A shield or armour option is an intersting idea. I'm indifferent. I don't mind the little boost it give LG =) EDIT: afterall, look at how few creatures they have to choose from! | |

Yeah Bertha's always laughed loudly over her massive arsenal as other warlords cry about their unusable items, but the proposed choose-able thing sortof makes sense.... btw is this selection made after everything is rolled (after power)?? (I'm asking for the current weapon rule as well as the proposed armor/shield thing). Since medium/major powers are all the same table regardless of what type of armor or other bit of clothing it is for, there is not really any difference if you roll armor or shield except that, as Zippy has pointed out, a huge chunk of the minis out there can't use the shield.

| Current weapon rule is the choice is make AFTER rolling for power.
Should be the same (and as TKort mentioned, Armor & Shield use same tables for power roll) for Armor and Shield choice.
If people want to keep armor and shield separate, I can propose new splits based on that, to reflect relative # of creatures who can use.
If this is a V3 change, that's absolutely fine, too, but let's iron out any desired changes and then have that discussion [:)]
Galneweinhaw, yes I have a comprehensive list complete, and would gladly send you (or anyone who wants it!) the complete table in whatever format you prefer (in Excel right now). I would really like to have extra opinions.
I planned to present the information starting with the most clear-cut discussions moving to the fuzziest. In the end, once we agree on how to determine body slots, I can update a master list (for those who do not have all stat cards) when each set is released. Then we can entertain specific creature disputes about body slots as they arise I imagine.
MHB ITEM USE RULES SUMMARY:
1) Any item that requires activation can be used by creatures with minimum 3 INT.Example: Medium Astral Construct cannot use my Drums of Panic as I originally plotted to do, INT="-"
2) Incorporeal Creatures cannot use any magic items.
3) Only creatures whose possessions list such an item can use Armor, Shield, Melee Weapon, or Ranged Weapon
4) [?]

| Thanks Zippy, I think the sooner we determine what the CURRENT rules are for the less obvious items like rings and cloaks and stuff the better... cus right now we only have vague guidlines.
Then if we want to customize some of those rules we can discuss that for V3 | |

The list is too large for posting here I think - is there a good way to host-n-post the file for publish use and consumption? | |

You might be able to upload it using the link in my sig... I can't remember if I filter the file extension for pictures or not =) or, if it's a small document, you can upload it to the log-files area, then post a link to it. | |

I'll pair it down and post in log file area. Need to add some bells and whistles. Then people can reference the list, and can post in this thread with any discussion to change a listing (there's a little gray area). I will post as 00-Magic Item Body Slot Reference, and will probably post as Excel file and as HTML (an HTML guru can make this sortable / filterable, I'll just provide a reference dump file) and will start a new thread at that time.
See my notes above for possibly changing the Magic Items Tables in EC V3.
FYI - I tried to complete a list of Lt./Warlord spellcasters, including spell type and starting SPL, but without all the reference books that turned out to be very difficult. Also there's a lot of gray area on spell-like abilities vs. spell casting ability (for example can bright naga progress as a spellcaster?) - perhaps someone with broader knowledge and reference material can tackle that one? | |
