| Please tell me that this guy is a joke?! Not willing to trade with somebody who has less trades than themselves? I would love to know who this person is. From what you have described is an insult, and why bother trading or dealing with this guy? We all trade here on the basis of trust, obviously this person does not have that. For me personally I wouldn't trade with this guy that you have described. | | Gehenna | |

| | I probably wouldn't want to deal with a guy that knew so little of the DDM world outside of his own group. And, yes champ, I'd trade with you no questions asked simul-send, even if you've never done an online trade. | | Over 270 successful online DDM trades. | |

| if given the chance i would trade with you in a second, just so i could tell people "see this mini it was owned by the world champ, but now i own it"
i have encountered people like this before and i bet they are a scammer themselves.
i have 50 successful trades and i wouldn't even think to ask you to send first | | Trades: Complete: 134 Ongoing: 1 BAD: 2 = Cha0tic g0od, Thor <--- thief and a liar Champion of the Aspect of Yeenoghu, Demon Prince of Gnolls and Bigby

| It makes no sense that he is buying from you but wants you to send the merchandise first. It is a sale, not a trade. There are so many ways he could stop payment and defend himself in case of a scam, which will not happen of course. On sales, send the money first always, no arguments.
Perhaps this person doesn't really know who you are or doesn't believe that celebrities should be treated any different than the common low-trading level person.
I personaly think it is stupid and unfair and I would trade with you in a second. Move on to someone else Kiddoc, not worth the headache. | | Trades >> Completed: 49 | Bad: Ø | Pending: 0 | Trade & talk Live on IRC! SERVER: irc.psionics.net CHANNEL: #maxminis

| Well, now since it is a purchase, it's unambiguous: no tickee, no washee. Or more to the point: no moneys, no minis. You wouldn't ask a seller on eBay, even a total newbie, to send first.
As far as trading goes, heck, *I'd* trade with ya, champ, but please try and understand that some may be reluctant to trade with somebody without a track record, even if he is a "celebrity." Try not to take it personally; for some, it's just a numbers game.

Yeah, I hear what you're saying Jim (particularly after the whole CG incident), but even after I provided this guy with phone numbers (that can be verified) and addresses that also could be verified, and links to my work with WoTC, he was still insistent that I send first *boggle*... And while I definately understand that lots of people have no clue who I am and (rightly so) that carries no weight with them, I do think I went a long way toward providing him with other verifiable information, particularly given that this is a sale, and he's offering to buy the miniatures from me. I'm hoping that showing him this thread will do the trick. If not, I'll have to find another buyer. | | POST DISCLAIMER: Above post may contain humor. Now with micro scrubbing bubbles. | | Always follow your gut. If you feel that the trade is bad then you are probaly correct. I've been scammed before (never on a trade in DDM's thankfully, but on a online game. The person was a very high lv and he needed gold to buy an item to give me for a trade. He took off with the gold...) because I didnt follow my gut. Besides the point you are well known when it comes to minis and he should realize that it will hurt your rep more than you will gain for scamming him.

| Lemme get this straight, the guy wants to buy your minis, but doesn't want to pay you.
You don't walk into Target, take home your stuff, and THEN come back to pay.
You don't go to the car dealership, drive your car home (in most cases) then come back in a week or two and figure out the price.
You don't attend a University and pay once your degree is complete.
I wouldn't trust the guy, personally. But, if you do, make sure you send with Signature Confirmation, and make him pay for that, too. He should appreciate it since he's the one with concerns about actually receiving the goods.
As far as trading goes, I'm open to dealing with you, Kiddoc. You are probably one of the few guys around that I'd trade with no questions asked. And, yes, when dealing with less-experienced traders I usually request that they send first. Since I'm pretty low-volume, that means that anyone with fewer trades has yet to really establish him/her self. I once traded with an individual (I don't rememeber who, and it really wouldn't be appropriate to disclose here) who had tons of positive reference on ebay. Well, ebay is ebay and maxminis is maxminis, but we worked it out.
I appreciate caution, but sometimes things just "stink". | | Champion of the Werewolf Lord, Knight of Anything Duergar, and Squire of Things Gnollish List reset with the start of previews for each new set...got Chainmail®?

| Don't do it. I'm the most self-protective, cautious trader I've encountered, and I'd never be asking you to send first given phone numbers, reputation, etc.
I would trade with you based on reputation, without particularly checking the trade count. I can understand that peoples' faith may be a bit shaken at the moment, but if money's involved, the buyer sends first. Period.

| My 2 cents on this.......
Honestly, you could probably walk right up to me and I would have no clue who you were (unless it was a con and you had a badge ;)), but if I was working a trade with you I would have no problem with me sending first and if I was buying from ANYONE, I would expect them not to send until they had cash in hand.

| You're unquestionably legit.
In an online sale, I've never had anyone ask me to send the minis before receiving payment. It's just not the way these sorts of transactions work. | | Have: Cat; Want: Storm Giant Champion of Anything Dragonlance Before trading, please check the Disputed Trades Thread

| I'm one of those for whom celebrity status means nothing when it comes to making a deal. I want to see a reputation built up through successful transactions.
That said, I am certain that Kiddoc wouldn't jeopardize his status by failing to make good on a deal. So, I'd probably trade with little hesitation.
The guy in question, however, has clearly got something going on. As many people have already stated, you NEVER get the goods before forking over the cash.

| I would gladly trade with Kiddoc. I have done so in person (I think I did anyway, at Winter Fantasy, 2004).
Kiddoc has also organized DDM play in public forums (the original MaxMini's Tournament at GenCon 2004), and having nearly killed himself in playing Nationals, no one would have questioned him had he bailed on the whole thing. Instead he helped provide prize support, and boosters to the attendee's.
Kiddoc has also organized play at the local store in NJ... Kiddoc: can you provide your buyer with the store manager as a reference?
