I think XenoZephyr suggestion is a good one. As some of the good people from Syracuse become more established in this community, start attending cons and tournaments, etc. it will be very easy to tell that they aren't Cha0tic G0od. We'll have to be very cautious with new members from that area, but we do want Maxminis to remain an open and welcoming place for new members.

Are you guys 100% sure Chaotic Good and Tactician are the same guy,I've spoken to both on IRC and the old Maxminis chat and they didn't have a similar style of typing and verbiage in my opinion.I'd be interested in seeing this proof.

I had been a member of this site several years ago and then returned again just two months ago. I can't believe this is still going on and it maks me glad the the good people I traded with weren't his personas in disguise. Good luck to those who were not as fortunate.

The only other thing I can say on the matter is that I'm really glad there is this good trust network here to catch unscrupulous people. It's why when I demo any of the miniatures games as a WOTC delegate I recommend everyone check out this site. As a large forum with many visitors who post often, this community is one of the best in terms of civility, openess, and trustworthiness that I've visited no matter the subject matter.

Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

I had one trade with CG... before he went CE. it took 10 days to get to him. His end was just fine. Thing is I live 1 hour away in Rochester.

Someday I will have to make a road trip out there to play in syracuse.. just to see the fool.

It's people like him that give areas a bad name.

I've had 3 trades go south from Canada. Now, I have a policy that any Canucks that wish to trade with me, MUST send first, regardless of thier Rep.

100% sure. Not sure if I can/want to speak on everything right now, but the proof is there and it will come out. I myself am waiting for one particular event before I feel completely comfortable sharing the information that I have.

I had a purchase with Tactician and it went through but it was rocky. He was very responsive on my emails and it took about a month to get my figs. He recieved my payment two days after we had a deal. It was not the transaction I hava had to deal with though.
The only thing that struck me as weird was I had to make my payment out to a female, but the address was in Syracuse so I just assumed it was his girlfriend or something.

Just out of curiousity who were the traders? Did you put them on the bad traders list? I had one not long ago that never sent his package to me even though he said he had. I've had a couple bad experiences so I never send first, always waiting until I receive the goods from them before sending. My guy was from London, Ontario which is not too far from Syracuse, NY interestingly enough. Could it be the same guy again? It's almost to a point where I think we need a better system other than "honesty trading" to be in place. Perhaps only paypal verified people can trade. Then you could send each other the costs of postage and DC to make sure it's real. For the time though being I'm always requiring people to send first.

Yeah Wake, to borrow a term from sports, it's a stone-cold lead pipe lock that Chaotic Good and Tactician are the same person. As Xeno said, we've passed on the information we have to the appropriate parties here, but we're waiting for a few things to happen and we're waiting for some guidance before we let this information out in the open.

Won't make a difference. I am 100% certain that there is a postal worker who handles sorting of cross-border packages who is a DDMer - hell, it mightr even be CG himself - who is stealing minis.

I have had several trade an eBay packages from the US fail to arrive and one I sent to the US failed to arrive as well. Unfortunately the cat I was sending to went off on a bender, said I ripped him off, that he "knew (I) wasn't going to send the minis", and accused me of outright theft - which is why I no longer trade on the WotC boards and have largely stopped trading altogether.

The few bad traders ruin it for everyone. Sad but true. [:(]

You are right, Sulaco, about the few bad traders ruining it for everyone.

I wasn't trading for a long time, when the whole Chaotic Good thing started. Partly because of him (and partly because I didn't have that many figures), I stopped trading all together.

Now I'm thinking about getting back in and.. well, read this.

It's very sad, very sad.. *sigh* I hope something can be done.

Was this Harvey Dickens from London, Ontario? We have a thread over on the WotC site about this Canadian guy. Several of us got ripped off by him using the name Steel Pred. He's stolen over $300 worth of minis from people so far.

Anyway, I did a deal with Tactician. I keep records of every transaction I've done...so I have the address he gave me if anyone needs it. He sent me a D-Beast & Wraith without problems.

Has anyone tried compiling & comparing addresses that his aliases used to see if there is any pattern? How many are business addresses compared to resident addresses? What are the names of the residents at the addressess? Any similiarities in the names? Maybe they are family members. Investigating things like that could help narrow down the search on his true identity.

I really don't see how a guy can go undetected when he's spread himself so thin. Someone is picking up packages at these addresses and there's lots of people that know who is picking up packages at their address. Someone is bound to give his identity away. If you guys skirmish with him at a gaming shop; has he ever bought anything from the shop with a credit card? The owner of the shop may know his real name.

Heck, the Syracuse gamers could even get together and confront one of the addresses residents as a group just to see what happens.

I got scammed by a guy in London, ON a few years back too (from the WotC boards, not here). Hmmm...

