| I have checked some Dreamblade miniatures recently. The quality of their plastic and painting is impressive. Why they are not using the same quality for the DDMs ? Is it only because of the different scale ?

| Several Reasons IMHO: 1) Different Scale: allows them to make figures look more detailed without actually increasing sculpt complexity and painting steps 2) Greater Cost per Figure: Similar to how SWM got clear plastic first, because they were more expensive per figure to buy, ergo Wizards made more money per figure and could afford more detail (aka clear plastic) although some of this was obviously offset by liscensing costs...
3) Since DB is an original IP, no liscensing costs, ergo they actually do make more money per figure than SW, meaning that in order to justify the greater cost per booster they need to have better quality.
Keep in mind that this is simple speculation, and I have no evidence for any of my claims. | | Call me: W.N. Gobo! originally posted by grim: While he is clearly insane, he does have a point.

| Well, WotC charges more for Star Wars (not to the end user, but to distributors and stores), and they own DDM, so item number 3 isn't really likely.
I'm betting on number 1. More space means better looking. | | Gryfalia's Aerie Bloomington/Normal's only dedicated Game Store! www.gryfaliasaerie.com forums.gryfaliasaerie.com

| | If you hadn't made just a good comprehensive list of reasons,warty_nose_goblin, I'd have posted them. | Well, sorry about forcing you to make a lame post gss_000, but I always try to make enlightening and complete posts. How well I suceed, well that's a different story....
edit: First gss, thanks for the support.
I feel I should also clarify what I mean by Wizards charging more for SWM than for DDM. What I mean is that although the boosters cost the same (at least last time I checked), there are only 7 figures in each SWM booster to 8 in DDM. Obviously some of this difference can be explained by by liscensing the IP, but I also bet its one of the reasons why they could afford to do clear plastic there before they did in DDM- and clear plastic didn't show up until after the price increase cleverly concealed by the WoDQ huges. Dreamblade therefore probably nets them the most income per figure since there arn't any liscensing fees, there's only seven figures/booster, the cost per booster is still the same, and they probably have the advantage of years of experience in streamlining the manufactoring process. Ergo they can afford higher quality. | | Call me: W.N. Gobo! originally posted by grim: While he is clearly insane, he does have a point.

| Yeah, another ditto on the pile.
It's the size that concerns me. It's easier to show detail on larger figs, which may be part of the DDM size creep. I'm happy with what we have, for the most part.
