Welcome to the Eternal Campaign's Hall of Fame

To nominate a warlord for the Hall of Fame, please post your nomination in this thread as well as a short narrative of the warlord's accomplishments. Feel free to nominate your own warlords, as you will know best what your warlord has accomplished

There are two ways to become eligible for the Hall of Fame:
1. Accomplish something unique withing the campaign (e.g. most consecutive weeks played, first warlord to....), or
2. Meet one of the automatic conditions:
- Level 9+ and Retired (this level limit will rise in the future), or
- Highest level warlord ever! (11...Bertha, that's you)
- Win a tournament

Brother Grim
Creature: Grim Necromancer
Player: Richerd II (LE)
The Story of Brother Grim the Grim Necromancer

In the 11th week of the Eternal Campaign a new force appeared. Brother Grim had mastered the rudiments of the dark arts of necromancy, and he was ready to embark on his journey in search of ever more powerful magic. His first opponent was an elven cleric of Corellon Larethian (keethor_smash (CG)). Brother Grim had never like clerics. He considered them weak for their dependence on their god. The only thing Brother Grim depended on was himself. BG brought with him an undead hound and a shambling zombie. At the start of the battle BG performed the dark ritual that would bring forth his towering bodyguard, a minotaur skeleton, as well as a second zombie. The massive minotaur skeleton proved too much for the cleric of corellon and BG won the field and his experience brought with it new insights into the dark arts.

Brother Grim faired less well in his next battle, losing to a drow wizard. He learned something important in this battle though. Even though his undead minions were no longer living they were still important, and he needed to make sure not to throw them away needlessly.

In his third battle, Brother Grim formed a bond that was ultimately to lead to great deal of his success. A young woman trained in the intracacies of martial combat arrived at his tower and offered to serve him. Nox would become a powerful force for BG, but alas their first combat together ended in a loss as Brother Grim was surprised by a swiftly moving half giant. In the end nox was almost able to carry the day, but before the silly elven bladesinger died she'd used a nasty spell to leech away a lot of nox's strength, and the half giant was able to defeat nox, but not before nox was able to slay the bladesinger.

BG faired better in his next two battles defeating Alric the not so Glorious and Urthok the Destroyed, but then he ran into a Paladin of Heironeous. Darn do gooders. BG had brought with him a beholder, but the eye tyrant didn't listen to BG and fled the battlefield after receiving some chastisement from the followers of Sally the Sword of Heironeus.

At this point in his career, Brother Grim's record stood at a pedestrian 3 wins and 3 losses, and he went on a long hiatus to gain some more insight into the workings of undeath (actually, my computer broke and i needed to get a new one).

BG returned in week 25 to face off against Garrett Hilltop, the Cleric of Yondalla. What was it with all these dogooding clerics and paladins getting in BG's way? BG's warriors carried the day in this one, with his red wizard cohort and deathlock followers magic missiling their way through the hard to hit LG monks (YM, LFM, SSI x3). The turning point came towards the end when BG had 5 HP left and one of his minotuars charged the flying cleric of yondalla delivering massive blow with it's axe for 35 damage, which caused the cleric o flee for it's life only to be burned to ash by the red wizard's fireball. (Yay, I actually go to beat tullywi, the only time ever I think).

In his next match, BG met the undefeated warchanter Thom Waits, and with a sneaky use of the scare spell, Nox was able to rush in and slay the warchanter at which point BG's undead minions had an easy time of cleaning out the rest of Thom's warband to throw thom from the ranks of the undefeated.

In his third game back from his study period BG faced off against another Grim Necromancer; Kane, by name; in a race to the statues. Kane brought three green dragons while BG only brought one and this caused BG some problems. However, he went all out after kane, and managed to sneak a minotaur skeleton to base Kane. The skeleton killed Kane, banishing Kane's summons, and reducing the green dragons to speed 2 allowing BG's band to finish them off.

BG managed to defeat oldcoast's orc sargeant for his 4 win in a row, and in week 29 he arrived at the battlefield to find it deserted. BG shrugged, looted the ancient keep, and moved on.

Week 30, Brother Grim faced off against Elivra the Drow Wizard, but BG had a trick up his sleeve. He had recruited two beholders to fight with him, and with the power he'd gained since the last time he'd joined forces with the eye tyrants, the beholders respected BG enough to follow his commands. Their antimagic eye rays shut down Elvira's powers and their flesh to stone power proceeded to wreak havoc with the orcs.

