| The first pirate mini was male = Orc Raider from Archfiends. How else can you explain the bandana? [:P] Yaaarrr!
I wish it had to do with Xvim. I could use some beasts of Xvim. Alas....
Maybe next weeks mini will be a member of the "Scarlet Sisterhood of Bane, not Xvim"? [:o)] | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. Commander (#32) in only 6 months. Where's my pie? Champion of Dwarven Thunderlashers Knight of the Large Dire Chicken Have/Want List Trade References

| In all seriousness...
I really hope you're right about the Scarlet Corsair. A pirate would be good. A female pirate would be better, especially if she were to have pale skin and red hair, and be dressed in flashy pirate clothes. And, heck, as long as I'm dreaming, lets make her Chaotic Good, make her an ex-Monk, give her a shock rapier, and call her Captain Jil Kestrel. (Yeah, it's a former character of mine. And my description might not be too far off the mark-- the illustration from Stormwrack at least has the hair and skin right, although it's more brutal and less stylish than I'd really prefer.)
As for the second part... I think Shoe's clue is implying that it has nothing to do with the FR deity Bane, but rather some other use of the word. Of course, the fact that he spelled it with a capital "B" implies that it's being used as some sort of proper name. Is there anything in D&D besides the FR deity that uses the word "Bane" as part of a proper name or title?
Lastly, I wonder if there isn't a "hidden" third clue in that final line, a clue centering on the word "applaud". Not sure what that would refer to, though. Some sort of performer, maybe? Perhaps a Lillend? | | "Life is short. Death is shorter."-- motto of the Halfling Assassin Squad

| Shoe needs to start giving fake hints from now on. The ones we're already getting are absurd (Taxidermy?!?!)
Examples:
Next week's preview will have something to do with the letter X. or maybe G. or maybe both. (answer: preview about orcs.)
For next week's preview, we've decided to focus on something commonly associated with druids. Elf druids, to be precise. (answer: Medium Blue Dragon and a new Ogre)

They're also Hobgoblins. Hobgoblins might have scarlet colored skin in addition to them being in RHoD. You've got me on the Xvim clue. If it wasn't so similar to the Purple Worm, I'd guess that maybe a Banelar Naga could be the missing huge mini. It's more than that-- after Bane's death, Xvim was the agent of his rebirth. Essentially, Xvim was a "seed" of sorts that allowed Bane to be reborn from death and reclaim his power. | Hmm, looking at the books listed in the WotDQ product description, one sees Races of the Dragon.
Maybe it's the bane of an enemy? The Dragonborn certainly fit that description as banes of the scions of Tiamat.

| Given the fact that some of the minis to be previewed were changed because of the leaked minis shown in Preview X, I'm guessing we'll see two more of those.
Scarlet could be the red lizard creature in Preview X r1c3, which we suspect to be a Redspawn _something_.
Bane could refer to the _insert creature type here_ Bane special ability of some minis, and given the theme of the set, I think we might see Evil Dragon Bane (Melee attack +2, melee damage +10 Magic against evil Dragons). What better figure to have it than the (supposed) Sacred Warder of Bahamut which some suspect is the mini pictured in Preview X r1c1.
As for the applause, well... maybe it means that we'll be seeing a figure soon that can cast the silence spell [}:)][)]

| So, here's what I did last night that got me all kinds of happy for a Scarlet Corsair:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLG%2CGGLG%3A2005-35%2CGGLG%3Aen&q=scarlet+-brotherhood+dungeons+dragons+site%3Awww.wizards.com
Basic google fu: scarlet -brotherhead dungeons dragons site:www.wizards.com
The "Bane not Xvim" clue is harder.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLG%2CGGLG%3A2005-35%2CGGLG%3Aen&q=bane+-xvim+dungeons+dragons+site%3Awww.wizards.com
Google fu for those of you playing the home game: bane -xvim dungeons dragons site:www.wizards.com
Nothing really jumps out on that one. Tiamat and Bane both share the Tyranny domain; that's kinda neat but doesn't lead me to a mini. There are some interesting ones, but which I think are unlikely like Xathcrism, the beholder that calls itself "Bane's Eyes" http://www.wizards.com/forgottenrealms/DnD_ES_009.asp
Anyway, my Google-fu is less strong on that path.

| The following are Bane Related creatures
Banelich: Bane over the years turned a number of his High priests into Banelichs and when Bane was killed during the time of troubles he invested his divine essense in 25-30 Bane Lichs he had created. The Banelichs never joined the Xvims church and Xvim actually tried to track down and kill them.
Banelar: Water Nagas who where corrupted by Bane and turned into Banelars (Huge naga's)
Banedead: Undead created when Cyric tried to kill off all of Banes worshipers
Beast of Bane: A Template that can be applied to creatures basicly making them Banes servants
Fzoul Chembyrl: The Chosen of Bane
Gareth DragonsBANE: My Wild card entry, Gareth is a Paladin and follows the Forgotten Realms deity Ilmater his achievements include Destroying the Wand of Orcus and killing Tiamat the goddess of Evil Dragons. The Fact that WODQ has a strong dragon flavour and that the Aspect of Tiamat is in the set makes me think that Shoe might be refering to Gareth Dragonsbane and that in DDM Gareth will be LGs Epic beat sticks for dealing with WODQ glut of Evil Dragons | | Champion of the Zhentarim: Manshoon, Fzoul and Scyllua Darkhope
