simple too.
I wonder if a Malebranche would be hard to sculpt ... it is all one color (but it has the wings ...)
That's about as far through MM1 and MM2 as I can go right now. | | Triangle DDM Skirmish Group | My Email | 45-ish trades and counting | Stuff for Trade * * * Show your brother some love and click here * * *

| A long time ago it was announced that there would be 15 dragon types in this set and also that there would be 5 of the spawn, so we are also still short one "dragon" by my count...
Aspect of Bahamut Aspect of Tiamat Blue Dracolich Dragonwrought Kobold Fang Dragon Large Green Dragon Meepo, Dragonlord Bluespawn Godslayer Blackspawn Exteriminator Greenspawn Razorfiend ??? Whitespawn ??? Redspawn ??? Gold Protector Sorceror on Black Dragon
Think any of these other spawn will be the huge uncommon? I'm guessing so....
I personally would like a hydra but I don't see it coming this set, and even less chance on a water elemental... but what do I know?

I also make it 15 - but I don't think the Gold Protector is one, strictly. I was counting the 'Felldrake'-looking creature. But as I don't know what that one is, I could be completely wrong [:)].
I think number 16 will be a High Wyrmlord (a Half Blue Dragon Hobgoblin Cleric) to go with Red Hand of Doom. (I don't want one, I just think it will come up.)
How sure are we about there being 16 dragon-related creatures? Wasn't the hint something along the lines of "more than a quarter of the set". 20 would be a third, 19 would probably have warranted an "almost a third" sort of a hint. Does that mean 17 or possibly even 18 would be possible?
