hehe yeah never thought about that.. same-Faction Alliances throw the thing out of whack a bit hehe
So will the categories become meaningful for "Alliance Wars" ? If so we'll have to address the issue of who decides which alignment they fall under (Alliance members choice vs. Arbitrary admin assignment). Then again, at this point there is an overwhelming majority of Good alliances so alliance-based matchups might not work :).

Alliance Parties = 50pts only no matter how big your warlord is. If a player decides to try and intervene... They meet up with 50 pts of resistance.
Winning. Getting at least 1 figure across the map in order to ask for an alliance.
If a person does not wish to cooperate in the alliance.. They kill off those 50pts and the person who sent the party is now 50pts less in their next battle against the would-have-been ally.
I realize its more games and a bit more work but if we could get this down just right... Plus could be fun against "trade alliances" A person could send an interceptor party. To "steal" this magic item. If the raiding party fails. They are exposed and people can open war against them.
I'm just reading Homeland of the Drizzt Series. Could be interesting. Stolen Magic Items... Could be hard to keep track of these items but I'd be willing to keep tabs on it. | |

Sending his old friend Spookytooth to his allie Bertha with his precious bottle of eversmoke with a note attached to it. "Bertha, my strategies involve more range than they use to, I do not use much anymore. I think it might be more helpful to your armored legion than to mine. Send back your returning weapon in return and we shall both prove victorious."

"'Ere, take yer armor and fetch me down that magic blade. Thea says Gorn needs the armor and we need the blade. Hurry, go tell 'im, I gotta suit up for battle this eve!"

Bertha, having had to watch helplessly as Thom was defeated by their shared enemy, is not overly surprised by this request for trade. The smoking bottle is a powerful magic item, and one she has coveted in the past "That'll teach those blasted spell casters" she mutters to herself. The finely honed returning axe she has carried to many a battle is a fair trade for such a fine item, she fondly wraps it up and hands it back to the barbarian with a gruff farewell.

Writing down a formal letter in her best calligraphy, she promises peace and favorable trade with the folk of the woods.
Placing the folded letter in Windstriker's mouth, she instructs her war-pegasus "Take this to Seliq the Bladesinger at once. And don't eat it!"

Man did this thread ever drop down far.. it almost warrants a sticky but there are too many already :)
Two figures sit quietly in the shadows in "Ye Old Maxminis Taverne" over a mug of fine Dwarven Ale. Their conversation lost in the din of the evening crowd, ragged clothes shedding the glances of curious onlookers like oiled canvas sheds raindrops.
"Fine ale, Bertha." Says Thom Waits
"My cousin is well known throughout the Dwarven Kingdoms for his brewmastery, you'll find few better." The stout sergeant replies.
"So, why did you ask me here tonight, my friend?" Gushes Thom, his curiousity getting the better of him.
"I need your best armor... the one that allows you to shift through the ethereal planes while you move" Bertha states bluntly, having never stated anything any other way.
"Ahh.. I see, I'm sure we could arrange a loan. Might I ask why the urgent need?"
"That blasted Garret Hilltop. The fool cleric has been ordered to secure an old ruin in my ancestral lands. All talk has failed, and now we must do battle. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And I know I will not be able to beat him without some luck, and some powerful magic. That is why I have turned to you, Ally."
"Of course, Bertha, it will be my pleasure, best of luck to you! Ahh.. but there is.." Thom began
"Collateral." Interruped Bertha, "I know the custom. I will exchange my eversmoking bottle with you, as one of the rarer items I own, it should serve its purpose."
"Excellent, then my messenger should arrive late tomorrow, now, back to business!" Exclaimed Thom, pounding back the last of his mug and at the same time gesturing for the barmaid to bring another round.

| Alliance offer to Richard II (LG) from TheCloakedRanger (LE)
After a night of watching the newly appointed Cleric of Lathander threw his Necrotic Eye Apophis begins to write a note. Within the note Apophis trys to charm the Cleric with his powerful magic, knowing if the Cleric past the test he would definatly be a worthly partner. Good and Evil may seperate us he states within the note, but Law binds us as one agiants the Chaos of the realms.
Quickly after finishing the note Apophis binds the scroll with an enchantment so only Richard Brightmantle can open it. Once he is finished with the enchantment Apophis hands the newly bound scroll to Arlust his ever faithful Direguard to take give the scroll to Richard Brightmantles sanctuary. Upon reciving the scroll with strict instructions to go directly to Richard's sanctuary Arlust mounts himself upon his magical undead Nightmare and departs in haste.
As soon as Arlust arrives at the sanctuary he steps off his undead Nightmare and grabs the scroll from a pouch strapped to his steed and walks twords the gate. In an unearthly tone Arlust speaks to the guard of the sanctuary, "Here, give this note directly to Richard Brightmantle..tell him it is from a powerfull Necromancer but do not be afraid. Oh and dont try to peak, my master has sealed the scroll tightly with magic." After handing the note to the guard and knowing his shadowy form struck fear into the guardsmen's heart he got back on his Nightmare and headed for Apophis's cavernous chambers.

| Richard received the note somewhat skeptically, not being one to trust the living dead. As he read it, his mind became clouded, but Lathander's Light burned away the mindfog, as well as the note, in one cleansing burst of light.
As Richard's wits returned to him, he wondered how he could even possibly consider allying himself with such a corrupting force of evil such as the the evil necromancer. It was such as he that Lathander had charged him with defeating.
Sorry d00d, clerics of lathander really can't ally with Grim Necromancers. [:P] | |

| Proposal from Saliqui (Thecloakedranger CG) to Gharag II (Richard II CE)
"Lady Saliqui, I have returned with the notes on Gharag's recent battles," said Ferathul, Saliqui's spy. "Thank you, please set them on the table and leave me," replied Saliqui. "Yes Saliqui," said Ferathul as he set the note on the table and quickly left the room.
After studying the notes her ranger had left her Saliqui sent a message to Lady Adrania telling her that the alliance must come to a end if she does not start fighting agian. Upon further investigation into Gharag the mightly Tiefling seems to have grown very strong over the past few months. "Sending a message for and alliance to this Avatar of Chaos will prove usefull to us both if Gharag accepts..," though Saliqui to herself.
With Lady Adrania inactive for quite a while Im starting to surpass her in level and seeing her as a pointless ally for the powerfull Saliqui. So if Richard accepts this ally proposal then I wish to BREAK the alliance between Lady Adrania and I in order for a more..worthy companion.
Its worth a try!

Well I figure by the time you get to what you plan on doing I will have Arlust up and running as a commander and have a Duergar Champ LT to take with him. So It will be better in the long run. | |

| Gharag II returns to his fortress in the Barren Wastes after defeating the goody goody paladin of heironeous, to find one of his minions has a letter. Gharag snatches the letter and begins to read. Upon finding that the letter comes from a silly elf, Gharag makes to crumple it up, but a dry rasping voice speaks from behind;
"Think my master," the voice of Kethith says as he recovers from his injuries on the plane of fire. "The elves have powerful magic. Ally with them, gain their magic, and then it will be that much easier to kill them later."
Gharag paused and a grim smile exposed his fangs, one of the signs of his demonic heritage, and nodded.
