Does anyone know what this is? On Amazon monster manuals are hardback and miniatures are mentioned as paperback. It doesn't seem to be any monster manual that I've heard about. | | Positive trades: Tactician, Talistran, Chad the DragonLordofAiur x2, Favorite_1, Blackblood, mykbuckley, cooter926, Thorgrin, James the True

| | I have no clue what that is. Price-wise, it's not the SE Monster Manual (which is $75). It could be a gift set containing MM2, MM3, and Fiend Folio - like the Races of X gift set. | | Hypethetical Blood War Set List | Champion of the Gelugon | Vindicated Prophet of Blood War Ha 69/80 | De 60/60 | Ar 57/60 | GoL 72/72 | Ab 60/60 | DK 60/60 | AF 60/60 | UD 59/60 | WD 57/60 | WDQ 3/60| BW Total DDM Count: 1037 | No chance of finishing the set | Will finish the set | Set | |

| | I thought so as well but the mention of it being paperback is what's really throwing me off. There are very few monster manuals out that are in paperback. IMO not near the amount that would equate to the price they're asking. | | Positive trades: Tactician, Talistran, Chad the DragonLordofAiur x2, Favorite_1, Blackblood, mykbuckley, cooter926, Thorgrin, James the True

My guess is that it's MM2, MM3 & MM4 in a giftset box

| It'd be nice if it was something like Draconomicon, Libris Mortis, Lords of Madness or something of the sort. I would consider getting such a collection, but I'm afraid the price point is a little low for it. | | Completed trades (22) with Drammattex, Sodj, Arbados, Thorgrin, Engineer230, Milawjax, ckissee, Faragdar the Wise, doubtofbuddha, bombur, Nixlord, Alepulp, gausse, Blob39, callidusx3, Temujinn, wraith428, darthpoke, DNDJUNKIE, bradu, gordonboom. | |

| | Wheres the optimism people? A rerun of twenty or so "classic" DDM monsters with nice new statcards would be awesome beyond belief, and would make most RPG players worship wizards. Many of us new players simply cannot easlily afford to buy, and often cant find for sale, relative RPG staples from older sets such as Large red dragon, umber hulk, displacer beast etc. | | Thousands of Zulu's, behind You!

While I certainly wouldn't mind, doing that would completely alienate a large number of collectors. I agree with Merric's guess. Since they'd almost definitely need a new printing, it would be nice if they updated the MM2 in it to 3.5 edition. It would also be nice if they applied the eratta to the MM4. | | Champion of the Rakshasa. Check out my Mini Terrain Maker, or my new Dungeon Map Maker (under development).

| Hmm... I've been making do with some borrowed copies. I'm been thinking it was time to get at least the FF, and perhaps MMII and III. I do hope it is some combination of II,III,IV, FF, rather than monsters of Faerun etc.

| a set of classic monsters, with different base descriptions (set number, etc,) would possibly be the best thing ever done for the role-playing community
I'd say Umber Hulk, displacer beast, ogre, troll, Large Red Dragon, a handful of orcs, gnolls, and lizardfolk.
Good god I'd buy 4 sets.
As for collectors-well to be blunt screw'em if they are so offended. Real collectors will simply collect those versions as well for completeness...those in this game for a "profit" should leave and suck the soul from some other hobby.
But alas, I doubt that it is in any way minis...would be too good

I would, too. However, I'm pretty sure it'll be the MM's slapped together -- as Merric said. | | Trade & talk in real time on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis SOFTWARE: PC | PC (free) | MAC

You probably would. But then you'd also stop buying D&D Minis in the regular expansions as much, especially if you had your basic undead/humanoids/giants/dragon/demons covered. And this sort of wide-scale fallout would kill off the line.
I do think we'll see monster sets, given enough time. But make no mistake, they will also signal the upcoming death knell of DDM. | | Champion of the Aboleth, Prophet of Denizens. BW Called Shot: Babau, UH Called Shot: Aspect of Vecna

Star Wars minis (of the 1 inch human variety) are almost at the end of their production for some time(at least) -- WotC is switching to ship battles for the next sets. | | Champion of the Aboleth, Prophet of Denizens. BW Called Shot: Babau, UH Called Shot: Aspect of Vecna

| Oh, one more thing -- if you do an Amazon search for "dungeons dragons gift set", you'll notice that the Races Gift Set and the corebook gift set are -exactly- the same price as the "monster gift set". Additionally, an 89.95 miniatures set seems way out of line pricing-wise with other endeavours, including the SW nonrandom stuff.
Given that information, it seems very, very unlikely that the new gift set has anything to do with miniatures. | | Champion of the Aboleth, Prophet of Denizens. BW Called Shot: Babau, UH Called Shot: Aspect of Vecna

Now that I'd buy!
I'm not so impressed with the MM II-IV, or FF, MM II-III option. It's tempting, but with all the errata that I'd have to maintain...It just wouldn't be worth it so far as I'm concerned.

| | I don't think it's too far fetched to think it would be a paperback MM set of some sort. They put a paperback Players Handbook in a kit recently. It's probably 3 or 4 paperback versions of the different MMs. | | The Waterboy. Proud member of Team Amish. | |

Almost... The next set is another huge set, Bounty Hunters.
Star Wars Does have 1 non-random pack, with another on the way. However, they are designed as a package to distribute maps and scenario's as much as anything else.
A similar package from DDM might contain A Glabrezu, Tieflling Captian, and 2 abyssal skulkers, and the next set of Fantasic location maps.
Not nearly as exciting as a "greatest hits" of Har/DE/Arch.
