G'day, all!

I'm just wondering who is going to be investigating Dreamblade, which will be released in only a few days.

Although I'm not particularly interested myself, two of my good friends, Sarah and Daniel, look like they'll be getting some and playing it... which I guess will drag me in just a little.

(I use DDM mainly for RPG purposes, btw).

Cheers!

I'll be playing. I am REALLY looking forward to this game. I know Dagni, BShugg, Pat Lynch, CGroves, and many others are playing as well.

I'm still contemplating. Between MTG, D&D minis, and now possibly this, my wallet is going to be hurting. Knowing me though, I'd probably get a case or two. If I don't like it, I can always sell them off to get more minis.[:D]

No Dreamblade for me.

Not interested in any more collectable games.

DDM is quite enough.

Already pre-ordered the Large pair of boots. I may snag one or two other singles for D&D use.

I haven't the time nor the income to support two plasticrack addictions. I have toyed with the Dreamblade rules/played a couple of proxied games and it's a well put together system.

I still prefer D&D/DDM, however.

I may pick up some singles for rpg use if they're cheap enough, but have no interest in playing the game itself.

I'll be fringe.

I'll buy a few figures for RPG, and I'll buy a few singles to build a few warbands for friendly play, but I plan to keep my costs per expansion to less than $50 (with ~$100 devoted to the first cycle).

Not for me. I only get to game so many days of the month. And if we're playing games we're probably going to use the time to play D&D.

Thanks for the head's-up. Having just visited the website, I think I'm going to have to buy into Dreamblade.

Some nice looking stuff there.
Like Merric, I collect for RP purposes. Even dabbled in the huge SWM set for figures to use in D&D adventures. Dreamblade looks pretty good to me.
Spare bedroom is just about full with D&D minis though. Probably have to move to a bigger house. Now to convince spouse that it is all her idea. [)]

Just bear in mind it's on the 40mm scale, so anything you pick up would be Large.

There are some decent RPG minis (the Griffon looks very nicely done).

I'm going to be taking a pass on this one. Sure some of the figures look cool but then again just as many of them are kind of goofy.

Overall it's just too much money to invest in games with DDM, the odd bit of Star Wars, not to mention the SW Battleships game that looks more interesting to me.

Don't much like the sculpts. Have no emotional or nostalgic attachment to the concept. Pretty unappealing, all things considered. Give me DDM any day.

I already have some and I think it's ok. if the bases were smaller so we could use them for d&d it would be helpful. hasn't got me excited enough to buy any. I'll stick to DDM.

Although some look quite nice DDM is enough for me. I use them strictly for RPG so this may have something to do with it considering I am really not into the skirmish and such.

I'll likely buy a few singles for D&D. There're some great-looking models there.

But I'm not at all interested in playing.

The only CMG (other than DDM) that has a chance of getting my money is the Star Wars ship-to-ship game. And that's iffy, since I don't play Star Wars RPG.

I demoed it, and preordered the starter and a booster.
It's really fun.
I will not compulsively complete sets, and I don't think it will require a huge amount of figures to play it.

I am not seeing it being that expensive to play, could be wrong though, once the mental gymnists run it through the ringer.

I'll be getting some singles only. I've little to no interest in the game itself, nor the time to explore it.

I'll echo the sentiment around here, may buy some singles for RPG, but will not buy boosters or cases. Too many odd figures ... No interest in the game itself. I barely play DDM...

I'll be buying select singles for use in RPG but that's about it. I can't invest heavily in another game at this point.

I'll buy a few singles. But there is too low a percentage of playable units to make boosters cost-effective.
I expect expansions to only have a few playable units (since anything worse than the earliar sets is immediatly obsolete) But a base set should manage a lot better than 25%.
Looks to me as if WotC are trying to recoup the prize support by reducing the density of playable units.

Don't worry about the current metagame. It doesn't matter if it's ugly, bad, or the best ever. In 2 years time, set rotation will ban everything.

Some long thoughts:

I will not for the first set be preorering any boosters. However, I'll get quite a few via my Delegate work, and I plan to do some sealed events.

I cannot envision having a "gotta get em all" mentality with this type of game. I'm sure Clix players have the same issue. What do you do with all the non-tier 1 pieces? With DDM, they move right over into my RPG box. But 90% of dreamblade pieces aren't D&D RPG suitable, so if they aren't tier 1 do I just throw them away?

I like competitive games, but I think I did as well as I did with DDM because I am familiar with D&D. With no basis for a starting strategy with Dreamblade, I'm not certain how I'll do with this game. I'm going to give it about 6 months, and see how I warm up to it. If I do well at some 1k or the 20k event, that will probably drive me to buy more figures, and play more.

You summed up my feelings exactly. I saw a demo of the game and it seems kinda simplistic. Heck, the game doesn't even need mini's... it could be played just as easily with cards in the squares instead (unlike DDM where you actually need LoS from one creature to another and maps have terrain). I'm thoroughly not impressed by Dreamblade, and the idea of the big cash tournaments is more of a turn-off for me as it'll draw that many more hardcore competitors and less of the fun gamers.
Besides, every dollar I'd spend on Dreamblade is a dollar I won't be spending on DDM... and DDM pieces are also useful for my D&D gaming, whereas Dreamblade isn't.