Week 31 was a week to remember as it was BG's first confrontation with Krawd the Vicious. Krawd emerged victorious, ending BG's six game winning streak. BG had taken a couple of non caster levels for some extra hp, and that proved to bit him in his bony ass this week. Krawd was down to 15 HP, but BG was outta spells. A charging minotaur skeleton at +19 was unable to hit krawd for the necessary damage, and krawd was able to kill Nox (getting rid of the chraal) and cleaving into the minotaur. Silly krawd with 4 attacks. [:P] This left just BG up against krawd, and even with only 15 HP krawd was more then a match for a spelless BG, so BG accepted defeat to the mighty Krawd, but vowed that their next meeting would end differently.

BG then lost in week 32 to Garrett Hilltop the cleric of yondalla when Nox forgot to protect the gauth from the slaying bow of doom. I've played Garrett twice since he got that weapon and both times failed the slaying save. Apparently I'm also the only one that's ever failed that save. [:P] This was the semi final of a tournament, so I was a bit dissappointed to lose, but my dislike for the dragon's hoard map more or less dates from this game, the first time I'd ever played on it iirc. But BG would come back stronger then ever after this loss, and would not lose another game.

BG went on to defeat Gorn the Skullsplitter, Bertha the Dwarf Sargeant and Elvira the Drow Wizardess for a second time before the long awaited rematch with Krawd. I swarmed Krawd with 3 efreeti on the astral plane, and tried my best to avoid that crazy sonic cone from the steel predator. In the end BG emerged victorious by the skin of his teeth, having like 5 HP left and a dreadguard with full HP and efreeti with 10 HP.

BG then took a bit of a break for 5 weeks, and returned in week 42 to defeat Bertha for the 2nd time. He then defeated Thom Waits for the second time, after which Thom retired in shame, followed by three more victories over Bertha in the next 10 weeks as well as victories over eternal_boson (gave up 81 support troops, hasted fomorians are baaaaaad), Silent G (LE) (another 81 support troops, hurray for fire giants with hasted weapons failing morale), Rodus the Copper Samurai (helmed horrors, levelled chraals, and leveled thayan knight have A LOT of hp).

With his victory over Bertha in week 54 BG became the first 10th level caster warlord, and upon his retirement in week 55 he was the winnngest warlord ever with 21 victories. Nox took up the lead of BG's minions as Grim went on a journey, but things weren't the same without him. Nox pined for his return, and in the 62nd week of the EC BG returned to his tower to rejoin his friends. Part of the reason for his journey was to think things through, and upon his return he asked Nox to become his wife and she accepted. Narolg Foehammer and Soontobe the Chraal witnessed the wedding which was performed by a Cleric of Wee Jas, Goddess of Magic and Death. Brother Grim had started out not trusting anyone or anyting but his own power, but at the end, all of his lieutenants from Narolg to Soontobe, and especially Nox, were trusted members of his cabal.

Mhir the Peacemaker
Creature: Urthok the Vicious
Player: Mhir (LE)
Mhir the Peacemaker came out of the gates of the Eternal Campaign forcing his peace across the Land. He took home Corona Imperadoxa by winning the Inaugural Tournament and has continued his reign on the campaign undefeated since. The Peacemaker was the first warlord to reach level 9 in the Warlord Prestige Class, and the first warlord to surpass 20,000 campaign points.
[minixml][/minixml]

Nevan
Creature: Cleric of St. Cuthbert
Player: jjbeezer (LG)
Nevan grew up around the Temple of St. Cuthbert. It was only natural for him to enter the priesthood when he reached the required age. After years of service in the temple, he was allowed to go on a few adventures with other St. Cuthbert worshipers. This prepared him for years later, his 55th birthday, when he heard a call from St. Cuthbert himself.

Nevan knew the call was real. The promise he received was if he lead troops into battle, St. Cuthbert would give him Vengeance over his enemies! Things started very slowly for Nevan. Three successive defeats did not deter him from his quest. It was then when Nevan realized how to harness the Vengeance of St. Cuthbert.

Quickly Nevan realized that sending weak troops into battle in the front lines brought greater power to his main army. This strategy lead to a string of four victories in a row. Jengal became Nevan’s first Lieutenant, and a strange living construct became his second.

The living construct, a Warforged Fighter named Clank, showed great promise to Nevan. However, Nevan became a brutal leader, sending troops into battle only to gain St. Cuthbert’s Vengeance. Nevan lost focus on winning and only sought the Vengeance of St. Cuthbert. The powerful Clank could not pick up the slack for Nevan’s reckless leadership.

