I'm afraid not really... I forgot to post that earlier is better than later, and I have to work Wednesday morning. Does 7 P.M. CDT on Wednesday work? If not, no problem; I'm sure that we can work something out later in the week.

AngryIrish versus Orcmonk

Winning Player: AngryIrish (125 points)
Vad's Warband: Vadania, Zippo the Long, Denton the Gray, Longstrider, Wild elf raidx2, elf warriorx2, wolf minion
Experience Gained: 1000
Leveling: Vad gains SPL +1, and gets +5hp and another casting of snakes swift[]
Lieutenant XP: 500 to Zippo the Long
Lieutenant leveling options (if any): Zippo Levels and gains +1 level, +10HP's and +1attack
Magic item gained: +1 armor of animal handling
Magic item lost (if any): N/A

Losing Player: OrcMonk (59 points)
Dillon's Warband: Dillon, Justice Arch, Rhek, artificer, hill dwarfx3, dwarf merc Support: caravan guardx3, dwarf merc
Experience gained: 250
Warlord's leveling options (if any): N/A
Magic item gained: +1 shield
Magic item lost (if any): n/a

This one came right down to the end. Started off by sending both striders to assasinate the cleric. They failed in their first attempt, as only 1 hit. Then they were swarmed by dwarves who took one down to a MC, which the strider saved on. The next round, they managed to take out Dillon, after he made his MC, putting his whole band ooc for the rest of the match. Meanwhile, Vad and Denton had set up shop in a Hall of Heroes, along with some elf warriors. Using the warriors and eventually herself, Vad and Denton were able to hold off the approach of the archon, who had left the main force behind. The first longstrider died due to a rhek, but her deathstrike brought it to a MC, which he passed with either a 20 or somethin insane like that. Then the other strider took the rhek down to 10 hp, but was forced into a check, and failed. That fail was probably the saving grace of the game. Only 1 Aoo hit, and the strider ended up very far away, and still in sight of Vad. He then rallied and took out the archon. After, the rest of his band closed on mine. He was able to take the longstrider to 5HP and Vad down to 10 HP, with a merc, a HDW and caravan guard left. Denton took out the HDW and made the merc run, giving me enough for the win.

How late is ok to play? Wednesday night I'm playing TKort. Thursday night I can't play until at least 10 PM. On Friday, I should be able to play a little earlier. Saturday I will be out of town. Let me know what works.

Madrox and Clank met on a tight battlefield of walled rooms. An owlbear made her nest in one...

1. Clank (Pot of DR), Jengal - Halfling Vet, Warforged Fighter, 2* Justice Archons (One w/ Cold Armor), Rubble Assm, Mushroom Tangle, Treasure Room, Torture Chamber
2. 1000 XP gained, Clank moves to 3500 XP (+1 Lvl, +1 Att, +10 HP, + Wild Talent: Defensive Precognition)
3. 500 XP to Slim, Justice Archon
4. 500 XP total, no level
5. Med +1 Ghost Touch Weapon
6. none
6a. 100 VP

7. Orc Druid (+1 armor of bigstepping, +1 weapon of ghost touch), Fiendish Praying Mantis x2 (potion of charging [][] on first one), Troglodyte, SUPPORT: ethereal filcher. Rubble assembly, treasure room, torture chamber, shrine
8. 250 gained
9. 1500 XP total, no level
10. Minor Scroll of Enlarge
11. Used 1 dose of Charging Potion
11a. 11 VP

12. The battlefield was a series of small rooms with a shrine just south of the Owlbear's den. Both parties sprinted toward the shrine, but Clank's band did not let the owlbear know they were there. Clank heard the bear and put his brave dwarf between it and his band. The Archons moved into position to reach any of Madrox's army the next time they moved.

The bear struck the dwarf and after two attempts, Clank stopped him from running. The Archons acted quickly and took advantage of Madrox's bravery. Both were able to fly in and hit him. The Druid quickly abandoned his large bugs and fled. The filcher had a very hard time since the Outsider Archons and the Warforged were not humanoids or monsterous humanoids.

The owlbear landed three attacks on one mantis, the third sent it running thanks to a blow in the middle by Clank. The Archons teamed up on the other, killing it. At this point the band of evil surrendered to the band of good.

As Clank left the field of battle, he felt a strange feeling in his head...

Good game to AesophDarkfable. I gave the Mantis a try with Unger, the Orc Druid. The result was the same, a very quick defeat. Now we both know what happens. To all who plan to play Madrox, you won't see a Mantis!

