| I've been doing some research in order to file a legal complaint against Chaotic Good/Incarnum/Tactician. Because this is an Internet issue that spans many states and countries, the local police referred me to the FBI.
The FBI has (along with the National White Collar Crime Center) developed a website for reporting the kinds of crimes this guy has committed. You can find information at http://www.ic3.gov. There's a complaint form, and a means of tracking that complaint through their investigation process.
Now, one complaint may not be enough to get the authorities to put a lot of effort into this matter, but if EVERYONE who this guy has stolen from enters a complaint, then we're talking about an ongoing attempt to defraud the public to the tune of thousands of dollars, and that's something the autorities will take seriously.
So, I urge everyone on this forum who has lost property to Incarnum/Tactician/ChaoticGood/[insert alias here] to post their information on this website.
Here are some things to remember as you file your complaint:
* Print out and keep all records of your contact with this individual. According to the site, they can be used as evidence, as can any conversations on this forum, so print out and save any relevant threads, too. * Make sure to include all known information about this guy in your complaint. That means all internet aliases he goes by, all known names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, emails...anything you have access to that will help the FBI track this guy down. * Include all information about the transaction, including what was sent, and what was promised by him, with an emphasis on the dollar values involved (as outlined in the price guide). * Include the screen name that you use here, and mention the maxminis site. If you were defrauded, or know of anyone who was defrauded on another website (like the ebay stores that were mentioned in another thread) post that information as well. * When you file a complaint, please post in this thread to let the community know you're part of the process of bringing this criminal to justice!
Thanks,

| glumag: It's probably far too late for that. Having had no direct contact with this fellow, my comments are from the perspective of someone outside the matter. In other words, I'm just discussing theoreticals.
But basically...when someone has allegedly done the same crime so many times to so many people, I'm unsure if "making good on trades" is enough to settle the matter. From the thread XenoZephyr started, we have accusations that Chief Always Changing Names (my silly name for the fellow in question) has unloaded stolen minis onto others via trade, without them knowing they're receiving stolen property. This accusation cannot be easily disproven, and if invoked in this matter, leaves a second, significant matter.
In other words, if Chief Always Changing Names did steal minis and unload them in other trades, that's a second matter on top of simple 'bad trades.' Making good on the bad trades wouldn't clear him, because there's still that matter to resolve. So it's far too late for that to do anything to help in this case beyond be a positive character reference, which could be countered by claims of "He's done this before; good trades, then goes bad on us." I cannot personally comment if he's guilty or innocent since I have no direct connection to the matter, but there are so many allegations against this fellow that there's likely to be an investigation no matter what he does. | | - Irrationally Fanatical Champion of Pegasus-mounted cavalry - Proud member of Team Low Tier Beasting: I play CG as my main faction! - Garland, TX 2006 Qualifier Champion My trading thread: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19725

I agree, I was just commenting because I am sure he is reading and I am sure he'll want to skip a federal investigation, by fulfilling his debts he might lessen the upcoming hurt. | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! Anyway, it's too bad XenoXephyr didn't figure out who "Bill" was sooner, or we could have nailed him. I remember the days of CG's good reputation. Fotunately for me, it was before I really started trading that he went sour. Between him and Thayil, the community really struggled with fairness. It's too bad Thayil lives outside US domain, or there would be another person to nail to the wall. Obviously, anyone who knew him should contribute to this thread with info. | | Completed trades: Gausse, Mazra, Pagansexy, Galerians, Lord_Raven, Drakkengi, Temujinn x2, Random Sasquatch, elf_ranger, Azuretide, Hung4treason, Griffrat (face2face), Nasamonkey Carpe Forum!

| Yeah, I probably should've been more clear; I was taking a shot at his naming habits since he has like 80 of them and "Strongbow Lone-Eagle" was one of them, so that's what came to mind. I could've just as easily called him Alias McHundrednames and it would've gotten the same point across despite using an Irish naming tendency.
Obviously I wasn't taking shots at specific ethnic groups, just like I wouldn't expect someone would be setting out to belittle me if they made a Texas/wild-west stereotype joke despite my living in the region. | | - Irrationally Fanatical Champion of Pegasus-mounted cavalry - Proud member of Team Low Tier Beasting: I play CG as my main faction! - Garland, TX 2006 Qualifier Champion My trading thread: http://www.maxminis.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19725

Given the legal issues, I think it would be wise for everyone involved to be as professional as possible and not resort to name calling. | | It's deja vu all over again.

You'd be asking a lot from me. It's a good thing I wasn't involved in getting ripped off by him [:p]
Some people like to take things extremely serious and pretend to be professional, and others like to make light of a bad situation to keep spirits upbeat. I've seen wiser men than all of us resort to much worse than name calling during legal issues [:)] There's nothing wrong with a few people taking jibes here & there in the name of humor.

A-hem!
You, sir, are sadly mistaken. In the film in question, the DI clearly references OKLAHOMA, not the Great State of Texas. For the benefit of Yankees and other foreigners, Oklahoma is that frying-pan-shaped state whose only useful purpose is to keep Kansas from physically touching Texas...

Now the same line is used to defame Texas by the Sarge in Full Metal Jacket. And those who saw the movie know what happened to him.

What makes you think that the people here in the state of Kansas want to be a part of the lonely star state!?! Thanks for the geography lesson......[)][:P] The reference of Texas the "Horns" comes from Full Metal Jacket!!! Just for the record R. Lee Ermey (the D.I. in the film and host of Mail Call on the History channel) is from the State of Kansas....so I guess he was right all along

If I do I will make a scan and post it. I fear that when the wife and I clean that area that I might have thrown it away. But I will look.... | | Ambassador of FUN!!!
