| I would encourage all of you who are owed minis by our little -Lance- to file mail fraud charges immediately. He has plainly announced that fulfiling his responsibilities to you as a mature adult is not a priority for him. He clearly needs a little extrinsic motivation, since honor is "dead" to him, and thus honoring his committments is something he does not feel personally compelled to do. Thus, he must be otherwise compelled.
As for you -Lance-, give maturity a chance. Takes about a half-hour, hour tops, to take care of this postal business. I go to work at 8:30 in the morning, and don't get home until 7:30 at night. I've got a wife, a three-month old kid, and a dissertation to finish. Yet, I have time to mail off trades. So, if you say YOU have no time to do so, I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU. I know YOU don't care about that (caring about what others think about you and your word of honor is, after all, a sign of maturity), but I hope that those you have cheated don't buy your excuses either. Be a man. End this.
And to -Lance-'s victims, legal recourse may be your only option. I suggest you contact each other, and get it rolling.

Hear hear, I have 2 jobs myself, a full time one raising three kids. A part time one(computer work and sales). On top of that I work around the house, so maybe three. On top of all that I make the time to fulfill my trade agreements. I think my ref thread speaks for itself. Long story short, as kyrin has said it really only takes roughly an 1/2 hour or so to ship those packages. I think your excuses saying your too busy are a bunch of crap. Sounds more like, your just a slacker who can't get off his sorry a$$ and take care of business.

| There is something you can add, labete. Your confirmed DC# proving that you shipped to Lance is needed. He has refuted your claim. You need to produce proof that he got your Slaad, Minotaur, and Monk.
(the rest of us produced confirmed DC#s several months ago- to prove our claim)
Hope this request helps you both to sort it out. dm5

This gets into a touchy area of disputed trades. As Wake points out, there's no DC available because it's a Canada to US trade. The trade also was not properly reported by either trader, although labete did post that the trade was pending in April at the beginning of this thread. Perhaps email correspondance of some kind would be helpful to clarify the situation. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