(edit: just checked and my bad trade was with someone named Stephen, not Harvey - apparently I never traded with CG either although I thought I had)

I also had a trade going into Canada that took forever going both ways - I thought for sure it was going sour, but a month later they showed up. I've had slow deliveries to Canada from eBay sales too. Is this normal with Canadian mail?

I'm sure he's bought stuff at the shop, but I'm fairly certain its always with cash. At this point, I'm about 99% sure we DO have his real name, but we can never be sure. He's been meeting us at the shop for almost a year and operating under an assumed name, so we're not COMPLETELY sure.

I recently traded with both Incarnum and Tactician, and although the trades were good, had I known that they were both indeed ChaoticGood, I wouldn't have traded.
Would posting CG's personal address on the boards, where people can see, be a bad idea? It seems that he can acquire a new account at will and has no intention of stopping this deception. Just a thought.

It seems like this guy is a real mf, but by discussing this in the open could he not just read this to and stay "ahead" of everyone here? It's obvious he's been doing this for awhile, I hate to say it but a post or posts like this could give him a good advantage, enough to have kept him in business for a long time. Just an observation. If this guy is the same guy thats been ripping ppl of under different names he's probably stolen more than what you think, (nobody goes to all this trouble for a few hundred or so dollers) I'd recommend finding his real name or address or both, and hitting him with mail fraud anything over $100 won't be taken lightly & and it seems he's well over that. Just remember postal crimes are federal crimes.

Let me just say this for hopefully the last time.

A) A lot of this information has already been gathered.
B) Other information is in the state of being gathered.

C) This individual is reported to have a violent past. I've seen the police blotter. A lot of the information that is being posted is coming to everyone at the VERY REAL personal risk of some of us.

So, please, restrain from suggesting what the Syracuse players should and should not do since not all of the information has been posted.

Trust me, and everyone else, things will be resolved as best as possible.

I live in Oswego, NY. It is about 45 minutes to Syracuse. I play and basically run the DDM sceen (judging and setting up tournaments) in Syracuse NY at How You Play the Game (formerly Altered States). I've put a lot of time and money (gas is expensive!) into getting DDM going in Syracuse. I don't really trade much but I would get pretty annoyed if someone wouldn't trade with me based on CG.

So, let me propose the following. If anyone is trading in the Syracuse area, ask me to verify them for you. Or you can ask Bluedevyl, he may not be as known as I am yet but it was his information that was used to connect this individual with these accounts, so I would hope that would make him just as trustworthy. So, feel free to verify with either of us on who's safe to trade with in Syracuse and we will do our best to check them out for you. Obviously we don't know everyone in Syracuse but we will do our best.

So, I can say right now

XenoZephyr
Bluedevyl
Rebell

Are all MaxMinis members in the Syracuse area who are definately NOT CG or one of his aliases. The rest of the core of my group does not post on MaxMinis but when/if they do we will verify their usernames as well.

As I said earlier, I will be more than happy to privde a reference for:

XenoZepher (great guy, wnet to Toronto qualifier together, play DDM alot against eachother) [^]

Bluedevyl (played against him a number of times at pre-releases) [^]

I will make it a point to meet and get to know more of the Syracuse players at the events - Qualifier and WotDQ pre-release so that I can further be a reference for them and continue to help grow thier DDM scene.

I did not post it first because it is more related to his real life identity than his online aliases and did not feel comfortable posting it yet. I only post it now to try to make people understand that they might not want to judge the situation without having all of the information ahead of time and without being directly involved with it as others are.

Thanks

Understand also, at this point, its kind of an unknown... we do know this, but we have no idea how he might respond to all this... he may respond violently, he may not, we just do not know...

It's enough to not make me want to show up to the games, because, really, we don't know him... we have no idea how he will react... As Xeno said, there is a lot going on here, and we need to be exceedingly careful... hell, he's probably reading this thread

hell, he's probably reading this thread

Make that definitely. About an hour and a half after posting in this thread about getting ripped off, I get an email from Incarnum after several days of waiting for a response. Allegedly, my minis are going out tonight and I will have a DC shortly.

Not having been born yesterday, I'm not holding my breath. However, if he does make good on the trade, I'll let everyone here know.

I, like you, was also not born yesterday, but if he does get himself back on track and tries to fulfill the dozens if not hundreds of orders he never shipped, then I will feel like all the time and effor that went into tracking down the screen names and other info wasn't in vain, though he can never really regain his lost stature and respect that he once had on these boards and elsewhere...

Kidding, of course. If this guy has a history of violence then confronting him is a very bad idea indeed. It's not worth anyone's health and safety (unless you outnumber him).

Ok the message is out, enough has been revealed and before anyone posts or does something intemperate or foolish, I am going to close this thread. Thanks for chiming in, but as some of the posters have said, the issue that they face is being handled in a manner that works for them. If we (mods) learn of anything new about this situation that merits broader discussion, it will be posted.
