| Posted By Sulaco on 07/06/2007 2:10 PM Posted By Corim Danex on 07/03/2007 2:05 PM I am trying to think of a positive practical use for RPG for these things. I just thought of repainting them as statues. What do you think? You read my mind. I am planning on doing precisely the same thing.
The irony is that 8 sounds like a good number of statues, but I need one regular one, and making 8 statues would mean I would have to trade for one (shudders) | | "Look to God and live." Alma 37:47 Vindicated Champ of Hippogriff (Arcadian Hippogriff) and Uncommon Horse | |

Yeah, now that you mentioned it, I knew there was something else bothering me about this fig. It looks almost like a normal tiger would, but at least it's nice in concept if not 100% in execution.

I'm quite pleased with the tiger missing the protrusions. Since I doubt we'll see another tiger anytime soon it's nice that this one can sub for tigers, fiendish tigers, celestal tigers, dire tigers, etc. | | Knight Warlord a.k.a. | | The duergar is much better. It's not as wide (look at the feet), and somehow not being a standard dwarf makes him a lot better. | | Completed trades: blackthorne, Drakkengi,Thorgrin, Ironfist Boulderbender x2, ckissee, nasamonkey, Username, Star, Ace13 x3, emontedodger x2, Drconveyor, church, Joeyb, Sir Bozak The Damned, Xeromod, the other guy x2, Qucalion of Celene, Dagaron x2, berus316, qillan_dvra, AshloreDarkShadow

The Duergar Slaver is ridiculously big. So are almost all of the medium-sized humanoids from Unhallowed.
The GoMH is just glaringly bad because most of the other medium-sized humanoids in Night Below are closer to proper scale (1" = 5 feet).

I find the whole D&D dire creatures thing weird. A dire wolverine is large, but a dire badger is medium, while a dire bat is large also, and dire weasel is medium? Have we all seen the sizes of tigers vs wovlerines vs bears vs wolves vs chinchillas? Good lord these dire templates make NO SENSE sometimes.
So, anybody else wonder why a dire bear, tiger or lion aren't huge considering that the standard type animal should be large? | | Greyhaze's DDM Spoilers Champion of a Medium Dog & then a Darkenbeast , Raistlin Majere, Nightmare WDQ25/60, Warduke WD60/60, Anti-Champion of Guns, "Knight of Bugbears", and Joke Champion of Venger. I did wonder a bit before you mentioned it, too. The dire bat being large does seem odd, when the dire tiger is only a large. Bats themselves are tiny. They take an enormous size increase. The tiger, on the other hand, doesn't get much larger at all.

| Go to your local museum of natural history. Oddly enough, most animals which carry the "dire" label are actually quite a bit smaller than their modern counterparts (but have bigger teeth). Dire Wolves are comparable to medium-large dogs.
In the D&D world, "dire" is virtually a template that means "better stats." Generally, the convention runs if it's medium or smaller, "dire" bumps the size up (to something scarier). If it's large or larger "dire" doesn't usually seem to change the size (that's what "legendary" is for).