| From Lance's blog:
Sunday, August 28, 2005 Friday night I had Chris out to the house...half of the time he sat at my computer playing Kingdom of Loathing, the other half he sat around bitching about there being nothing to do. (Chris is okay, but he's just too comfortable in his perpetual state of laziness and impatience sometimes)
Saturday Morning I got up and around 11 Chris, Devin and myself went to Joplin. We hit up all of the gaming stores in town, including a new one I was previously unaware of.
Sunday, August 21, 2005 "Other than that, the weekend has been dull. I want to do something next weekend..."
Sunday, August 14, 2005 "I had fun, though I'm pretty bored now"
Thursday, August 04, 2005 "I wish something would happen."
Friday, July 22, 2005 “I think I'm ready for school to start, because the boredom is killing me. This could very well be the most boring summer I've ever experienced.”
Friday, July 16, 2005 “so bored...”
Now, from your recent posts on maxminis, you say you are too busy to send out the minis: "Sorry for the delay, I'm starting school in 2 days and I've been extremely busy," August 17th. In response, I have to say…I don’t understand. Granted, I did not take debate in high school, so the intricacies of your argument may be lost on a philistine like myself. From the information given on your blog and your comments here on maxminis, it seems that you are so busy with boredom that you cannot go to the post office to return other people’s property. Do you find yourself saying things like “I can’t do anything tonight because I’m bored”?
Maybe you should define your terms so that everyone here has a better understanding of your position, and maybe they’ll cut you some slack…but I doubt it. You complain on your blog that you have nothing to do, when the fact remains you have had at least one thing to do for the past five months, and you still haven’t done it. When you, Chris, and Devin went to a whole bunch of games stores last weekend in Joplin, you easily could have mailed off the packages. You said “When I have the time, things will be shipped. The way things look, this Saturday is a real possibility. I've got the minis in boxes, with their stat cards in packing foam, addressed, all I need now is to find time to get to the post office. You can copy and paste this to maxminis if you wish,” August 22nd.. The Joplin post office is located within 2.5 miles of three different gaming stores. I know, I know, you guys left at 11 so by the time you arrived the Joplin post office was closed (they close at noon on Saturday). Maybe you didn’t want to ask Chris if you guys could leave a bit earlier so that you could mail off minis you’ve been promising to send for the last 150 days, but he’s a friend, so maybe he would want to help. One of the stores that sells magic cards in Joplin is .4 miles away from the post office, so that store could have been the first store you visited. I’ve included links, so the next time you go to Joplin you should be able to hit up both the gaming stores and the Joplin post office (417.623.6176).
The Book Barn to Joplin post office http://maps.google.com/maps?spn=0.063106,0.117090&saddr=3128+S.+Main+St.+Joplin,+MO+64804&daddr=101+S+Main+St,+Joplin,+MO+64801&hl=en Changing Hands Book Shoppe to Joplin post office http://maps.google.com/maps?spn=0.007887,0.014636&saddr=528+S.+Virginia+Ave.+Joplin,+MO+64801&daddr=101+S+Main+St,+Joplin,+MO+64801&hl=en Eccentrix to Joplin post office http://maps.google.com/maps?spn=0.063106,0.117090&saddr=1002+W+32nd+St,+Joplin,+MO+64804&daddr=101+S+Main+St,+Joplin,+MO+64801&hl=en
Another option you had was to mail out the minis BEFORE you went to Joplin…Nevada’s post office is open from 10am to noon on Saturday, so it looks like you may have dropped the ball on this one. You could have gotten up early and mailed off other people’s property, or you could have asked Chris to pick you up early and mailed off other people’s property, or you could have asked to stop at the post office on your way out of town so that you could mail off other people’s property.
You do understand, of course, that this is other people’s property. I keep repeating that phrase for a reason. If someone took your magic cards or your SNES and decided not to send it back, wouldn’t you be pissed? Would you not want your items returned in a timely fashion? When lightning fried your computer 2 months ago, I feel confident that you would by extremely upset if Best Buy customer service kept saying things like “we mailed it, and its not our fault” or “its all packaged up, ready to go.” Wouldn’t you feel justified in griping about their customer service? If Best Buy promised you that your computer would be ready in two weeks, and then EIGHTEEN weeks later they kept telling you to be patient, that they’re really trying to make things right, that they’re busy with retailing new endcaps for the holiday season, would you not voice your displeasure with how undeniably crappy their service is?
I could probably have something mailed from the Nevada post office, and I live 1500 miles away from it…and I’m not much older than you are. Seriously, what is the problem? Why is it taking you so long to do something that takes almost no time at all? How hard is it to go to the post office? In the 2,400 hours the average person has been awake since this debacle began, it would have taken you .0002% of your time to visit the post office, and that’s assuming it takes 30 minutes to go to the post office. Are you arguing that you are so busy that you haven’t been able to spare 3% (30 minutes) of one single day to return items that do not belong to you?
And don’t blame the postal service again. You have never posted contacting them concerning the $1500 of miniatures they lost. What did they say? People bitch about paying a dime for a refill of crappy fast food coffee, yet you haven’t done a single thing about the $1500 you claim the post office took from you.
Aren’t you on a debate team? Don’t you see how hard it is to defend yourself when you blog about your CD purchases, about how there is nothing to do, about how bored you are, and then post on maxminis that you have no money, that you have no time to make good on a deal you agreed to 5 months ago, that we should be patient and not pester you? Can you explain the explicit discrepancies between your maxminis postings and those on your blog? How can you seriously post on here that you have no time when you’ve been writing for the last 3 months about your boredom. Look man, I’m sorry you’re bored. I think everyone goes through a period when a temporary cessation of novel experiences leads one to question the mundane banalities of a GOOD CHRIST ALMIGHTY WOULD YOU STOP LYING TO EVERYONE AND RETURN THEIR PROPERTY.
…………and your situation is soooooooooooooooo easy to fix. Go to post office, ship minis. Two verbs worth of action. Go and ship.
Lance, go and ship the minis. Do not spend time your time crafting witty rebuttals to my comments. Ship the minis instead. Do not spend your time looking for ways to explain how one can be bored and busy at the same time, i.e. bored by busyness. I just brought it up so it’s not an “out” or “oversight”, nor does it apply to this situation given the content of your blog. Ship the minis instead. Do not whine about me posting unfriendly comments on your blog. I haven’t, but I would feel justified in doing so if you had stolen minis from me. Yes, it is your blog, and yes, you have failed to return other people’s property. Ship the minis instead. Do not attempt to conjure up secondary interpretations of words/situations/theories through semantic manipulation/divine inspiration. Ameliorate the situation by shipping the minis instead. Lastly, do not apologize, unless it is in the form of 13 delivery confirmations and a comment along the lines of “have emailed labete.”
To everyone else on the board: I apologize for the lengthy post. To those still waiting for Lance: You may want to try contacting his mother or filing mail fraud charges.

