With those options these are the best.

LG:Sword of Heironeous
CG:either
LE:Urthok
CE:Tiefling Captian

You also should no the playstyle for each faction

LG: Tends to be slower and more defensive

CG: Fast with good ranged support

LE: High attack bonuses and weird abilities

CE: Massive melee damage and speed

Chaotic evil tends to be the most forgiving followed by chaotic good. It would also be really helpful to know what other pieces you have.

For LG, Sword of Heironeous is definitely the better choice, but I think you should really consider the Cleric of Order, Cleric of Yondalla or Cleric of Lathander. Any of those could give you better mileage.

CE: definitely Tiefling

LE: definitely Urthok, however, you should also look at Snig the Axe and the Kobold Sorcerer as backup commanders. If you don't have it, it's really hard to get, but the Mindflayer fits your restrictions, and he can be quite fun and very nasty.

CG: either is a good commander. Obviously, they lend themselves to quite different builds. You might also consider the Inspiring Marshall. He can be outstanding with Frenzied Berserkers or Goliath Barbarians, among other tough, speedy melee fighters. Come to think of it, that's especially in an environment where everyone is limited to low-cost commanders--they can be very vulnerable to assassination facilitated by the grant move action (game breaker action).

Thanks guys! This was exactly what I needed. I think I'm going to try to build a warband for CE around the Teifling and a CG band with the Bladesinger. I might try a LG around one of the clerics that Faragdar mentioned, as I had considered the Cleric of Lathander before.

Glad I could help.[:)] Since you have every non angelfire piece, including at least one orc champion and ogre ravager can make a fairly forgiving band.

I think Urthok and the Tiefling are the best choices out of those two. Although I am playing in a campaign with the Grim Necromancer. Extra summoning spells can be fun.

I actually thought about the Grim Mecromancer, but it seemed like he'd be more interesting once I got the hang of them game. Very cool abilities though for an undead warband.

I'm assuming that this is for some sort of a campaign format, so here goes. Urthok might be the best because he starts with a high commander rating, has two attacks which will also rise, and greater HP makes him an absolute monster to deal with. The Tiefling Captain also benefits from having a relatively high commander rating (especially for chaotic evil), and he will recieve greater benefit from his conceal 6 ability as his HP rise. But, on the whole, Urthok is the better choice.

So, I played last night and had a great time!

I ended up choosing the Tiefling Captain for my commander and through him together with a Cultist of the Dragon, Minotaur, some Abyssal Maws and Tannaruks. Overall, I felt that the warband did okay, though I constantly forgot about the Conceal 6 ability of the Teifling. [:(!] The game is indeed a campaign format, so I have plenty of other opportunities to play and improve my warband and game. Thanks for all of your help and suggestions!