TKort Vs Bleed Black

Well Bleed Black and I were finally able to play by connecting directly (Which answers my above question about whether or not that works :)) and finish up our game in a reasonably timely fashion. If you're into watching log files, this one was fairly fun, with lots of back and forth and many tense moments.. also it's a reasonably small game (50 points, no magic items to speak of) so it plays pretty quick. Anyways, here is the nitty gritty, with some fluff :)

Winning warlord's warband experience gained: Inspiring Marshal “Valius”; Graycloak Ranger “SlimShadee” (wolf “Boo”); Ialdabode, Human Psion; Tiles: Assembly tile 4, Ancient Temple, Rock Shrine, Spike Stone Cave
Gain 1000 XP (1500 CP)
Warlord's leveling options (if any): +1 lvl (+1 att, +10 hp)
Lieutenant XP, and who it is going to: 500xp to SlimShadee (Graycloak Ranger)
Lieutenant leveling options (if any): no
Magic item gained: Wondrous Item: Lute of Withdrawal (better than I initially thought :) )
Magic item lost (if any):

Losing warlord's warband: Mindflayer, nothic, blue(+1 weapon), Tiles, Rumble Assembly, magic cirlce shrine, hall of heroes, Mushroom tangle
Experience gained: 250
Warlord's leveling options (if any): Zor'Vahkial gains 1st level (+1 att, +10hp)
Magic item gained: +1 armor of Proof against Poison
Magic item lost (if any): +1 weapon (trade up)
Battle Report:

I had a great time in this game, thanks again Bleed Black! The Owlbear was a HUGE factor in our game, dealing out a good 40 maybe 50 points of damage, in a 50 point game that is a tonne!

Valius’ band had the definite advantage in terms of ranged attacks, but the big Bear in the middle of the room screwed that up most of the time, until the last couple of rounds. Ialdabode made a big difference in this game as I have found he does in most of my games, and of course the GCR laid down some solid damage as well.

I won the first couple of Owlbear rolls and it laid out first blood on BB’s Mindflayer, it was starting to look pretty grim. Within a round or two both his Commander and Nothic were running for the door at 10hps each. But at the end of that round he won the Owlbear roll and based my commander (dealing 10 points in the process, but luckily Valius made morale) . Next round I tried to lay some damage on the bear (that was still at a robust 40 hps, having taken 10 damage in the spike stone cave it started out in), and did, but didn’t kill it. Not only that, but both routing guys made their morale saves and stayed. Of course then BB proceeded to win ANOTHER Owlbear roll, and it loomed large over poor Valius. But a miracle shone on the young commander today, as the bear miraculously missed it’s first attack. The second attack landed but he was able to withstand the blow, counting his blessings for not being trapped in the certain death of a bearhug from that brute.

The following round Valius’ forces finally triumphed over the marauder and were able to turn the tables on the Mindflayer’s rallying troops. A brief skirmish ensued, with a final initiative win by Valius deciding the final result of the battle. In the end only SlimShadee’s poor wolf Boo had been killed, by the vile and surprisingly powerful (two 20’s in a row) Blue; though next activation would have seen the frightened Ialdabode reach the exit too. Valius proclaimed SlimShadee his first lieutenant, as he could not bring himself to name Ialdabode to the position since he was running for the door as the victory blows were being struck far behind him. And there was much rejoicing.

REPORT: Richard(LE) vs. Zippy(LE)
Zippy (LE) VP = 228 (101.3%), Richard II (LE) VP = 167 (74.2%)

Winning Warlord: Warchief Krawd (Zippy/LE)
Krawd's Warband: Krawd, Ignavus, Forix, Pedes, Efreeti, Azer, Direguard, Chraal, Nothic
Warlord XP: +1000 XP / +1500 CP
Warlord Leveling: +1 Level (8th), +10HP, +1 Att, +1CR
Lieutenant: 500 XP to Caligo the Direguard
Lieutenant Leveling: none
Magic Item Gained: (Med) +1 Flaming Melee Weapon
Magic Item Lost: None

Losing Warlord: Brother Grim (Richard II/LE)
Grim's Warband: Brother Grim, Nox, 2 x Chraal, 2 x Gauth, 2 x Azer, Support = Dark Moon Monk, 2 x Skeleton Warrior
Warlord XP: +250 XP / +250 CP
Warlord Leveling: none
Magic Item Gained: (Med) +1 Keen Melee Weapon
Magic Item Lost: (Min) Potion of Protection [x][] traded in

Summary

Krawd surveyed the battleground with great trepedation. He'd hand picked his platoon based on a scout report of owlbears in the area. Knowing they would block incoming fire from Gauths or beholders, both of which he expected Brother Grim to field, long enough to close with the enemy. His daft scout was wrong - no owlbears here (grr FORGOT the scenario, DUH! mutually decided not to restart) - he'd have to face Grim without wandering the aberrations as cover. Brother Grim entered, pleased with what he surveyed. An open central area perfect to embroil Krawd's team in melee while the dual gauths in tow set up as artillery pieces.