| | Very thorough post, flynnal. Nice job. There is no place, in a debate sense, to hide. I have spoken with a local FBI agent. From what I understand, all that needs to be done is for the people waiting for -Lance- to put their information together in a thorough manner, submit the information to the FBI, along with the information on this reference thread, and there will be a case against -Lance- that shouldn't have trouble catching their attention and qualifying for further investigation. Though I am have no trade with -Lance-, I volunteer to collect the information, organize it, and submit it to the local FBI office in Salt Lake City, UT. If anyone is interested, email me a complete history of your situation and I will compile the information. | | "Look to God and live." | This is what I have advocated for: organizing! Thanks and cheers to Corim Danex for volunteering to take on this role. -Lance- victims, now is the time to step forwards. I suggest that each scammed person (let's call them the Wilson 14?) should put together an email stating:
1. Your full name 2. Your Maxminis nickname 3. Your email address 4. Your mailing address 5. The minis you sent to -Lance- (use their full names) 6. The value of the minis sent to -Lance-, according to Zenako's price guide (use the value at the time you sent) 7. The date on which you sent to -Lance- 8. The minis you were owed by -Lance- 9. The value of the minis you were originally promised by -Lance-
Lastly, I suggest you include a brief description of how your trade went down. No need to elaborate every detail of -Lance's- deception--that will be examined in the investigation. Just write a paragraph or two telling the basic facts of how you were scammed, i.e., what you sent, when you sent, how you approached trying to remedy the situation, how -Lance- responded, and where the matter lies now (i.e., what is the latest story -Lance- has fed you).
I suspect that if you can get the above info to Corim Danex, structured as I've suggested, it should be tidy and digestible enough for the FBI to approach. I'm imagining one to two pages per person: a list of essential info, followed by the details, presented succinctly. Don't use this as the opportunity to rage emotionally about the matter--just give them the facts, which speak for themselves.
I would suggest also that each of the Wilson 14 go through their email history to find and set aside all correspondence with -Lance- over the past months. I don't think that all of it needs to be given to the FBI at the outset, but it would be good to have access to all available correspondence available should they need it to push the case forward.
-Lance- said it: "honor is a dead concept at best." That's all well and good (and melodramatic, and faux-nihilistic, and ...), but the entire *basis* of internet trading--and internet commerce in general--is the honor system: a system from which -Lance- has now explicitly and proudly (and petulantly, and impulsively, and...) excluded himself. Well, -Lance-, honor is the system, but property is the bottom line. And you have stolen property. I think you'll find that your trials here in the court of honor have been much more forgiving than your trials will be in in the court of property...which, I imagine, is probably not all that far from the Joplin post office.

Okay, I'll throw them in the mail tomorrow after school or Saturday before the Post Office closes.
Here's what I'm shipping:
1x Gauth TO: arbados
1x IG-88 1x Ki-Adi Mundi 1x General Kenobi 1x Plo Koon 1x Agen Kolar 1x Kit Fisto TO: Villiam
1x Beholder TO: Ravyn
1x Large Blue Dragon 1x Green Dragon 1x Ogre TO: Grgbobe
Ogre Grim Necromancers Forest Troll Half-Elf Hexblade Skullcrusher Ogre TO: johnboy069
1x Centaur Hero 1x Achaerai TO: samstephenson500
Anakin Skywalkwer (Very Rare, Clone Strike) TO: TravisInferno
Concerning labete, I recieved no email communication from him post-trade agreement, in fact, this is the first time I've heard from him since then. I know you all "don't believe me" but I never recieved anything, and I might be wrong, but it just seems like he noticed the thread and jumped on the bandwagon to get some more minis.

This was brought to my attention by another member. I removed labete's name from the disputed trades list because this seems to be a dispute in dispute. If he can provide some evidence that his end shipped (in the form of Delivery Confirmation, post office receipts, email correspondance, etc.) I'll gladly re-add him to the list.
The other option would be keep him on the list of Lance's disputed trades AND add his name to the list of traders with trades in dispute.
If anyone disagrees with this approach feel free to let me know; I'm honestly not really sure how to handle it. | Well, regarding -Lance-'s newest post, I must say that we've heard this one before. It may be true, it may be false (we certainly have no reason to "honor," if you will, these promises), but I would encourage everyone to go forward with submitting your info to Corim Danex. Until we see DCs--and preferably until we see some of these things *arrive*--there's no justification for taking the latest claims seriously. Remember the most recent "Saturday looks good" runaround. How many weeks ago was that?
I would also point out that this list only comprises *half* of those owed minis. Since everyone's minis are supposedly packaged and ready to go for weeks now (and I'm sure they really are), it's no great stretch to send those "after school tomorrow or Saturday before the post office closes." Maybe this will be where we hear about how -Lance-'s backpack is too small to carry so many packages. And if we're going to get the "bad luck" with multiple packages story, then how about taking in 7 in on Friday, and 6 in on Saturday? I know, I know...it's radical thinking. I mean, -Lance- is only *human* after all.
My point being that there's yet no reason to take this seriously, or to slacken the momentum of organizing until 13 valid DCs are posted, and packages start arriving.