After a few more battles, Nevan’s Lieutenant Clank developed the skills to help Nevan lead the troops into battle. Nevan was getting very old (for leading troops), and his injuries did not heal as quickly. He decided to take a long amount of time off. After a long rest, Nevan decided to give battling one more try. Before they headed off, Nevan told Clank he was proud of him, and if something were to happen to him, he would like Clank to take over the troops.

Week 22 of the Eternal Campaign arrived and Nevan lead his troops into battle looking for the Quick Boon. However, St. Cuthbert was ready to call his cleric home, and Nevan died in the battle. Clank sadly took Nevan’s body back to the Temple where he had begun his career of service to St. Cuthbert. Nevan’s troops went into mourning for two months after the funeral.

After that time of mourning, Clank met a man, an artificer that St. Cuthbert himself had instructed two months ago to begin building a special eye for a construct. He installed the eye in Clank. Now Clank could see concealed things, and with his instruction, his fellow troops had no problem finding them either. This new ability inspired the troops, and Clank led his new Lieutenant, Jengal, and the others into battle again!

Nevan had 6 wins. In all six, one of his Lts survived. This gave him a level 1 Jengal the Halfling Vet and a Level 2 Clank the Warforged Fighter. My count showed he lost 8 battles, but his XP and Campaign points show only 6 losses. Since all his games were EC V1 games, he missed out on the Toughness feat at level 3 that I would take with Nevan now. Nevan was the first to promote a Lieutenant to Warlord and thus he is included in the Hall of ame.

Mystique
Creature: Bladesinger
Player: tullywi (CG)
Called by the Elves to defend their homeland from the vicious Mhir the Peacemaker, Mystique the Bladesinger stepped from the woodlands for the 11th week of the Eternal Campaign. As she was dispatching a series of opponents during what would be called the Mouzer Tournament, "B" Pool, she kept her eye on Mhir and her good friend Ruin (the Cleric of Lathander) in the "A" Pool. As Mystique dispatched Urthok the Destroyer (a cousin of Mhir the Peacemaker) in her tournament championship, she learned that Mhir had just ended the campaign career of Ruin. Gaining the artifact the Iron Flask, whose powers were reputed to capture creatures from the Outer Planes, was little consolation for the loss of her close friend.

With new resolve, Mystique went on to win her next 5 matches over such foes as Krawd (another cousin of Mhir), Bertha the Dwarf Sergeant, and Valyssa d'Brilliance the Sword of Heironeous. It was during these matches that she became feared for dropping a fireball on the opposing warband before they knew the battle had begun. Rarely spotted without her twin Medium Astral Construct bodyguards, Mystique's reputation grew with each conquest.

In her 10th battle, Mystique's world came crashing down. She had stumbled upon a band of Xeph Soulknives who thought they had seen some prize Boars entering some caverns. Trusting to the strength of the Xephs, she followed them into the darkness. When she found out that Bertha the Dwarf Sergeant was also after the Boars, she confidently with held her fireball to allow the glory to go to her Xephs. Unfortunately for her, Bertha remembered how much devastation Mystique could cause and decided to pay her back. Killing the first Boar from under the nose of Mystique, Bertha found the 2nd Boar in the middle of her own troupes. She killed that one before Mystique spotted it. Due to the campaign scenario, Mystique had just lost her first campaign match. The following week, Mystique was stunned to hear that Mhir was spotted leaving the campaign. Denied her goal, Mystique struggled on through the campaign.

Week 13 of the Eternal Campaign became the turning point for Mystique's career. By this point she was very strong and was facing Valyssa d'Brilliance the Sword of Heironeous, an opponent whom she had already defeated. Being so strong, Mystique lead her troupes from the front line. Fearlessly, she placed herself in front of the rest of her troupes. Unfortunately for her, Eberk, an opposing dwarf, had cast a Spiritual Weapon on her that was blessed by the Gods. She moved once and the godly weapon hit her with such force that shedied.

Brought back to life by the power of the Eternal Campaign, Mystique decided she was concentrating too much on magic. She needed to get back to the basics of combat. Before going back into training, she decided to repay Bertha for her first loss. Several weeks later, with a new spell called Fire Shield and a new found belief that she was untouchable in both magic and combat, she returned to again defeat Mhir's cousin Krawd in combat. Mystique ended her Eternal Campaign career by resoundly defeating Valyssa d'Brilliance. Besides being a fierce opponent, Valyssa is probably best known for her use of an Eversmoking Bottle. For this final battle, Mystique contacted a few of her old Archmage friends who brought cloaks that allowed them to see through the fog. Taken completely by surprise with these Archmages, Valyssa conceded the match. Being denied combat with Mhir and having already defeated the remaining top warlords, Mystique decided to retire from the Eternal Campaign with a final record of 14-2.