Grim's team went to work with planned efficiency, installing the ring gates, Grim summoning the usual host of undead augmented with his summoning prowess, Nox moving forward to direct melee, and the monk buffing minotaur skeleton attacks. The gauths began to slide up. Krawd meanwhile piled up troops to spill out at once in an attempt to overwhelm the enemy. Pedes, Ignavus, and the efreeti swung up from below while the other half dozen of Krawd's forces moved in from above.

Things did not go well. Ignavus was surrounded, the gauths began blasting away, and Brother Grim had prepared for the rush and took initiative (over and over and over). Krawd's Chraal was blasted before it could take effect, and nearly killed the nothic as it died in a frosty plume. Krawd realized the only solution was eliminating gauths, so paired up with the Caligo the direguard and sprinted to the nearest gauth. Meanwhile the efreeti, nothic, and Forix the ogre faired poorly in the ongoing mass melee.

Krawd found himself with only Caligo remaining on the field, as they were rounding up the last of the gauths who unfailingly hit hard with fire blasts. Krawd had even been stunned by one eye blast, prolonging the roundup. In came Nox, one minotaur skeleton, a fresh chraal (fortunately without ice breath remaining), and Brother Grim in command just as the last gauth was about to fall.

Nox and the chraal sandwiched Krawd, while the direguard moved to flank Nox in return. The undead minotaur charged in. Fortunately, Krawd's high AC coupled with the blurring amulet prevented most hits from connecting. Grim cursed Krawd to reduce his defenses slightly. In response, Krawd who was halfway to the grave decided to intensify his quickness and attacks. He laid into Nox with vigor, and his newly developed 3rd swing landed critically, while other blows in his flurry connected with decent impact. Nox's health dropped like a stone.

In a last attempt, with Krawd now one blow from death, the minotaur skeleton and chraal both struck at Krawd, while neither connected. Krawd's response was to lay Nox out, freeing the chraal from his bond to the material plane, and follow up with the remainder of his flurry on the easy skeleton target, toppling it swiftly. Brother Grim was forced to bolt off - out of spells and facing Krawd and Caligo alone.

Richard played an absolutely excellent game. It's hard to say who had the luck - Richard rolled a number of 1's, but not at critical moments. Krawd lost most initiatives, but at the very end rolled a momemtus crit on Nox. Few actual mistakes were made. This game was close, and if replayed might go either way.

The luck was pretty even I think. It's just that your good luck (or maybe my bad) came later in the game. But I certainly won more inits in the middle rounds of melee combat then I should've, although you won them late.

In retrospect I maybe should've gone with spell progression levels on BG. A RoE for Krawd or a scorching ray would've been really handy last night.

But the minotaur missing the charge at +19 and then the crit on Nox was the beginning of the end. It was frightening how quickly Krawd blazed through Nox's HP.

That was a seriously long game. Granted we had some technical difficulties, but I don't think it ate up that much time. But 5 hours for a game is a loooong time.

I think it was merely +17, but a minotaur skeleton should NEVER have +17 for 20 magic damage, it's plain wrong.

(+6base +1MW +2mag circ +4CE +2charge +2flank)

Rolled something like a 4 or so. Last best hope gone. Silly me I thought he did have RoE, and played as he did, then when he pulled the CoiB, i wiped sweat from my brow.

Silly thing is the Medium weapon I got is way better than the Major one I've been using. Also forgot to use my new cleave feat once, darn.

Vassal Direct Connection DOES WORK.

Open Vassal, report the IP Vassal gives you to your opponent (email) and stay in Vassal.

To connect: Open Vassal and in the direct connect dialogue box, enter the IP you got via email, including at the end the ":5050" - adding this port number is very important.

Double check you typed it correctly, then DO NOT HIT ENTER, click the "invite" button instead. Now WAIT - don't keep typing and clicking stuff. Just walk away for a minute or two.

Viola, and the direct connection is way faster / no lag and stall issues as long as your internet connection is good.

Did you guys finish via direct connect?
Adept and I must have tried for 30 mins to no avail
is Vassal back up?
I can't tell you how bad it sucks to have Vassal crap out at
an intense moment in a match and then be forced to reschedule
for the next night.

I calculated it at +17, but I realized as I was getting ready for bed that I'd left something out, not sure which +2 I forgot.

6 (base)+2(charge)+2(flanking)+2(feat, augmented summoning)+2(magic circle)+1(MW)+4(commander effect)=19

Either way what I rolled woulda missed I think. Although I have no intention of looking at the log and seeing that I'd rolled a 6 or something that would've hit. That would just suck. [:)]

All in all a very memorable game.

Well I of course HAD to check the logs, HAD to know:

Charge, rolled 3 (miss)
Next round, the big one, for the game, 48.75% chance to connect, rolled a 6, but no charge bonus means 6+17 = miss

+19 for 20 magic damage is so very wrong on a minotaur skeleton.