When I said everyone I was referring to the 6-7 I said I would send. I will send the other half sometime after everyone starts recieving these, if that's a problem, I'm sorry. But I think knocking off half of the people who have a dispute with me is pretty good.

| Don't strain your arm patting yourself on the back, my filching friend. It's no great feat to finally go to the post office after 6 months of jerking people around.
"Aaaw heck, sttmxn..it's only been half a year. Cut a brother some slack, will ya?"
We'll see if you really follow through. Your word is meaningless at this point (one's word being a point of honor, you see), so your DCs (or lack thereof) will speak for themselves--and but a whisper at that, until people start receiving their due.
Let me also point out that it makes no sense why you wouldn't just send all the minis you owe. Unless, of course, you don't actually have them...or maybe you just need them for this weekend's game.
Anyhow, you've got your work to do, and your victims have theirs (thanks again to Corim Danex). Find and/or buy the minis you owe, and put 13 packages in the mail. You can keep this from getting a lot uglier.

I am keeping this from getting ugly by sending out 7 packages and 6-7(not sure if the count was 14 pre or post labete complaint)soon after the ones I'm shipping arrive.

| Sure, sure. We'll have reason to believe you when we have reason to believe you. Which is to say: create a reason to believe you by getting the minis to their proper owners instead of endlessly talking about it and proclaiming your innocence.
Stop typing, start arranging for a ride to the post office. It is, after all, a superhuman task that takes months of strategic planning (not to mention pages and pages of excuses and lies).
The end of this mess is entirely in your hands, champ.

Well, since it's 12:40 a.m. do you expect me to break in? I go to school in 7 hours and 20 minutes, I get out of school 7 hours later, so I'd say you'll see DC's in about 16-20 hours, depending on when I get home after mailing them.

EDIT:
Just to get the ball rolling on the final 6 packages being shipped I need the addresses of the following users as well as what I owe them:
BuddyLSavage Dm5 jono
These users I have that information for already, but it would be extremely helpful if they would email me so I can confirm it all as the word document it's all in is quite old:

| | I have received information from one person already and am beginning to compile it. By the way, I want no compensation for this. The resolution of the problems is my primary objective. I just want everyone involved to know that I want as many as possible to send in the information. The principle reason is that the more people that send in information, the stronger the case becomes. Not only is it more likely to help you, it is also more likely to help the others that have taken the time to send me the information. | | "Look to God and live." | Corim: You had emailed me asking for some info about my dealings with lance. However, I recall at the time I didn't have the time to go through my information to send it to you. Give me a email and I can probably get through my stuff to offer as another individual who Lance has robbed from.

| Well, if my awareness of Missouri time is correct, it's 8:40p there, and no DCs. Hm...weird. It's almost like -Lance- didn't follow through on what he'd said.

| | I am happy to say that I actually received my minis from Lance today in the mail [:0]!!! It wasn't the agreed upon trade, but was an equivalent substitute to me. I am just glad that he has resolved this with me and I hope it works out for all the rest of you. | | Give me more MIND FLAYERS! | |

| | I am also relieved to say that I recieved my minis today as well. As above, it wasn't the agreed upon trade (I actually lost a little), but I am glad that I got a substitute. | | "Of all the things I that I have lost, I miss my mind the most." -Ozzy Osbourne

| | Althoug we haven't heard from them yet, DC confirms their receipt and they haven't raised any objections in a full week. Therefore I am removing Grgbobe, Villiam, and TravisInferno from -Lance-'s list of problem trades (if you guys haven't received, let us know). Hopefully this will clear the way for -Lance- to send compensation to the final 6 people waiting for their minis. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread | |

| Can we please get confirmations posted here from Ravyn, Grgbobe, Villiam, TravisInferno, and samstephenson500? We need to know if we can officially scratch these off the list so that we can get into when the remaining six packages will go out.
Of course, -Lance-, you can and should still go ahead and send the remaining six. This is not a barrier for *your* end of things.

Agreed, I just need the info from 5 of the remaining 6. Brazenwood has contacted me and we've worked out a suitable reimbursement for both sides and I got his address. I still need the following users to contact me so I can work out reimbursement and make sure I have the correct addresses.

I'll wait a few more days, but it none of them post with complaints I'm going to mark these trades off as no longer disputed. Guys, please let us know that you've received. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

| Hey guys, Samstephenson500 here. Package recieved. I genuinely (can't spell) believe that Lance has tried to make up for whatever it was that transpired. | Just got done moving to Bellingham. I am on AIM with my friend who moved into the the place I lived at. She said there was a half opend box with a Beholder in it. So, fair enough for me. I'd have rather gotten all the minis back, but at this point, I'm damn tired of it all. :)
