| Don't be silly, there are Dragonlance figures in WotDQ.
Draconians were such a good idea that they had to make a fiendish version and call them abishai. These didn't catch on quite as much as the draconians did, but were still a decent semi-new monster. The new staff's creative well had run completely dry and they needed new monsters for Monster Manual XLVI, so they ripped off the concept one more time for the rediculous pieces of garbage they put in this set.
If you think I am just an old grognard railling against everything new, just wait until set XXI where they rip off the idea for a 4th time since not enough people complained about the third version. | | Thailfi's Have/Want List Thailfi's References

You are absolutely right. I should have remembered them from MMII as many times as I have used that book. Okay, so draconians are a rip-off of abishai. Dragonspawn are still an uninspired knockoff. | | Thailfi's Have/Want List Thailfi's References

I THINK there's an FR supplement that has them, Monsters of Faerun or some such. I'm not sure, I dislike the setting so I don't keep up with it.
I KNOW you can find the stats for the Blue Abishai in Red Hand of Doom. From there it would be easy to modify them to whatever color/energy type you need | | Better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you're not My Have/Want list Trades pending with: Competed trades (11) ares71,pagansexy,bradu,Unearthed Arcana, Garate,Arbados dobblegog, blackthorne,aussie_jim, spikegif, Lady Bast

I'd have to agree with IanB on this one.
Plus, calling things a knockoff in our hobby is kind of funny. It's not as though DL is a completely original concept itself. Don't get me wrong, I like the setting-but I like it because it's well executed and entertaining-not beacuse it's totally original. I'll pass judgement on Dragonspawn once I see more about them and put them to work a time or two. In reading Shoe's campaign updates, they seemed to work out well in RHoD. | | Better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you're not My Have/Want list Trades pending with: Competed trades (11) ares71,pagansexy,bradu,Unearthed Arcana, Garate,Arbados dobblegog, blackthorne,aussie_jim, spikegif, Lady Bast

It's not early at all. I have seen five of them already. WAAAAY more info than I need to pass judgement. Correct me if I am wrong, but are they not draconic, infernal, servants of Tiamat? Sounds like a knockoff of abishai to me.
I me, come on, we have;
A big green cricket. An ugly, baby blue, Barney looking, goofball. An albino kobold with wings. A less than fearsome red lizard dog. A black half-dragon with a different name on its base.

| | They aren't infernal. At least, the ones in RHoD don't have the extraplanar subtype, or the outsider type. They are monstrous humanoids or magical beasts. You've seen pictures all these things from one angle, without any of the accompanying flavor text or game statistics.
I'm willing to bet your mind was made up as soon as you had a sniff that they were going to be using slots on something new, and it doesn't actually matter how well-done it ends up being (or not being.)