Krawd
Creature: Urthok the Vicious
Player: Zippy (CE)
From humble beginnings, still naive on rules and basics, Krawd raised a green wyrmling to follow in his footsteps.

Krawd would have happily been a cog in the machine, but the machine of the world around him was disordered and unpredictable. There can be no peace, harmony, or civility with entropy so oft afoot. Krawd in his youth learned to command, to combat, to control. His inevitable calling was to step forward and create a harmony of structured society, carving it with blood if needed, from the denizens of the land.

It all began againstan Inspiring Marshall and his Axe sister Sidekick, Krawd's antithesis, individualistic free-spirited aberrants. His handful of followers at the time came to the field to prove their loyalty. In the end his followers proved weak, so he destroyed the marshall in personal combat. Krawd's superior control under distress saw him through to victory, launching his 10 level career.

Cat Benatar
Creature: Catfolk Wilder
Player: AesophDarkfable (CG)
The Nine Lives of Cat Benatar:
Cat began her rise to stardom with a bang. Her first week of action was against an Inspiring Marshall and his collection of Goliaths on the field of battle where no one could die, they kept coming back from the dead again and again. She blasted those rock men to death repeatedly and proved to be the MVP for the day. Towards the middle of her career she became much more effective as a unit to be feared than actually effective. She often wore her Ethereal Armor which she rarely takes off and was able to get anywhere to at least threaten commanders. That mixed with the flaming burst weapon she often carried meant she could often do a crucial 20 damage where she needed it. Oddly enough since she has gotten her new powers she has only used her Cold Ray once and hasn't got a chance to use her Push at all. She is currently licking her wounds from her first loss since she struck out on her own, becoming the first psionic warlord, but she is looking forward to all the new psionic goodies she can get and these enemies will rue the day the crossed the cat.

As someone who's played multiple games against him, I'm going to have to nominate Krawd the Vicious as the first EC warlord reach 10th level.

The combination of krawd's toughness, zippy's skill, and krawd's items make him extremely difficult to defeat. You need roughly 4x krawd's point cost just to deal with Krawd himself, nevermind the henchmen he brings with him.

Wow, that was Alric all that time ago. I remember that match well, and ever since then, I always whirlwind attack counterclockwise. Had I done it that way back when, who knows how the demoralizing debut loss would've effected Krawd. Maybe he'd be as crappy as Alric is... [B)]

One of these days Urthok the Destroyer will inject himself into this Hall of Fame! He does have the notoriaty of being the only warlord to have a second place finish in a tournament with a losing record!

I don't think so. Mhir the Peacemaker never lost a game iirc. Not sure how many wins that was, but more then 13 I think. Then again, judging by his exp he did lose somewhere along the line.

EDIT: Mhir won his first 17 games, dying only once for a total of 24,750 campaign points at week 20 before he lost, and the loss may have been a result of not being able to schedule.

Mhir did not lose any matches. I know for sure Mhir the commander was killed twice. I did it once and Takasi did it once. I believe towards the end of his career, he was given 250 experience from a forfeit. I have his last week in the EC as week 21. From week 11 to 21 he only missed one week (outside of the forfeit that I know about).

For the record, my agreement with Saliqui being entered into the HoF was for at retirement. Right now she has the qualifications to be in the HoF. She just needs to retire and wait 5 years (oh, that is football and baseball) or win a tournament.

Nevan was the first to promote a Lieutenant to Warlord and thus he is included in the Hall of Fame.

And so the bar to reach the Hall of Fame is raised, as the new race for the first promoted warlord to achieve great distinuishment has begun!

Here's Krawd's stat card for his HOF entry:

Richard II's Brother Grim nominated upon his recent retirement:

See "Battle Scrolls" thread, Richard outlines his illustrious achievements better than I could.

Primary Qualification: Most winning warlord ever (21 total wins I think ?)

How about Saliqui, now that she is level 10? Can she get in?

She will qualify soon.

Thanks for the nomination. To me, BG's primary qualification was being the first spellcasting warlord to hit 10th level.

The winningest warlord ever was a nice touch, but is fairly simple for anyone that wants to to beat.

Brother Grim also managed to win 3 games in a row while giving up 81 support troops each week (I think, although one week might've only been 54) although he did die in one of the three games.
